Summer of Color week 6

Hey Sweet Friends,

Well, we have come to our final week of Summer of Color #5. I have so enjoyed playing with Kristin and all the other lovely people who have joined in this year. It is always so sad to have it come to an end! Here is my final letter:
We were to use two oranges and a blue for our final project and I am loving this letter so much, I kinda wish I had done all of the letters with this technique :). I used my Gelatos (LOVE) and colored all over the letter and then used a wet paintbrush to blend the oranges together. I love this blue with the oranges - used my cricut to cut out the letters and found the orange flower in my stash! It just happened to be perfect of course!

Now this is my final picture with all of the letters together:

This is what the letters looked like before I started:

(oops, I guess I didn't get the picture before I did the S)

Hope you enjoyed hanging out with me this past six weeks. I hope you went over to Kristin's blog,
http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com to check out the wonderful masterpieces that were made by other artists!

I will try to blog more often. My poor little blog is feeling very neglected!

Much love and blessings,

Becky

Summer of Color weeks 4 and 5

Well friends, once again I got behind on Summer of Color over at Kristin's blog http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com/. I can't believe how quickly the weeks slip away and we are already almost halfway through July! Where does the time go?

Week #4 - the colors were two reds and a metallic so here is my second M of summer:

Week #5 the colors were two greens and a pink so here is the E. Both of my daughters suggested watermelon at separate times which I found amusing since they are not usually known to think along the same lines. Anyway, I decided to go for it. The seeds are buttons and beads :)

We only have one week left of SOC :( It has gone so quickly as usual. So many great projects of color - go check it out!  Hope to see you over at Kristen's blog or on the FB page for The Summer of Color!

God bless,

Becky

Summer of Color 2015

Okay, I admit it! I am a horrible blogger. Sad to say my poor little blog has seen no activity from me since last year at this time.  I don't seem to have enough time in the day. However, I am making time to play again this year over at http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.com with the other artists who are joining in for Summer of Color 2015. If you are looking for a TON of artistic inspiration, you should definitely hop over to Kristin's blog and check it out!

After much deliberation, I finally decided what I am going to do for the next six weeks. Each week for 6 weeks we get a new color prompt and we can submit whatever kind of art project we want. I was really having a hard time deciding what to do and I was at Michaels and discovered that these large letters were on clearance! I love to alter these letters so decided that is what I would do - of course the word SUMMER is perfect for the next six weeks :)  I was hoping to find all of the letters I needed in the canvas covered letters, but unfortunately I had to mix some up a bit but that is okay because I plan to cover the letters with paper or fabric or who knows what!
As you can see, I have already finished the S for this week. Here is a close-up picture of the letter S for this week:

The color prompt for this first week was to use 2 blues and 1 green. This S was covered with light blue denim and I liked the way it looked with the green and the teal blue that I had chosen so I left it as is and just added the other colors. I have buttons in denim, teal and that lovely "spring green". The letter is covered around the edges with a lovely white and green floral print which I also used for the butterfly and the smaller punched flowers.

I am so excited now that I know what my goal is for this year. I can't wait to see the final result with the different colors! This is so much fun! Come and play with us! Just hop over to Kristin's blog (posted the link above) and you can read all about it. You don't have to finish anything by the deadline - this is just for fun and inspiration - but there is a lovely prize every week for those who do finish by the deadline :)

See you next week!

Much love and blessings to you all -

Becky

Summer of color catch-up

Hi friends,

Well I got rather behind on the Summer of Color so I have been busy this week catching up! I missed the first week because of my accident, but went ahead and made a matchbox for it tonight. The colors were aqua, yellow, and a splash of hot pink:

I also missed weeks 4 which was pink, apple green, and a smudge of dark green:

and week 5 which was red, royal blue, and a pop of light blue:

I hope you all enjoyed my series of matchboxes! I enjoyed making them. Now I need to find a way to display them! Any ideas?

Have a blessed evening,
Becky

Summer of color week 6

So the final week of Summer of color has come again :( I am always so sad when it ends, but I look forward to next year! So many great artistic talents again this year. Make sure you check them out over at Kristin's blog! I got behind and did 4 this week including this one I just did for the last prompt which was raspberry, tangerine and a little bit of lemon. Hope you have enjoyed my matchboxes - I think I'm addicted :) I am going to do another post with pictures of the other matchboxes in just a minute!

God Bless,
Becky

Summer of Color Week 3

Hey Friends,

Busy busy busy this weekend crafting for my exchange partner for Scrapbook Friends and More Crafts, my favorite FB crafting group, but I did get a little matchbox made for Kristin's Summer of Color party :) This week the color prompt was gray, lavender and a splash or pop of plum - love this color palette! This little box did not turn out quite the way I envisioned, but I still like it., The paper I covered the box with is from Heartfelt Creations. I dotted the centers of the little lavender flowers with plum marker, wrapped with lavender ribbon and made the little stick pin to stick in. The "drawer pull" to open the box is a plum colored bead. Not a lot of work on this one, but my creative juices are not flowing as quickly as I'd like at the moment.

I hope everyone has a blessed weekend and upcoming week!

Much love,
Becky
