IIQuick and Easy Body Scrub RecipeII Essential Oil Style
Here is a quick and easy sugar body scrub recipe to try out! I love making this scrub and use it twice a week to slough off the dullness. Unlike lots of body scrubs, this scrub has no chemicals or artificial colors. No toxins or harmful ingredients! It's 100% great for your skin.
What you need:
a glass jar
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of coconut oil
10 drops of Young Living essential oil
of your choice( I love grapefruit and peppermint )
Mix your sugar and coconut oil in a bowl until it's nice and blended. Add 10 drops of your favorite essential oil and mix in to the sugar/coconut oil mixture. Once everything is mixed together, spoon into your jar. See, super easy! This recipe makes about 8 oz and will last you for a few months! Enjoy!
A Leaf Craft for the Weekend!
Happy Saturday!
A few days ago the kids and I headed to a local park to collect leaves. Fall is one of my most favorite seasons( it's a close second behind summer )! I love the chilly weather, pumpkins, sweaters, and the crunchy, colorful leaves. We love crafts around here and I thought it would be fun to do a couple with the leaves that we went to collect. The smallest little adventures are the most fun for my 2 minis! Rowen loved the thrill of finding the biggest leaf and finding the smallest leaf and the most colorful leaf...and on and on. He made a game out of our leaf collecting and sweet little sister played along.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A little how to for the leaf craft:
What you need:
paper
leaves
a pen/marker
glue stick
Start by drawing out a couple pictures. I drew a pumpkin and a leaf. While I was drawing, Rowen was crunching up our leaves. The leaves here are still pretty fresh and not very crunchy so we ended up tearing most of them up with our fingers.
Next, trace your pictures with the glue stick and start sprinkling the the leaves on the glue. This is where the "glitter" name comes in...you sprinkle the leaves the they're glitter. Once again, since ours weren't very crunchy, we just placed pieces on the glue and pressed them down with our fingers.
Once you have pressed your leaves over the glue, lift your paper up and gently shake off the excess. There ya go! Glitter Leaf pictures.

Tree Shading Activity For Kids
My kids love crafts! Painting, coloring, drawing, gluing...you name it, they'll love doing it. While Rowen was napping yesterday, I was looking out the window and noticing leaves are beginning to fall of off the trees and become dry and crunchy. That thought lead me to thinking about all the leaf shading we had fun doing last Fall. Seeing the tree that the leaves were falling from made me think of a great idea for a new activity. Enter: tree shadings! We have quite a few trees in the backyard that worked perfectly for the tree shading craft. You I'm sure have everything that your kids need for this easy activity already at home.
What you need:
paper
tape
crayons
I taped white printer paper using washi tape to one of the trees in our backyard. The kids picked out a crayon and started shading! Isla( who is not yet 2 )even loved this! She loves coloring so I figured she would like it as much as her big brother!
shading together
love the concentration
If your kids enjoy coloring and they like playing outside, you might want to give this fun activity a try!

DollyWood 2015
We took a little family trip a few weekends ago to DollyWood! Brent thought it would be fun to take the kids there and I suggested that we make that our Anniversary trip this year.
the girls
sweet traveler
It was so fun. That's the first trip in a long time where it was just the 4 of us...it was perfect. We got to Pigeon Forge around 2 or 3 on a Saturday afternoon. We threw our luggage in our hotel room and off we went. If you go to Dollywood after 3pm, you get the next day for FREE! We took advantage of that deal and a day and a half in the park was the perfect amount. We rode a couple rides on Saturday and looked around a little. After a few hours we left and headed to grab dinner.
the carousel was up first
rowen's first roller coaster
making dessert pizza at the restaurant
We woke up Sunday and before heading to DollyWood, Brent wanted to take Rowen panning for gemstones. It was a great idea! Rowen loved this activity. He got so excited every time he found a stone...he even found an arrowhead.
so proud of his bag of stones
We headed to the park after that and Rowen wanted to ride all the rides!! Even the big kid rides...fearless I tell ya! He wanted to ride this up and down drop type ride and he was tall enough so off he and Brent went. I was a little nervous but of course he loved it!!
he looks so tiny
There were about 5 rides that Isla could ride. I didn't know if she would like riding with out Brent or myself...she loved riding with her big brother!! It was definitely a sweet moment. Sweet memories of her and Rowen riding rides together.
We rounded up the day with a few more rides for Rowen, taking a look at the magnificent bald eagle sanctuary, and a grown up ride that I did solo...well I was with 17 other strangers. It was a scary roller coaster! Half way through I thought "oh geez, I'm too old for this"!! But I've realized that I'll be going on crazy rides like that one when the kids are a little older! I actually love amusement park rides but goodness that one was intense!
a few little owls
my chauffeur-he loved this ride
and done
It was such a fun little weekend getaway...just the 4 of us! I'm already looking for another family trip soon!

Ugh...bug bites. I have something you need!
I always remember to spray my kids with our all natural bug spray when we go outside but seem to forget to spray myself! I went out back Tuesday afternoon to do my workout and when I came in 30 minutes later, I had three big mosquito bites on one of my legs. I immediately grabbed my bug bite rollerball.
Lavender essential oil and Tea Tree essential oil are 2 oils that do wonders for bug bites. Together they almost immediately stop the itching and within an hour my bites had gone down significantly in size. I love making rollerballs because they are so easy to use. Roll on and go!
For this bug bite rollerball:: I added 20 drops of liquid (fractionated) coconut oil, 20 drops of Lavender, and 20 drops of Tea Tree oil (also known as Melaleuca Alternifolia ). I just love essential oils and am so glad that our family can turn to natural essential oils instead of OTC medications!
**If you have any questions about Young Living essential oils, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Rowen's first day of preschool 2015
Rowen started his second year of preschool yesterday! He was so excited to go back...just take a look!
I know he's mine buuuutttt....isn't he the cutest?!!
One of the many things I love about this sweet boy of mine is that he has never had separation anxiety! Now some moms might think that's sad and they feel like they would want their child to miss them. I'm really talking about the absence of tears/crying/screaming...He's never been one to cry when I have dropped him off at class at church or now at school...thank you Lord! Really. I'm so thankful. I witnessed the tears and those sweet new kids clinging to mommy's leg...you know what I'm talking about! I feel so relieved when he runs right in, says hey to his friends, and starts playing. And I LOVE the preschool that he attends which makes leaving him that much easier on me!
The first day wouldn't be complete without some fun food for lunch! I made him a dino sandwich which he informed me he ate all of! Last year I made him some foods in fun shapes on the first day and just kind of kept up with it the whole school year so I'm going to keep up our tradition of fun cute foods for lunch. He likes it and I of course have fun doing it...win win!
I pray he has a very good year filled with lots of learning and fun memories!
**On Monday evening( the night before preschool )we read a super cute book called: The Night Before Preschool. He enjoyed the story and this will be a fun little tradition that we can do every year before school starts!
There's one for kindergarten and first grade too. Check out the link HERE!
