last weekend a couple of my girlie friends and i went camping in va beach. we slept in tents, made our own fire, got eaten alive by mosquitoes (at least i did), laid out on the beach, swam in the waves, made sandcastles (well, darla did), did lots and LOTS of talking, told stories, ate smores, and watched project runway on my laptop in the tent. that last thing was the only non-camping thing we did, except eat both dinners out. haha, but all in all it was a great time had by all. and i have to mention that it did take us 2 hours to get the fire started the first night, but we learned from our mistakes and got the fire started in 45 minutes the second night. and we also didnt shower all weekend so we were nice and stinky for our husbands by the time we got home on monday evening.

here we are right before departure. the truck is
loaded up and ready to roll.
elissa and darla getting frustrated
with the non-existent fire. well, truthfully
elissa was the driving force behind that fire
even making it past 20 minutes, because i
was frustrated and too impatient to try to keep a fire
going at that point. so all the credit really goes to
elissa for her determination to get it roaring.
and she was successful.

blowing, blowing, blowing. fire
making takes LOTS of blowing.

darla and her sandcastle.

me, being cute in that hat while talking to brade.

elissa and darla, my cutie friends on the beach.
