I'm not sure if we even like "Petite Sirah" but I had to get this wine just because of the name and the label!

Whole chicken in the crock pot. It was a new recipe for me and the first time I've put a whole chicken (or mini-turkey) in the crock pot so I was a little sketchy about how it'd turn out. Would it cook all the way through? Would it be dry? Would it be good?? Lemme just say that the recipe was fall-off-the-bone AWESOME!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!
We got our Costco tree on Friday and set everything up on the following Sunday. Last year, we were so unmotivated to get the decorations up and probably wouldn't have had Josh's parents not come to stay with us. This year, we couldn't wait! Mostly, I think we couldn't wait to see Legion try to take down the tree because he thought it was a stick for him....
The dogs did really well though and have left the tree alone. Our first tree skirt didn't fare so well though: Legion chewed it up. The next morning, it looked like a snowman exploded. We found a nose here, an eye there, another eye near the crates, some stuffing strewn about. Poor snowman...
Our annual ornaments: Josh got another Where the Wild Things Are and I got my Frosty Friends.

And Josh's very special ornament.

Our family ornament.

The kids' stockings: Abbi's, Hayden's, and Legion's.

The stockings were hung by the chimmney with care.

Our holiday music.

Our tree supervisor, on her stacked beds.

The dogs were exhausted from all of the excitement.

My decorated table. Please don't mind the naked spot on the wall above it...

The finished tree!! Apparently, our past trees haven't been as bushy as this one so we ran out of lights a little at the bottom. Neither one of us wanted to deal with the holiday people so we just left it like this. We'll hit the after-Christmas sales though to get a smokin' deal on a few new strands of lights so we don't have this problem next year.

How crazy Abbi really is....
Let me set the mood..... Gina and I were being lazy last weekend and falling asleep in the living room. Hayden was fast asleep at Gina's feet , Legion was sleeping upside down (probably to cool himself off ????) on one of the dog beds near the floor lamp, and Abbi, well Abbi is very put out that I would not share the love seat with her and that Hayden had already laid steak to her favorite spot next to her mom.... Well, after several disappointing attempts to convince me to reconsider and several stare-downs and high pitched, but soft whining sessions, she relented. She then decided she wanted to snuggle under a blanket as she often does. She scooped at the blanket several times and finally gets under and decides now that she is under the blanket she just needed to find a comfy place to blindly lay down. she started at the mid section of the couch when first getting under the blanket , but now had no idea where she was after frantically trying to get under her blanket. Unknown to her she was dead center of the room between the end of the couch and the fire place. I could see her look right then left then right again. She then decides to try to get out of the blanket to see where she is going to finally lay down. Now, however she is completely entangled in her own blanket and cannot get out. So she does the only logical thing, she runs full tilt in one direction. Well her direction of travel was straight into the couch, then thatsolved nothing, so she then turned 180 degrees and ran the the other direction right over Legion (who was sound asleep) tripping over him startling him into kicking his feet that in return kicked Abbi whom by this time had already stumbled into the wall and had turned and ran back over towards the couch. And was still entangled in a panic blindness of blanket horror. Legion then knocked over the floor lamp, which toppled over and hit Abbi ( not hurting , but she thought she was being killed, she bolted for the bedroom still covered by the blanket crashing into a crate on the way out. Gina is slowly waking up to my laughter and of course the comotion. We vthen listen for Abbi's return which did not happen very soon. We here the panting of the terrified princess out on the back patio and then the long sobering lapping of what seemed to be gallons of water to chase away the reality that the light was going to kill her while she was blind and still not cuddled up next to her mom.
The moral of this story is: Abbi is crazy
Abbi thinks the moral of this story is mom is a jerk for letting Hayden stay there instead of her, dad is a jerk for being selfish for not sharing the loveseat, Legion is a jerk for trying to kill her with a lamp and blankets are nice and cozy, but don't ever trust them.

My poor hat!! The first time that Legion got ahold of it, the button on the top was chewed off. Come to think of it, it never re-appeared... The second time that Legion and Hayden got it, they chewed the tag off and a little of the embroidery on the front. This is from last time that Legion got it. One would think, with all of the interest that the boys have in my hat, that I'd put it in a very safe place. I was under the very wrong assumption that the top of our high-boy dressers was a very safe place...

This is probably the craziest show that I've seen!!! The last episode with Augustine was the most dramatic that they've show so far. It's so sad that these people live like they do...

I'm sure to the great dismay of the leaf-lickers, we've been using the heck outta the fireplace! We haven't turned the heater on at all since it's been chilly here. But I think that's more because I'm a bit of a cheap-o.... Hey, that's what blankets are for, right?? And when you have about 215 pounds of DOG on you, it tends to be a bit toasty.

This handsome devil is now 83 pounds!!! And he's not even seven months old yet!! The breeder says that he's about on track to be 120-125 pounds full grown. Although, since he is growing so fast, he might be around 130, which would make him just that more impressive. We're continuing with the conformation classes, hoping to get him the show ring for the first time in December. And then we'll see where that takes us!!

Thanksgiving, 2009
Other than being happy to spend the day with the hubs, my parents, my gramma, and my aunt, my brother, my sister-in-law, and their three very squishable kids came to town!!! Woo hoo! We hadn't seen them since they were all here in July and Tami was still pregnant with Elijah. This trip, we didn't see much of Noelle and Elijiah is still very much a baby. But when he's awake, he's such a happy little boy! Corom, wow...Corom. He's such an awesome kid! After our dinner on Thursday, Dan and Tami took Noelle and Elijah to the Shirley's for their dinner. Corom stayed behind because he wasn't feeling well. My parents were cleaning up and doing the dishes so Josh and I got to play auntie and uncle for a couple of hours. Before Noelle left to her other grandparents' house though, I asked her if she was going to come see the dogs before she left. She said "Not this trip, but next time, I'm sure." Okay, Noelle, I'm gonna hold you to that! ;)
Here are some pictures.
Sorry mom and gramma, for getting you with food in your mouths!

Corom, "reading" the Leap Frog book
Uncle Josh and Corom playing with stickers. We both ended up with our pants covered with them by the time they were done.
Posed on Nana and Papa's fireplace
Make sure you get me from my good angle!
You didn't think the dogs got left out, did you??? They got sliced turkey and sweet potatoes with their kibble for dinner.
And thoroughly made a mess on the floor....
We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed Dan & Tami's short visit out here. Can't wait until they come back for Christmas!!
