The Mystery Tooth

Claire and Keely have been teething left and right for the past few months!
Not knowing much about twins and teething, I assumed identical twins would teethe in the same pattern. They certainly started out that way. Keely got her first tooth first, and teeth came in in this order: left bottom, right bottom, two front top teeth, then the side top teeth. Claire followed in the exact same order, first a few days behind Keely, then as much as a week and a half behind Keely.
Then, out of nowhere, Claire (the one always a few days behind) sprouted a surprise pearly white, just right of her bottom two teeth. This happened at least three weeks ago, and Keely still hasn't gotten any more teeth.
???
After some more reading on the subject, I found it is not uncommon for this to happen among identicals. We will probably find several more differences in the girls as they grow.

The pictures are not the best, sorry. Here is Keely, with just her two bottom teeth.
And Miss Claire proudly showing off her third bottom tooth.

Babies' First Carousel Ride

We took family trip to the mall, and the twins got to ride the carousel for the very first time. They gave mixed reviews of the experience, but I think they will be ready to try it again soon.

3 in a row
Brooke thinks this is the highlight of the mall trip.
Keely is fearless!
Claire is not sure what to think!

Fluttery Butterflies

Welcome back to Kim's Craft Corner! I found another creative idea and it looked so easy I had to try it with Brooke. Her preschool class just "hatched" some real life butterflies, so Brooke was excited to do anything butterfly related.
Again, I just found supplies around the house and substituted what I didn't have with things I did. In our case, we just gathered a piece of paper, three band-aids, three gauze squares, glue, and a twisty tie.
Brooke picked the worthiest band-aids of the bunch,
scrunched up gauze for wings, and stuck on band-aid bodies. Then we cut up one twisty tie into six small pieces for antennae.
And there they are!
I have a feeling we will be reading The Hungry Caterpillar tonight!

Quite a Playgroup!

On my last day in the hospital after having the twins, I walked down hall to the hospital nursery to peek in on my babies. Just as I got there, a proud daddy with a video camera and some nurses were making their way in with just born twins! Girls too. I chatted with the proud grandparents looking in through the window and congratulated them. Several months went by and I found myself making conversation at my local Mothers of Multiples club. After talking to Amy for a few minutes, I realized the twins from the hospital (Elle & Sydney) were hers. She also has an older son (Aaron) who is Brooke's age. We met a few more times over the next few months at meetings and connected on Facebook. We soon decided to get together for a playdate. Amy introduced me to another really nice mom of multiples from our club, Christy, who has a son (Christian) the same age as our older ones, and boy/girl twins (Mason & Madison) the same age as our younger twins. Just in case you're counting, that's nine children between the three of us, and when we met they were all under three years old. Believe it or not, we all live within three miles of each other.
At our first playdate we decided to form our own playgroup, meeting once every other week. It has been really fun getting to know these great girls and their cuties. Today we met out in public for the first time. We were quite a sight! One man referred to us as "Noah's Ark", strolling them along two by two.

Picnic time!
The babies!
All of our kids, wow!
Big kids swing.

It's not always easy...

It's not always easy to get a great shot of the twins for their monthly pictures...

but what's the saying? Try, try again? (Picture me making a complete fool of myself to get them both to look at me.) Thank goodness for digital cameras!

But when you finally get the perfect picture...it's so worth it!!
