So it’s 50 something outside today and I literally ran up the hill to get the mail just a few minutes ago. I then ran back down the hill because well I am silly and I had on flip flops, I hate to be cold but I just love that feeling when you open the mailbox and you have something inside that isn’t a bill or a junk mailer.
I opened the mailbox to find a little envelope for Madison with what I knew was box tops from my sister for Madison’s collection at school. Yes, she is only 5 so I still get to open the mail even if my name isn’t on it.
What I didn’t know is that the most precious handmade card inside would make me cry. You see my sister would be the first to say “I’m not crafty…you got all the creativeness in our family” but this little handmade card for Madison was oh so creative. They say….whoever they are…that handmade things really come from the heart and well this one sure did.
If a collection of box tops can bring a playground to a school in need then a handmade card can fill a heart, and this one sure did.
This year has been full of so many up and downs starting with the death of a beloved friend and neighbor, moving to Texas only to be forced to leave my home behind, and trying to find my way in yet again another new place to call home and saying earthly goodbye to my Grandpa and beloved pet Aggie. I find that even the simplest reminder of family and how much they mean to me can bring me to that emotional place where tears just roll down your cheeks.
My sister took the time to find colored map pencils and draw the cutest little swing set on a sunny day for my little girl. What an amazing sister she is and what a loving aunt, I can’t wait until I can be a amazing aunt to her sweet child.
I LOVE YOU REBEKAH AND I AM SO THANKFUL YOU ARE MY SISTER! So glad God gave me a sister that day in July.
