Almost a Bob!!!

This is what running 26.2 miles in the rain, wind, and wearing a garbage bag can do. Note to self do not let this happen again. It sucked!!! About mile 13- soon after taking the soaking wet garbage bag off, my hair started feeling really heavy. I felt it and wanted to scream it was a complete mess. These pics were after I had taken my elastic out, my hair which normally comes down to my mid back now barely passed my shoulders. It was in a million-kizzilion-batrilion knots. I really thought that I was going to have to chop it all off!!! My aunt said there was no way I was cutting it so her and I spent the next 2.5hours and a gallon of conditioning cream combing it out. I lost quite a bit of hair and it is still pretty damaged, but at least I didnt have to cut it all off!!!!

Only crazy people run Marathons

Well we did it, we ran 26.2 miles in the pouring rain. Can anyone think of something funner? It was actually a great experience. This was Brandons first Marathon and he totally ROCKED IT!! He ran it in 3hr 11min 50sec!!! Thats freakin amazing!
I was glad to finish in 3hr 58min 2sec. I was glad to do it under 4hrs. I ran it with my mom and dad. I need to especially thank my dad- he kept me going at the end. I ended up running the entire thing- yeah, no walking. It was great to actually be passing people at the end- usually its me getting passed by a ton of people.
My Dad and I at the finish
My Mom, ME, and my Daddy!!! YEAH, 26.2 miles down!!!
We had quite the family group running this year. Not only did Brandon, my mom and dad, and I run it, but also my aunt Sheila, aunt Chris, and uncle Curt ran it! WOW 7 of us. We also had quite a few friends there as well, including Kris who kicked some major butt running it in 2hr 54min- thats freakin fast!!!
The worst part about the whole thing was my hair afterwards, it was a complete mess. Some how it got completely tangled-it was basically dred-locks. I really thought I was going to have to chop it off. Luckily 2.5hrs later my aunt and I were finally got a comb through it. My uncle took pics, as soon as I get 'em I will post them!

Busy weekend

We had quite the busy weekend. We woke up early Saturday morning to run the famous Hope to Hobble run. This is our longest run before our marathon. It is 23-24 miles long. I posted the elevation profile. The first few miles are pretty brutal, then you go down for 2 miles before having to climb another 4-5 miles to the peak. Once there it is pretty much all downhill, Yeah! Although it is downhill it is trail and very rocky so you have to be careful. It is quite difficult since you are pretty tired by this point and you have to tell yourself to pick up your feet so you dont fall down. (this was the first year that I didnt fall!!)
When we finally got home, we had to do some yard work. We were having a party Sunday so we had to mow the lawn, weed, and clean the house. Fun stuff! Especially after running that far.
We barely finished in time to make it to the BYU football game! Ahhh. time to relax!
Wrong. We have student seats and everyone in front of us was standing. So we spent the next 4 hours on our feet watching and cheering. It was a great game, but I was so tired by the time we got home. Lets just say I went to bed at 9pm on a Saturday night. Man we must be getting old.
To make matters worse it poured on Sunday and we ended up having a party in our dirty garage. So much for doing yard work!

Hobble Creek Half Marathon

On Saturday August 23, Brandon and I ran Hobble Creek half marathon.
Brandon did Great!! He ran it in 1:27:26, a PR by 6 minutes!
Brandon in red
Kicking Butt- Pushing it to the end!
Brandon took 1st place in his age division. Look at him go!!
I did not have such a great day. I was just glad to finish. I started falling apart around mile 8.
I finished in 1:47:42
I was so sick, at the end. Just looking at the pics, I look like death, and felt even worse.
Unfortunantely, I didnt start feeling better after finishing. I started getting dizzy, lightheaded, began vomiting, and felt like I was going to pass out. Brandon insisted that we head over to the ER and the poor guy had to carry me to the car, as I was way too sick to walk. Then we "Baja'd" to the ER. I started feeling a little better after being there for a while. I again had a bunch of labs done- which were pretty normal, just some dehydration. I got some fluids and got to go home. After much frustration and discussion we (my dr, family and I) have come to the conclusion that I have asthma, which could be causing my problems. We are thinking that I am basically hyperventilating during races. (My dad ran the last 6 miles with me and said my breathing was out of control) I am holding onto CO2 and it is causing me to become acidic. AKA Respitory Acidosis. Luckily I have gotten the ok to run St. George, but I have to take it easy. I am not going for a certain time and will likely have to walk through some of the aid stations to make sure I can keep my breathing under control. I guess only time will tell for sure.

5 Year Anniversary

Saturday June 28th, was our 5 year Anniversary! I cant believe that we have been married for 5 years already. It has gone by incredibly fast. It seems like we were just in highschool. When we first got married we planned on a BIG trip for our 5 years. Did it happen? NOPE! School has officially taken over our lives. Not only do we not have time to go anywhere but we dont have the money to spend either. (Maybe when I graduate) Instead we deceided to go to The Roof for dinner. Brandon has wanted to go there for a while now. It was pricey but great. It is an "all you can eat" buffet. But nothing like Chuk-up-O-rama. Its on the 10th floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial building and looking out the window you have a great view of the Salt Lake Temple. It was still light when we went, I hope to go again later at night when the temple is all lit up. The food was great- there were all kinds of salads, cheese, fish, prime rib, steak, shrimp- Everything!
And the deserts were amazing I have never seen or ate so much desert in my entire life. I think, actually I know I ate enough calories to last me a month. But it was worth it!!!
Brandon- Happy as can be
A picture out the window of The Roof
Me and a few of the many of my desert plates
A close up of the yummy deserts
The temple again
Brandon after he tasted flan, or got the bill. Either way it put a scour on his face
We walked around temple square for a while after dinner. We had to try and burn off some of our great dinner

20 hours 53 min

Wasatch Back Relay- Ragnar style

So I tried posting this last week and for some reason it didn't save. It frustrated me to no end- but we will try again.

Corporate Chaos finished the 181 mile race in a short 20hrs and 53 min. Yeah!! Brandon's team was 8th overall- which is amazing!!! There were over 550 teams. They won their division- "Corporate" and actually are the first corporate team to break 21 hrs ever. The next corporate team was over 4hrs behind them. Brandon seemed to really enjoy this race but it sure kicked his butt!!!

He ran his first leg at 3:30pm, it was 6.7 miles long and about 90 degrees. Brandon was not ready for the heat and was glad just to finish this leg. He ran it in about 49min about 1min 20sec behind his "predicted time."

10:30pm time to run again. This leg was an easier 3 mile jaunt. It had cooled off a bit and he did it in 21min, about 30sec ahead of his predicted time.

2am time to try and get some sleep. They threw some sleeping bags on the grass at a park and tried to get some snooze time.

4am- Time to get up and in the van again.

5:30am Brandon runs his last and final leg. He enjoyed the 5.3miles from Oakley to Kamas. He stated the sun was just coming up and over Timpanogos Mtn. He ran his last leg in 38min about 30sec behind predicted time.

11:45am The entire team runs the last few hundred yard to cross the finish line. YEAH!!

Brandon was sure beat by the time he got home on Saturday. I let him take a little nap, about 1 1/2hrs and then his mean wife made him get up to play!! I was bored as he had left me all by my self for the weekend. Grrr.

For the love of the RUN!!

Brandon is a crazy running fool! He got a call this week begging him to run the Wasatch Back relay this weekend. It is a 180 mile race from Logan to Park City. Brandon will be running 3 different legs ranging from 3-6.7 miles. The killer is that he will be running the longest leg 6.7 miles at around 3:30pm this Friday. It is supposed to be 96 degrees. OUCH!
The team he is on is a corporate team and they have won their division the last 2 years- so they are somewhat putting the pressure on him to run pretty dang fast. His other legs shouldn't be as bad- he should be running again around 10:30pm and again at 5am. Fun Stuff!
I am actually a little jealous that he is running it- I wanted to do it! I guess there is always next year.

AHHH- There is only 16 weeks left until St. George Marathon. I'm not sure I am ready to start the "hard core" training. I am a little worried about getting it all in. July is going to be a crazy month with clinicals, school-tests, work, and running. I should be getting 30-40 miles each week this month and I am not sure how I am going to be able to do it. Mornings are out most days- unless I were to get up at 3am- no thanks, and its getting so hot that its hard to run in the afternoons. I guess I will just have to suck it up!

I Scored BIG!!

So this weekend my mom, 2 sisters, and I went to Park City (Girls Day) for my upcoming birthday. I love Park City- you can get some great deals, and this trip was no exception. For a total of $62 bucks I got 8 shirts, 2 pairs of sweat-type capri's, a big bag, and two running hats. Yep it was great. Most of the shirts were $2.50-5 bucks. Plus I won a $25 gift certificate at the new Lucky Brand Outlet (which by the way I am so excited that they finally have one, since Lucky's come in Tall sizes and they one of the few brands I can actually wear) I just recently bought 3 pairs of new pants so I traded it to my mom, for cash so in total I spent a whooping $36 buckaroo's. SCORE!! I called Brandon while I was up there to tell them my great deals- his comment was "see if they will wrap it for me" HaHa- he thinks he is getting off that easy. Did he forget I got him a 4-wheeler for his B-day! I sure haven't!!!

Rockin the HESI and Finals

Today I took the Hesi exam for nursing. I was really nervous about taking it and not passing it. But Luckily I passed. Yeah!! Its so nice to have it done I can now focus on finals. I have 3 next week. I have really slacked on the whole studying thing- personally I think its way over-rated, I would much rather play. O-yeah and watch the NBA Finals. I love basketball. I am really hoping that the Jazz will kick butt this year. I know they will man handle the Rockets but I'm a little worried about them playing the Lakers and the Spurs. I hate the Spurs or could we say "Flops" I am really hoping that the Suns will take care of them- but since they are down 2-0 that may be an unrealistic expectation.
Back to the whole school thing- Brandon took his last final today. He did really well on his circuits and math final. Which is great! The bad thing is that he starts clasees again for spring term next week. Come on BYU give the boy a break!! Luckily I get a week and a half off!!

Happy Birthday Babe!

Sunday, April 20th was Brandon's B-day. He is now 24, "and still poor" (He was 23- with no degree) We always joke around how old we are getting and what we still haven't accomplished. When we first got married I always thought by now we would both be done with school and have a family- well we aren't quite there yet, but we are getting close. Yeah!!
Brandon blowing out his candles
Gotta Love those TRICK Candles!!!

His Cake
Tina, Jesse, and Brandon!
The batteries on my camera were dying- Crappy pictures.
And now to the Presents!!
Or at least one-
Brandon thought he needed a 4-wheeler. So he got a "new" old 4-wheeler.

Salt Lake Marathon

On Saturday my mom and dad ran the Salt Lake Marathon- they decided to do it last minute. My mom asked me to run the last half with her. So on Saturday Brandon ran the last half with my dad and I ran the last half with my mom. Boy am I glad I didn't ran the whole thing!! It sucked, the last half was hard enough. It was like 70 degrees and very very windy. I actually saw my old drill instructor and ran some of it with her as well. Brandon got cured from wanting a motorcycle- while running on the course they saw a police officer on a bike broadsided a car. The cop went flying over the car. Brandon says it was pretty nasty!
