Debut album by Nothgard. It is a fun album, with the unconventional influences that have been added into their music. The smart usage of various folk instruments like the horns on Einherjer creates an epic sound for the band, along with the orchestral arrangements at the background. The guitar solos, while melodic death metal influenced and bordering on neo-classical shredding styled, retain their folk metal edge.

2nd album by Infinight. The base of the albums sound is in the traditional sounding power metal vein, but the influence of thrash metal is quite evident and if you listen close enough there is a bit of a feeling of progressive metal scattered in there too. The album’s lyrics, which by the way are offered up by an outstanding vocalist in Martin Klein, follow a loose concept about everybody on earth being like a puppet for the higher authorities.

His music is strictly less heavy than Sodom, but it still combines metal, some elements of punk as well as waltzes and folk songs. A self released 'Ep by Endless Disease, a trio band that lies in anonymity. It includes the songs of their first demo plus two new ones. Rather crude and violent, that marks a unique guitar style, each riff so like on percussion rythm and the tremendous voice full of anger that defines this crust/black metal.

Debut album by Cruachan, that shreds more than the rest of their albums! One of the first albums that mixes black metal with folk/celtic melodies and tunes. It is more in the lines of black metal with folk elements, somehow justifying a pretty crude production. Most of the songs are really memorable and in my opinion they never managed to overpass the success of their debut.

Arkona borrow at different times elements from doom, symphonic, groove, nor do they forget their black metal roots. Debut album by FireForce. Erwin Suetens is the guitar brain, who can create magnificent riffs and solos and together with Steve Deleu they do great things. The riffing in here brings in mind Running Wild and Accept on a faster tempo and with the combination of their modern thoughts they are far away from imitations. The basic characteristic is that all the songs have great riffs and the only instrumental moment of the album offers a speed pleasure.

Debut album by Atrophy. There's a steady flow of riffs through and through, most of which are pretty catchy and some are downright headbangable, resulting in an overall enjoyable, almost party-like atmosphere despite the rather serious lyrical themes. Lyrics deal with such things as war, drugs, racism, social injustice and related political themes. The vocals are not the best in the genre, a little raspy and thin-sounding, but they do fit well with the music.

Debut album by Skyclad. It is a remarkable debut, at this early stage with more elements of forceful thrash metal than actual folk music. With Martin Walkyier's angry vocals remaining some of the best in the thrash metal history, there are some truly classic tracks on this album. 2nd album by Hallows Eve. Compared to their debut, this release is much more slower. All the songs are catchy as hell, especially the slower shout-a-long choruses. Most of the time the riffs are quite mid paced and flowing tight with the drums. Lyrically speaking, that’s the one thing that hasn’t changed much at all, it’s still the horror influenced lines we heard before, but less cheese and more maturity.

2nd album by Slayer. It is again a dark, foreboding effort, but it manages to incorporate at least some of the energy of 'Show No Mercy' with more ambitious song structures. Musically there are no big differences, and for the most part the material is basically fine. The production lacks some dynamics again, but the quality is pretty sufficient anyway. It is a definite improvement over the preceding mini album and a sign of even better things to come.

Quite a primitive debut album by Blood Feast. Slayerish debut of one-dimensional thrash metal with a very thin and messy sound. The music is constantly fast and sounds fairly nasty. A notable feature of the early Blood Feast sound was Gary Markovitch's nasty vocals that add to the somewhat wicked feel of the music.

After a primitive debut album, Kreator released one of their fan favorite albums, which was a ferocious and bitting mixture of all out speed with all out aggression, that subsequently went on to become one of the band’s best known works, hugely influential and a classic album of thrash metal in general.

2nd album by D.R.I.. This album shows quite a bit of growth from their debut, even though it features reworked versions of many of the songs from the Dirty Rotten LP. The riffs are memorable punk phrasings played at lightning speed, with a slightly dark, metal flavored tone about them. Generally the songs are nonlinear, frequently alternating between fast and unmoshibly slow phases, and then ending abruptly.

2nd album by Dismember. Drummer Fred Estby and bassist Richard Cabeza produce one of music’s most devastating rhythm sections, while lead guitarist David Blomqvist causes major sensory damage with his playing. They came up with the name for this album after a british newspaper referred to the band as Indecent and Obscene. The idea for the cover design came after seeing a poster of Jim Morrison of The Doors.

Germany's Alpinist meets Cleveland, Ohio's Masakari to present pure hardcore punk brutality. Alpinist's crusty aesthetic creates an all around dense atmosphere, which adds a little bit of character to an otherwise chaotic and unruly album. Debut album by Grave Digger. This is a pretty solid speed metal album here. Some of the ideas are a bit stronger than others, but in entirety it is an enjoyable listen. Hammering home one huge speed metal riff after another, Heavy Metal Breakdown starts off balls to the wall and just gets heavier.

2nd album by Dark Angel. The band had found the true formula of intense thrash metal and the result is a wonderful combination of fast riffs,  some very hard-hitting drumming and striking vocals. Many tracks are faster than ever before and this album is some real fun to listen to. The only disadvantage may be the production which, while still pretty decent, has lost some clarity compared to the band's debut.

8th album by Tokyo Blade, 13 years after their last one. Most of the band’s original line up has remained intact, except for lead singer Nicolaj Runhow who takes first bite in the vocal department and he does it pretty well. They do not live in the past too much and bring in modern production values. The dual lead guitars feel so fresh in an era dominated by down-tuned guitars.

2nd album by Denial Fiend, a 'supergroup' consisting of Terry Butler (Death, Massacre,etc), Sam Williams (Massacre), Rob Rampy (D.R.I., etc.) and Blaine Cook (The Accused,etc.). It’s mid to fast paced thrashy death with lots of big, crunchy riffings and wild solos. Blaine is unleashed behind the mic and on most of the songs he never stops his weird, insane screaming and cartoon voices. With lyrics revolving around horror and slasher movies, they play with fierce intensity and have put out an album that will appeal to not only death metal freaks, but hardcore and crossover fans as well.

5th album by hate Eternal. We’re basically talking about 42 minutes of straight forward brutality. The guitars are intricate, the drums fast and technical, the vocals scathing and the melody virtually non-existent. Continuing with tradition, Erik Rutan and friends show off their technical proficiency throughout the album’s ten tracks. It is almost too fast for time itself, with a whirlwind of drums and guitars hurtle by at an ungodly pace.
