Blue Jello...Yum!

Last weekend Brooke and I met Mom & Dad for lunch at Luby's.  Well Dad took her out of the high chair while she was still covered in gloppy mixed vegetables and gave her a bowl of blue jello. Very brave move.  She was fascinated. Grandparents are the bomb!

8 Month Excitement

Well Princess, you are 8 months old! We just cannot believe how fast you are growing and how wonderful it is to see your personality develop. Here are 8 things about you that I love...

1. Your babbling skills are at a high point right now. You talk allll the time to anyone who will listen, even during quiet times at church and during prayer times. You say things like, "Yayayaya, mammmmmmammmaaa (which I count as mama), bababa, heeeheeeeee, aglaa", etc.
2. You are really great at getting around. You crawl so fast, and you climb up on anything you can. You even sidestep walk when holding on to something.
3. You just started clapping. You love to clap, and you get really excited when someone notices you are clapping. You went to the nursery for the first time on Sunday, and you went to babies class where they sing with you. You did very well I was told.
5. You are still my snugglebunny. People said the cuddliness would not last, but you are your mommy's girl. We cuddle, snuggle, hug, & nap together just about anytime we can. Your favorite place is in my arms. I just can't get enough!
6. You have developed a kissy face. We make kissy faces to you, and you open and close your mouth and lunge your mouth at us. Most of the time you end up sucking our noses or chins.
7. You love other babies. Every time we see one of our baby friends you shriek with joy and flap your hands and arms toward them. You love to touch other babies' faces, and you look so concerned when they cry. You even stop what you are doing to notice a baby on tv.
8. You are the messiest eater I have ever seen! You are so independent that you only want to feed yourself, not take a spoonful of food from Mommy. You love those little flavored puff crackers along with any food you can grab with your little hands. You usually take the spoon away from me and chew on it. You are usually covered in food by the time you finish a meal.

Here you are getting cozy by the fire Daddy made. This is one of the very few pictures that shows your little teeth. You have two tiny teeth on the bottom (they are bigger now); one has poked through all the way and one is still working it's way up.

Nannie's 21st Birthday Bash

Ready to partay!

We made a special trip to MP for one special lady. David's grandmother Gertie (a.k.a. Nannie to the grandkids) celebrated her 88th--I mean 21st--birthday in style with the whole family at Two Senoritas. She really seemed to have a great time.
"My Nannie loves me!"

With Aunt Gail & sweet cousin Larkin... Check out those gorgeous blue eyes!

Every baby loves Uncle Terry, and Brooke is no exception. He taught her how to jam with soup spoons for entertainment.

Chillin' at Grandma's house the next day...Look how I can get around!

Beep Beep Beep

"Who, me?"

It is apparent that our baby has inherited her parents' sense of humor. Besides being a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of girl, she has some extra silliness to her.

For example, her favorite time to go exploring is the second I take off her diaper. She despises sitting still for a diaper change and must turn over to crawl somewhere away from me. Here she is caught in action. Notice how I captured the trail of diaper and clothes in the picture.
On the rare occasion that she is fussy for no obvious reason, the only song that will calm her is "The Wheels on the Bus". It is pretty hilarious. She'll stop screaming and immediately smile while I sing this song to her. No other song gets this kind of result. In fact, I've had to make up several more verses to the song to keep it interesting..."The cats on the bus say 'Meow, meow, meow...'" I doubt any cat on a bus would be that calm. Perhaps we have a future bus driver in the making.

Her favorite game right now is pulling an object off a shelf/coffee table/couch and seeing how loud it hits the floor. And forget toys, her favorite play item which doubles as a chew toy is the remote control. We have put a couple dud remotes in her toy box. She also likes to squeal or scream and flail her arms when people come over. Pretty silly and pretty cute.

She also snorts when she laughs.

We are relieved to know she has a good sense of humor. What would we do with a serious child?

Please Pray!

I have a healthy baby. I am reminded what a blessing this is every time I hear about a baby who isn't. Mom called this afternoon and told me about a childhood friend of mine whose little girl was just diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Please pray for the Jost family. They really need it right now.

Side note: I started keeping our friends' baby boy two days a week. It is not easy caring for a 4 month old and a seven month old at the same time, but we'll all get used to it eventually. My arms are going to be so strong! Colt is a sweetie, and Brooke has taken a shine to him too. She was watching me pat his back and she started patting him too. Soo cute!
