Ahhh mazing...

Just wanted to share this GORGEOUS picture of Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge that my wedding photographer took this past weekend.

I have spent a lot of time this week just in awe of how beautiful the trees look as they change and this picture truly captures that. Thanks Frank:)

Where the Buffalo Roam...

Cam's dad and stepmom came up last weekend from TN. We had a great time--we went out to eat one night, went to Buffalo Trace distillery the next day and cooked a big dinner and enjoyed the fire pit (and made s'mores with strawberries=best thing ever), and then went to Alfalfa's for breakfast the next morning. It was great to see them! Here are a few pictures from our Buffalo Trace visit. I still think Woodford is my favorite distillery to tour (gosh it is beautiful), but I loved BT's version of bourbon bailey's and didn't realize they made Sky vodka and Blantons.

The barrels are stored on every floor of the warehouse. Apparently the middle floors produce the best bourbon.

A view from inside the barrel storage warehouse...

The grounds.

They are such a cute family.

Cam and his brother Drew with the carved, wooden buffalo from the 1800s.

Julie and Felix's Wedding

Julie and Felix are so good for each other and this day was a long time coming. The big day was beautiful! Julie was such a gorgeous bride and the church and the Boone Center set a wonderful atmosphere. We are so happy for them and hope they had a wonderful time in Hawaii!

The gorgeous couple.

They had a pianist/singer. He was fabulous!
I had no idea the Boone Center was so nice and had such a gorgeous courtyard.

The table settings and colors were perfect for the Boone Center and the fall. She also had pictures of the two of them as the table numbers: it was so cute and personal.

A picture of a longer table. Each table had slightly different centerpieces tied together by the colors. It was really beautiful and gave each table its own look.

Her cake was deelish!

Theta nation:)

Cam, Felix, and Joe.

They were so classy and clean with the fork feeding of cake.

So We Have Maxed Out, But....

So Cam and I learned a lot from our *short lived* selling adventure. One thing is that our house apparently shows nicely and we have learned how to properly stage a house, which is great to hear. But, we also learned a few down parts to our house (namely the bathrooms and windows, lack of yard, and our neighbors). The other bad news is that we have put a lot into our house and are unsure if we will be able to get it all back anytime soon. So, we will probably hold back on doing too many actual updates to the house and may focus on saving up for a new home or buying nicer things for our house. We will probably finish out the landscaping, but other than that we will be pretty slow to sink too much more into the house.

That being said, I would LOVE to update the bathrooms and wanted to share a few bathrooms I have seen that I love.

I love this color scheme for our bathroom, and I love the modern double sink and mirror. I would need shelves/drawers under the sink though for storage.

I love the shower in this bathroom: the openness with the double shower head and half wall.

I love this look for our guest bathroom....

...and I love this tiled floor and tub.

I HATE RECTOR HAYDEN.

I am so frustrated and angry right now.

The stupid realtor with Rector Hayden who is listing our dream home knew we had our house on the market for that specific home. We talked to her on Wednesday and she promised to keep us in the loop about the home.

Of course, today a family asks to see our house again tomorrow and Cam and I get so excited. I go on MLS listing and see that our dream home is PENDING sale. The woman at Rector Hayden never called or bothered to tell us that she got an offer, and didn't even apologize once. This is the same woman who did not want to even take our contingency bid to the seller (which she is legally required to).

i am beyond frustrated with her and the situation and will not recommend Rector Hayden to a single person now....

Cam and I are planning on pulling our house off the market tomorrow.

Domestic? No. Motivated? Very.

We have our first official showing tomorrow so I have been busy as can be cleaning and baking for the last 6 hours. I have "staged" the house to the best of my ability:

  • I did all the usual cleaning, including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning the bathrooms.
  • I have removed all signs of our pets, including the cat tree, feeders, toys, beds and crates, and the animals themselves. Sophia is at Carla's house all week and Ritz is going to work with Cam tomorrow.
  • I have taken down quite a few of our pictures that could be distracting, removed some paintings and rugs to make some of the rooms feel larger and show off the floors. I also removed quite a few things from our counters to make them feel larger and cleaned off the front of the fridge.
  • I made cookie dough so I can bake some cookies before they come so the house will smell "homey". I also dabbed all the light bulbs with a little vanilla extract. The heat when they are on gives the room a hint of vanilla.
  • I cleaned out the closets to prevent them from looking too cluttered.
  • I removed some of the side tables and other small pieces that either blocked the walkway or were unnecessary to make the house feel bigger.
  • I deep cleaned the carpet upstairs. I have decided that hydrogen peroxide is seriously the best invention for absolutely anything you need. It removed every spot on our carpet that Resolve couldn't get it.
Cam was impressed and kept saying that I really must want to sell this house. At least I feel like I am doing everything I can to appeal to a buyer. I'm trying not to get my hopes up though. We have our first open house scheduled for Sunday so at least I have the house staged for that.

Cam's parents (and maybe Amy and Bryan) are coming up from TN tomorrow to stay with us for the weekend so the house is clean for them as well. I baked peanut butter brownie cups and make popover batter so I won't have as much to do tomorrow. It will be great to see them since we don't make it down there as much as we should. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can have a fun weekend.

For now, fingers crossed for tomorrow!

House Update

So, our house is still on the market because the dream home bid fell through. So, we need to sell our home ASAP. We have scheduled an open house this Sunday.

Anyone have any good staging tips? Already planning on making cookies so the house smells good...

Ah wish us luck--we want this house badly!

One Oh One

I love lists, so when I saw this ultimate list I realized it was made for me! I plan on making this a sticky note on my computer so that I will have to abide by it.

Lauren's 101 in 1001

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizng and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
