South Carolina

Well we have returned from our extended weekend trip to South Carolina.  We had a great time, especially Madison.

Tee-ball with Grandpa.  Madison definitely gets her athletic ability from her Daddy.

Meeting a distant cousin named Hannah at our special Quattlebaum dinner, Madison loves babies.  Sorry I don't have the pictures from the Bowers family lunch at Shealy's but it was yummy.

Photos with Mama June and PaPa Quattlebaum after our delicious fried chicken lunch.  Madison leaned over to Mama June and said, "Mama June you make the best fried chicken in the whole world."  I think Madison might get fried chicken any time she asks for it now at Mama June's.

For all my fans

Well you know its hard living the life of an adored sister.   I am constantly getting requests to update my blog.  Honestly not that much happens in the small town of Gainesville, FL.  Lately we have been hot, humid, and experiencing daily showers, well at least at our house.  We have been hanging out mostly at home in order to stay cool and conserve funds although we do swim at the pool and go to the free movie once a week.  But of course that doesn't mean we have been short on the laughs with Madison.

IMG_5732

Here is how I found Madison last Tuesday after returning from my shower.  Apparently the pink and purple bed time friends where invited out to watch Handy Mandy movie style.  I am sure if Madison could have reached the movie snacks they would have shared those too.

I have been going through some of the boxes in the spare closets in order to consolidate things before we move whenever that may be.  Well one of these boxes had Chris' very old Sony Walkman.  I think it is one of the originals because it is very heavy and clunky.  Well Madison asked what it was as she is mashing all the buttons and I told her it plays music.  Of course then she wanted to hear it so I found some batteries and her headphones and went to put in a tape for her, which she also wanted to know what is that.  We quickly found out that the tape player no longer works but I switched it to the FM function and she listened to the music for a few minutes and danced.  Then decided holding the player was too much work and she moved on to something else.  I am sure if Madison's Uncle Justin were to read this in his "All things Apple Wisdom"  he would say that girls needs an ipod but for now we will stick to CDs in the car.

And here we have Madison today as she was all dressed for church this morning.  I love that little grin and those freshly trimmed locks.  And yes of course we are carrying the ever popular Tinkerbell cell phone.  This thing goes everywhere with us.  We have all posed for numerous photos and bideos, aka videos, yes even poor little Aggie.  Honestly I am thankful that the playback feature was deleted from this model because I am sure most of the photos are headless or of my behind.  Madison is constantly running up to me saying "Mommy say cheese."  We definitely have a budding photographer, pretty much if Chris and I are in the same photo then Madison has taken the picture.

No photo to go along with this one but its funny.  So today we were driving home from church and Madison asks me, "Mommy where do we live."  I responded well right now we live in Gainesville.  Then Madison asks where will we live when we move?  (Now we haven't talked with Madison about moving but I guess she has just taken this in from our other conversations. )  I said well Madison I think we are going to live in Atlanta for awhile.  "Lanta I don't want to live in Lanta."  Madison there are going to be so many fun things to do in Atlanta, we can go to the zoo, and the aquarium and kids museums.  And best of all its a lot closer to Grammy and Grandpa.  "Are we going to live with Grammy and Grandpa?"  No baby we are not going to live with Grammy and Grandpa but we will live closer.  "Yeah they live far far away."  Yes sweetie they do.  "I don't want to live in Lanta they have dogs. " Well I started thinking what is she talking about dogs for, its not like she knows Georgia is bulldog country, then she goes on a little more and I realize she is talking about the people that live in the house right next door to Grammy and Grandpa and they have two dogs that are sometimes in the front yard.  I explained that we wouldn't exactly be that close to Grammy and Grandpa.  She then said "Well why don't they just come live with us."  So according to Madison I need to find a pretty big place in Atlanta because we are going to have an apartment full of invited guests/roommates.

The Great Mystery.  After the "Lanta" conversation Madison quickly moves on to ask me "Mommy you know that door that you go by everyday where does it go?"  I am racking my brain trying to figure out what the heck is she talking about.  Mommy you know the one by the glass windows and the bushes.  Madison I don't know what you are talking about.  Is it the bathroom door, no; the closet door, no; I don't know you are going to have to show me.  Well as soon as she jumps out of the car she runs over to the Mystery Door.  I guess this door has been bothering her for sometime.  Honestly it really doesn't make much sense but this door is kind of the the door to no where, at least not anywhere fun.  I told her to follow me and I would show her.  You see this door is just another awkward entrance to our garage off our front porch.  Most of the houses in our neighborhood have doors on the other side for easy access to the backyard but not ours.  When I showed her the inside of the garage and the door hidden behind the giant trash dumpster she had this quizzical yet relieved look on her face.  We had solve mystery of The Mysterious Door.

So to my adoring fans I hope that this post will be enough to hold you over as it looks like a week of just more of the same.  Next weekend we are driving to SC for Chris to meet with his Clemson Grad School Advisor and of course to visit with family as well.  So I am sure we will have more fun stories to share.  Madison doesn't know yet but I am sure the first thing she is going to ask is "Can I Go Fishing?"  This girl is hooked for sure.

Kika Silva Pla Planetarium

 IMG_5727 IMG_5728IMG_5729

Well last weekend we took Madison to the Planetarium.  We were supposed to see a really cool show/presentation about the planets and space.  Madison really wanted to see Saturn with the rings, that is her favorite planet she learned about on Little Einstein's.  But as we were paying our money they told us that they had preempted that show for one about Extreme Planets that exist beyond our solar system.  It was a little out there and not really kid friendly but the pictures turned out cute so I decided to share them.

Ivory

IMG_5726

Yes, Ivory.  One might ask why is Kim blogging about soap.  Well you see last night Madison was quiet and when we called for her she came running from our bathroom and said she was looking for the dental floss.  I said ok and got it for her.  Just a little while later Chris went back to the bathroom and found this half eaten full size bar of Ivory soap on the floor.  I was quick to say it must have been the dog since we believe he is part goat.  Chris quickly pointed out that he had CSI'd it and found the teeth impressions that were an exactly match to our Madison.  You see I was never fond of the whole make your kid eat soap idea, especially since Madison tried to eat a cascade gel pack when she was a baby and I was all freaked out about it.  Madison apparently likes the taste of soap as she took not one giant bite but two.  First I thought she had swallowed the pieces but Chris then found she had spit them out in my sink and some tiny pieces in the toilet apparently she tried to wipe the taste off her tongue too with toilet paper.  When confronted and told that she couldn't eat anything except "food and drink", our household mantra, and told it could be dangerous and that she might have to have her stomach pumped she didn't like that idea.  She said no mommy I don't want the pumper and quickly had a list of questions every one must want to know when learning of a medical emergency procedures.

1.  What kind of shirt will they make me wear, will it be like Aunt Sherry's?  (She had seen Aunt Sherry in the hospital after her two heart attacks in May, not sure if she liked the shirt or didn't want one.)

2.  What kind of bed will they lay me on?  (She had seen Grammy play with Aunt Sherry's bed and I think she wanted to take a ride.)

3. What kinds of snacks will they have?  (One of Aunt Sherry's nice nurses gave Madison a little small cup of Strawberry Blue Bell Ice Cream and I think she wanted more.)

So after we answered these serious questions and again explained that Mommy and Daddy's bathroom is not a play area she gave us her sweet sincere apologies.  Then we brushed her teeth which already smelled florally fresh and got her to bed.  After closing the door Chris and I had one more good laugh over the soap and enjoy the rest of our quiet evening.

Independence Weekend

We celebrated our independence family style.  We played in the pool, grilled, played with fireworks, and went to the movies.  Wish we could have more 3 day weekends.

Madison played ball with Daddy in the front yard.

IMG_5601

We enjoyed having the pool all to ourselves on Friday and shared it a little on Saturday.

Then we grilled Saturday night and had fun on the back porch.

We shot off some of our own fireworks and watched some of our neighbors too.  We all had fun.

Madison lighting her first firework, yes I was a little freaked but Daddy didn't let her get hurt.
