15 Days of pure UKE fun

I don't often take many breaks so when I can get away..I really want to get away...from everything. Well Andrea and I just finished a 15 days cruise from Florida, through the Panama Canal then up to California. I had plenty of ukulele practice.

A Beautiful KoAloha and ME

I'm not angry, I'm just seriously wondering why I didn't do what the owner in this story did... read on.
When I was in Japan working at Tokyo Disneyland - Tiki Room, I was walking in the back employee area and walked by a guy from entertainment. He and his friend spent their breaks in playing their Ukulele's for fun. Well I couldn't let this pass, so I decided to talk with them them (with my interpreter of course). and the owner of this Ukulele let me try his Uke for a bit, and It sounded Awesome!. The PRICE about $1000 dollars. His reason for spending so much.....He explained is that by spending much he would surely feel awful if he didn't practice.

Andrea, what do you think, good Christmas gift?

ps check out the pictures on the signs (cute)

Withdrawls

withdrawal (plural withdrawals)

1) A type of metabolic shock the body undergoes when a substance, usually a toxin such as heroin, to which a patient is addicted is withheld.

2) A type of psychological depression the brain undergoes when a object, usually an UKULELE, to which a patient is addicted is withheld, or has not used for a period of time.
(my definition)
Withdrawal recovery Program:
Step 1) Think about happy Ukulele's
Step 2) PLAY

Ukulele Tree

I looked out the window and what did I see,
Ukulele's growing on a cherry blossom tree.
I love this Picture. Andrea and I where on a task to get as many Ukulele pictures around Japan and she spotted this area (a restaurant entrance) so we took this one and a few others as well.

Monkey Business

Have you ever felt like your just monkeying (is that a real word) around?
Well certainly I have felt that way. I thought I'd show you this great lamp that just by looking, it sends me to my "happy place." I don't own it, but just looking at the picture makes me smile. I hope it works for you as well.

The Great Duet

Though, I don't consider myself a good player by any means. I enjoy playing with friends .... whoever or "whatever" they are.

Gyoza Heaven and My Ukulele

Nothing better than an Ukulele and a good meal...and this is the best. In Tokyo (Omotesando) there is a Gyoza Restaraunt that servers gyoza like nowhere in the world.

FYI if your not taking your ukulele with you for dinners...then your not a real ukulele lover.

Domo Arigato "Mrs. Roboto"

On a building front in the area known as Roppongi (in Tokyo) is this unusual piece of ...Art???

It just looked like it needed an Ukulele to make it a little friendlier(just another Ukulele adventure)

The Traveling UKE

Yes, I do enjoy playing the Ukulele ..even if its just to pose for the camera.

This picture was taken just outside of my place France. If to open the picture larger, you will notice in the picture how seriously I take the Ukulele.
This next picure taken in Tokyo Japan (early 2007) shows how I got to be the Big Boy that I am!
Ok I never really had one of these but it sure was tempting ... 4 pattys and one guy with an Ukulele. I would have tried it but....I saw coronary not culinary ....all over it.

My personal Opinion of the Uke.

Funny thing about ukuleles' is that they are just fun.

Most people I know that have one love it. It's usually more about fun and enjoyment than just making the instrument sound precisely like a particular song.

Don't get me wrong. the Ukulele is a beautiful instrument that can sing like it should...unless I'm playing it then it screeches like a car with bad brakes.
As I play around with it I find I spend hours and hours just plucking or plinking or strumming and before I know it, it is very late. I wake up tired wanting to stay home and rest....and of course play some more.

the Ukulele has so many different variations in it styles and sounds it makes you want to try them all...ok I makes ME want to "buy them all".

I just cant get enough of my Ukulele!!

Ukulele is Serious yet fun

First and most important the Ukulele can be a truly beautiful instrument ....but you can also have a lot of fun.

I believe this to be the Soup-a-Lele
by Ukulele Ray.
