Mothers

I know this post is a little late but I thought I should still include it! I'm so thankful for the mothers in my life and for the chance I have to be a Mom! It's a little hectic some days but I wouldn't trade it for anything!! Here's a little something about the mothers in our lives...
I am thankful for the generations that have gone before me and for the example they have set! I'm so lucky to still have one of my Great Grandmothers living! In fact, she turns 90 today!
Brayden's Great Great Grandma Burkle came to see him not long after he was born and we're so glad she's been able to spend time with him! She doesn't travel anymore but we're hoping to see her this summer! She has set quite the example of hard work and living within your means! Happy 90th Birthday Great Grandma!
Brayden's been lucky to also see his three Great Grandmas frequently! I love my Grandma Leavitt! We've always been very close and she's taught me many things! Most importantly how to have fun doing just about anything! I have so many memories of fun times with her and I am grateful for her example of service to all those around her! She's even been known to leave goodies for her mailman!
I'm so lucky that my Grandma Price lives here in Utah! We try and see her as often as we can! Brayden's been able to watch baseball games with her and pick dandelions for her to feed to her turtles! She has been such a good example of living righteously and serving in the Temple.
Brian's Grandma Petersen also lives here in Utah and we love the chances we get to see her and Grandpa! They always love when we stop by to say hi and always have ice cream bars! She's such a good example of perseverance (she has numerous health problems). She's also the most up to date with technology senior citizen I know! She can do more things with a computer than I can!
And how can I forget our moms? They have taught us too many things to list! But from giving us life to watching us welcome a new life into our family, they've been with us every step of the way! They still do so many things for us and we're so lucky they are our mothers!! We love you both very much!
Last but certainly not least, I'm thankful that I get to be a mother to this adorable boy! I didn't know how much I would love being a mother before he was born and I am continually amazed at all the joy he brings into my life! I am so lucky that I get to stay home and play with him everyday! (This was the only decent picture of the two of us from Mother's Day!) And because I love him so much, I couldn't help but include a few other pictures of my little boy!
When he was little, I used to think there's no way life could get better than that but now as he grows up, he's just so much fun! He's constantly surprising me with new words and phrases and the way that silly things seem so great to him! I don't think there's any better job I could have than to be his Mom!

So Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the mothers in our lives! We love you all very much and are so lucky that you are ours!

Brayden's Two Year Pictures

We got the cd from the photographer in the mail today so I thought I'd better post them for Brian to see! (He's off working in LA this week!) Some of them are repeats of the ones she posted on her blog, but oh well...I love them all!! With twenty pictures in color and black and white, I don't have enough space in my house to put them all out! It's going to be hard to choose! Thanks again Jessica!! You completely captured the personality of the little boy I love the most!

I love this one! He's totally into picking up rocks lately so it's completely him!
Our favorite! The over dramatic sad lips that I see quite frequently!Cheese!

I love this one in color too, but I was trying not to repeat too much from what she posted!

Six Amazing Years!!

Where our little family got it's start.
Brian and I celebrated our 6th anniversary over the weekend!! It sure doesn't seem like it's been that long but then you think about all the things that have happened in those 6 years and then you realize it has been a long time! We left Brayden with my parents for the weekend and headed up to Park City and stayed at the Stein Erickson Lodge! It was definitely the nicest place we've ever stayed!! We got a GREAT deal since it's between seasons up there that included two meals at their amazing restaurant! (It's been voted the most romantic restaurant and best Sunday brunch in Utah by Zagat.) Friday night we enjoyed dinner in their restaurant (Brian had elk!) and learned that their desserts were AMAZING, especially their creme brulee! Saturday we slept in before going to the outlets to do some shopping and then headed down to Kyoto in Salt Lake for dinner. (Yes, we loved it so much last time we went that we HAD to go again!) Then once we got back up to the hotel, we headed to the restaurant for creme brulee again!! (SO YUMMY!) Sunday we enjoyed their DELICIOUS Sunday brunch (that had an AMAZING dessert bar w/the creme brulee) before heading back to pick up Brayden! (Thanks Mom and Dad!!) It was so nice to just spend time together and enjoy a new place that is going to become a favorite of ours!
The view from our deck
There's still LOTS of snow up there!
We never got a picture of the two of us except for these ones we took of ourselves! I have such a silly husband!
Thanks for six great years Brian! Crazy to think about what the next six will bring to us!! The best decision I've ever made was marrying you six years ago! :) I love you lots!

Our Baseball Parks Quest

Brian's doing really good at completing his quest...his quest to see as many major league baseball parks as possible! It's something we both enjoy and want to do but with his traveling for work, he's crossing more off his list than I am!! In the month of April, he saw the Minnesota Twins play at the Metrodome and the Kansas City Royals play at Kauffman Stadium!
Here is Brian and Phil (the speaker he mainly works with now) watching the Twins play! They paid $7 for a ticket to get in and then ended up walking down to empty seats that were right on the field! (He did practically the same thing with Eric in Kansas City too!)

His current list of ballparks where he's seen a game include: Kingdome (former field of the Seattle Mariners), Safeco Field (Seattle Mariners), Petco Park (San Diego Padres), Dolphin Stadium (Florida Marlins), Citizens Bank Park (Philadelphia Phillies), McAfee Coliseum (Oakland A's), and now the Metrodome (Minnesota Twins) and Kauffman Stadium (Kansas City Royals). Of course he can't count how many games he's seen at Safeco Field, home of his FAVORITE team!

My list includes: Candlestick Park (Former home of the San Francisco Giants), AT&T Park (San Francisco Giants), the original Busch Stadium (St Louis Cardinals) and Safeco Field (Seattle Mariners).

We were thinking about going back East for our anniversary to see some games (both in Boston and New York) but our anniversary just came too soon! (We're headed up to Deer Valley this weekend instead!) Hopefully we'll get to add more parks to our lists this season!

Getting Ready to Garden!!

So Brian and his Dad took on the big project of creating our garden! It involved dirt being delivered, a big trip to Home Depot, and lots of hard work! Here's a few photos of what's been occurring out there!
Before
The guys hard at work!
The dirt was delivered on our patio and then we both took turns taking wheelbarrows full of the dirt over to the garden!
Brian put some wood around the edges where the garden meets the lawn. Once the fences are all in, we'll finish and put the wood around the rest!

Since then, Brian's been working in the yard almost everyday! Brayden and I have helped a few times but Brayden just ends up covered in dirt! Brayden was pretty helpful though when I told him to pick up rocks and put them in a bucket! He LOVES finding rocks and bugs! He's made at least 5 trips to Home Depot to pick up a weed whacker, rototiller, wheelbarrow, gas cans, random "needed" tools and countless parts and tools to make sure all the sprinklers are working! He's replaced probably like 4 or 5 sprinkler heads and other miscellaneous parts! Not to mention a trip to Costco to finally buy a lawn mower! Brian was out there using the rototiller today in the SNOW!! And the neighbor in the far northeast corner has started putting his fence up so this last picture is already outdated! We'll post more pictures as our garden progresses...

Fun with Grandpas!

The Sunday that Brian's parents and Stephanie were in town, we hosted family dinner. Brian's grandparents also joined in on the fun! The weather was perfect for a BBQ so that's what we did! Afterwards, Brian's Grandpa wanted to see our backyard so almost everyone went outside and Brayden took the opportunity to get both his Grandpa and Great Grandpa to play basketball with him!
Grandpa and Brayden sportin' their shades!
Great Grandpa was nice enough to even lift Brayden up to make a basket! I hope I can do that when I'm in my 80s to0!
Great Grandpa got tired so Grandpa had to fill in! Notice my son's choice of clothing for the day...sweatpants with his rain boots! He insisted on wearing those!!
What good Grandpa's Brayden has!!

Here's how the rest of their visit went:

Monday- Girls and Brayden went shopping and to lunch at the mall while Brian and his Dad worked on our garden! Then we all met up with Bruce and Beth (who had school that day) at Tucanos for a dinner and then went and played mini golf!

Tuesday- We all met up at Magelby's for breakfast to celebrate Bruce's birthday and to say goodbye as they left to take Stephanie back to Rexburg and then head home to Washington! :(

We had so much fun! Come back again soon!!
