The Week In Review

We started off last week by attending the Draper Temple Open house with my family for Family Night.  Brayden was very quiet and reverent and was VERY excited to be able to go with us instead of having to stay at Grandma's.  As we drove in the car he even asked us if Jesus was going to be there!  Guess he does listen to us when we tell him that Temples are the House of the Lord.

The Temple is absolutely beautiful!  We loved the African Cherry wood used throughout!  Afterwards we finished our FHE with my family by eating at Pei Wei.  So yummy!
As the days left until this little boy arrives become fewer, we've been working to convert the office into the nursery!  We got it all cleared out (which was a BIG task!) and then...
...Daddy and Brayden set up the crib!
It's now all set up with bedding and everything!  His clothes are hung in his closet waiting for him and the changing table is in too!  Just a few more things and it'll be all ready for him!  (We'll post more pictures then!)

The most exciting thing this week happened on Sunday!  Brian got a text message during Sacrament Meeting saying that our niece was on her way here!  Bruce and Beth welcomed little Rachel on Sunday evening!  She weighed in at 8 pounds 10 ounces even though she was 5 days early!  We saw her for the first time Monday afternoon and went again today after my doctor appointment.  Brian and I are VERY excited to finally be an Uncle and Aunt and for Brayden to  have a cousin!

I am loving that dark hair and new baby sleepiness!

She's in the nursery while they treat a possible infection so we've been visiting her in there.  She was on oxygen at one point too (thus the circle band aid on the side of her face) but is off that and she should be going home soon!
Since she's been in the nursery, this has been the closest Brayden's gotten to her!  He keeps asking if she's better and can't wait to hold "cousin baby Rachel."  He has loved seeing her and all the other babies through the glass!  It's a good warm-up for what's coming next for him!
The 2nd best part about being an Aunt (1st place going to having a cute little baby to hold) is being able to make the fun girlie things I've been coveting!  One day hopefully I'll have a girl of my own to make these things for!
As for what else has happened this week...

We got new furniture delivered yesterday!  A love seat and side/console table for the living room!  We're feeling like grown-ups with such nice matching furniture!

If you notice something different with the two pictures of Brian in this post, you'll see that his beard is now missing!  This morning Brayden came running out to me saying, "Daddy is shaving his scruffies all gone!"  He was practically in tears about it although he always said he didn't like it when he had it!  Silly kid!

I had a doctor appointment today and set my induction date for the 17th of February if this boy doesn't come before then!  A little later than exactly 39 weeks but I wanted a certain doctor so if I make it until then, he'll be the one to deliver this baby.  Also, I'm dilated 1 1/2 centimeters and 50% effaced so my body's actually getting ready this time!  (I wasn't that far along with Brayden BEFORE they started inducing me!)  I was also still measuring BIG!  (39 cm) Next week is another appointment with the perinatologist and the doctor so we'll see if anything new develops!

Brian installed two dimmer switches (in both of the boys rooms) tonight in like 15 minutes!  He's becoming quite handy around the house lately!  Between him doing home improvement work and getting new furniture, we're really feeling like homeowners!  Good thing, since it's taken over a year to feel like this!

Coming this week...

With moving the changing table out of Brayden's room, some reorganizing needs to take place!  His new baseball bat shelf made by Grandpa Petersen will be hung on his wall along with a few other things?!?

Makeover of the boys/guest bathroom!

**Can you tell I'm in the nesting phase of pregnancy?!?  Also, the decorating bug has finally hit our household so after a year in our house, we're finally making it our own!**

ANOTHER Baby Update

So I saw the perinatologist again at 33 1/2 weeks and as this little boy is growing, so is his kidney that they are concerned about.  It's gone from 6 mm to 10 mm so they still consider it a mild case of pylectasis and aren't too concerned about it.  They are just saying that he needs to have an ultrasound with a pediatric urologist when he's 2-3 weeks old and then go from there.  They estimated his weight again and put him at 6 pounds, 2 ounces!  (The margin of error is a whole pound at this point so he could be 5 lbs 2 oz or 7 lbs 2 oz!)  If I go to my due date they are thinking we could possibly be having a 10 pound baby!  (YIKES is all I have to say about that!)  So we'll be seeing the perinatologist once more at 37 1/2 weeks and see what they say about his weight then!  Hopefully we can avoid the c-section talk but we'll see!  I know many of you have had c-sections and lived to tell about them but I just hate the idea of being cut open!  We got a few pictures but nothing worth posting since he just looks SO squished in there!  We did learn that he's taking after his big brother though....HE HAS A THICK HEAD OF HAIR according to the ultrasound!

We saw my Dr this past Tuesday and he continued to say he'd induce me at 39 weeks...that would be Friday,  February 13th.  He seems to be on the same page as the perinatologist in saying that if this baby is big, they wouldn't want to risk it and would just want to do a c-section.  I guess it's really just a waiting game at this point although I wish we could just pick a date and schedule him to come then!!

We're having trouble deciding on a name for this little boy so check out the poll on the right side of the blog and vote for your favorite!  No promises that the one that wins the poll will be it but at least it might help us decide!  Or leave us a comment with your thoughts about a name for this little guy!

(Oh, and I did gain weight over the holidays!  I'm out of the single digits and am in the low teens now!  In case any of you were wondering!)

FHE Fun

So for the first FHE of 2009, we decided to have a little fun and make swords out of paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, and duct tape.  I'd like to say we already had the lesson planned BEFORE we made the swords but I figured there were enough stories from the Book of Mormon that had swords in them that we'd pick one and that would be our lesson.  Brian decided on the story of the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and Brayden thought it was great to bury the swords!  He didn't really catch on completely because he dug the swords up and for the next few days he would say, "Let's go on a mission and bury our swords."  Apparently he thought they were missionaries when they buried their swords?!?  At least he's got down that they were righteous (you have to be righteous to go on a mission right?!?) and that they buried their weapons?  I know at least the video will become something fun that we'll be laughing at for years to come!

First Sledding Excursion of 2009

We finally ventured out to go sledding on Monday!  We've had so much snow but just not enough free time to actually go sledding!  And of course when we did finally decide to go, it was snowing like crazy!  We didn't last more than 30 minutes with all the snow still coming down but that didn't stop Brayden from having a GREAT time!  Mom (for obvious reasons) didn't join in on the fun but Brayden didn't really let Dad join in either!  He only wanted to go down by himself!  Of course he wanted Dad to carry him and the sled back up the hill though!  Brian did manage to convince Brayden to let him go a few times though!  Thankfully we didn't have ANY injuries (like so many of you have had this year!) but I'm sure this is only our first sledding trip of the year!  We've got only a few more weeks before Mom won't be able to come and watch!  We had a lot of fun though and came home and warmed up with Brayden's favorite...hot chocolate!

Warning: I had a REALLY hard time only choosing 15 to post!  (We have some video to post of our sledding fun too but that will be coming a little later!)

***Brian's beard is still going strong!  (He hasn't been completely clean shaven since before Thanksgiving!)  Especially thanks to some help from our neighbor and her ability to wax a man's face!  I'm thinking I'd like it gone before baby boy #2 makes his debut though!  What do YOU think about his beard?!?***

A Day At The Temple

On December 30th we got to join my sister, Torey as she went through the Mount Timpanogas Temple for the first time.  It was also fun to be with all of my living Grandparents and many other family members as we attended the Temple.  Thanks to Uncle Logan for watching Brayden for us!

Pregnancy Update

Since I've been slacking on the pregnancy updates...here's some more recent info!  This little guy was diagnosed with pyelectasis at around 24 weeks.  You can google it if you want but it's basically the enlargement of one of his kidneys.  In his case, I believe it's the left one and that it measures 6 mm...just at the top of the normal range we've been told.  We were sent to see the perinatologist at about 27 weeks (just before Thanksgiving)and got to see more of our little guy! (Having gestational diabetes with Brayden and having lots of ultrasounds, this pregnancy wouldn't have been "normal" by my standards if I hadn't needed more ultrasounds and time with a perinatologist!) We learned more about pyelectasis and that this little guy is BIG!  That day he was measuring 14 days bigger than he should have been! This little bit of knowledge has helped my doctor in deciding to induce me at 39 weeks! We go again to the perinatologist tomorrow so we'll see if anything new develops and if the pyelectasis has resolved itself, which is sometimes the case.

Here's some scans of a few of the pictures we got that day!
His foot!  I can't wait to have him here with us and to have someone SO small around the house again!  I love all their little baby body parts!
He seems to be taking after his big brother and always having his hands up at his face/head.  Brayden still sleeps like that!

Sorry it's crooked!  But here's his little profile!
Maybe we'll get 3D ones from them tomorrow?!?!

I was 32 weeks the day after Christmas and here's how I was looking then!

Yeah, pretty big huh?!?  Luckily I haven't gained a ton of weight...yet?  I'm still in the single digits but we'll see next week after the holidays!  Yikes!

Christmas 2008

Christmas was so fun this year with Brayden understanding SO much more than last year!  We enjoyed having our own Christmas morning together!!  We woke Brayden up at 8am and Brian got the video camera out so we could capture Brayden's reaction to seeing what Santa had left for him!  He was very excited about all the presents but got very distracted by the current present he had opened!  We had to keep convincing him to open the rest!  We were done opening by 9am and then enjoyed playing with all our new presents...oops, Brayden's presents!  He was so excited to set up his GeoTrax Airplane Set and the other GeoTrax stuff that Santa had brought him!  We had breakfast together and then got ready and hurried off to my parent's house in time to call Elder Kellen Leavitt in Brussels, Belgium at 12:20!  The roads were pretty bad (it had been snowing all morning!) and we were worried we wouldn't make it in time but we made it with about 5 minutes to spare!  We enjoyed our 30 minute call (that's all he gets!) to the fullest and then moved on to more presents!  Brayden wasn't expecting the SpiderMan scooter that Grandma and Grandpa Leavitt had under the tree for him!  He was SO excited!  By the end of the day, he had just about mastered riding it around their house!  It was fun to open gifts with everyone and have Brayden tell some people what it is they were opening!  (Note to self...don't let him see me wrap presents for family members next year!)  After opening all the gifts, playing with the new items, and some people having naps, we had a great turkey dinner!  Our night ended with Brayden sleeping, some tv watching, and a rousing game of Scattergories!  It was a great Christmas and we loved being able to spend it with some of our family!

Now on to LOTS of pictures....
Opening his stocking
This is what I got when I asked him to smile!
He's currently into dinosaurs and was SO excited to get a dinosaur movie!
He got a cute dog shirt and pants from the Drolet family that he loves!
Brian got me the new camera lens I've been wanting!
Brian showing off the invishields we got for our iPhones!
Who knew a 2 year old would be so excited about a toothbrush?!?
Just one of the many dinosaur themed presents he opened throughout the day!
I got Brian the SlingBox he's been wanting!
Brayden's big present....the GeoTrax Airplane set!
Dad was nice enough to set it up and until New Years it was a fixture in our family room!
The SpiderMan scooter from Grandma & Grandpa Leavitt!
Parking it so he could open other gifts! (Notice the cute pug shirt from the Drolet family!  He kept telling everyone it was Kiya, one of my parents THREE pugs!)
Great Grandma Leavitt got a shirt to represent Kellen on his mission!
Brayden helping Great Grandma Price open a gift!
Great Papa Leavitt got a collection of John Wayne dvds!
Torey so excited about opening presents!
I was so excited to see Logan's reaction to the Giants belt buckle I found for him back in October in Orlando!
Aunt Torey gave Brayden the Wac-A-Mole game and we enjoyed playing it with Great Aunt Linda!
This is where Brayden crashed finally at 6pm that night!  Poor guy had been up since 8am without a nap!  And poor Mom and Dad were up late that night when he didn't want to go to bed for the night once we got home!  He's been loving any chance he gets to snuggle with me and my preggo belly!
