To finish off the weekend, I had one last bridal shower to go to. It was for Michelle, who is Ivy's youngest sister, but also just like family. Ivy did her engagement pictures the day before and they turned out beautiful, I'm sure she'll post some on her blog. Anyway, Becca and Ivy threw the shower and everything was so pretty (and yummy!!). Michelle was very excited and I wish her all the love and happiness she deserves!

Abby is...MARRIED!!!!!!
The last couple of weeks you have seen me post about Abby's shower and bachelorette party, well, the time finally came and Abby is now Mrs. Hall!!!! The wedding was ABSOLUTELY beautiful and perfect. The ceremony took place in the Russell Carr Chapel at TCU and then the reception was at Texas & Pacific in downtown Ft. Worth. The cake was magnificent and the dancing was lots of fun. Abby of course looked like perfection and everything went so smoothly. I am so happy for you Abby & Russ! All of my wishes and love for a great life together!
Father/Daughter Dance
Ok, so as usual, we had another jam packed weekend. Friday night was the father/daughter dance at Ryleigh's school and to say she was excited would be minimizing it. Let's just say that for the last 3 years that Brent has been in school, Rye could not understand why David and her could not go ahead and partake in the dance! So her big moment finally arrived and of course, we had to go dress and shoe shopping (we also bought new clothes for Daddy!) The theme was "Pop Star" so of course Ryleigh was ecstatic when we found Hannah Montana shoes! David made the whole night like a real date for her so they were not allowed to see each other and then he surprised her by ringing the door bell and having flowers for her!! They then went out to dinner together and then to the dance. Of course, they had a blast and danced all night. I cannot express how lucky I feel to have a husband that is there for his children and loves them beyond measure. I know that is the way relationships should be with our parents, but as some of us know, it doesn't always work out that way. Ryleigh, Brent and I are TRULY BLESSED to have David and I thank God for him everyday. I love you David, thanks for being so amazing.

God was watching over us
David and I had decided on a very low key valentine's day this year, and by that I mean, he was going to go to work, we were not going to exchange gifts (I have pictures to buy!) and I had planned on doing nothing all day because I was prepared to have a hangover from Friday night. Funny how things never work out the way you plan. I was going to cook some lunch so David would have food to take to work with him. Well, I needed some vegetable oil and since I had lent mine out the night before, I asked David to go ask one of the neighbors for some. He got some from our neighbor Cindy and gave it to Ryleigh to bring back in. I proceeded to pour some in the pot and put the heat on high because I had already cut up the pork chops. Before I had a chance to put the meat in however, David came in telling me that Cindy is going to have to put her dog Jake down because he has a tumor in his leg and there is nothing else that can be done. Anyone that is a dog lover and/or has lost a pet knows how devastating this is and it made me really upset. David suggested that I should go say bye to Jake and see Cindy, so I did. You probably know where this is leading...I COMPLETELY forgot that I had grease in the pot on the stove. Ryleigh and I walked next door and we were there for probably 5 - 10 minutes. We had gone out of the front door and left it open, luckily, and as soon as we came around the corner all I saw was a rolling cloud of black smoke pouring out of my house. I immediately started running and screaming for David and when I turned into the kitchen, all I could see of the top of the stove were flames. The flames had completely engulfed the microwave and cabinets and were shooting up to the ceiling. My heart completely stopped, I just knew I was about to lose my house. I grabbed the kids and threw them outside and then came back in. By this point, which felt like a lifetime but was probably 30 seconds, the smoke was already starting to descend to eye level. David grabbed the pot and ran and threw it out on the back porch but the few knick knacks that were on top of the cabinets had also caught fire so he had to come back and put those out. We ended up with soot, water and plastic particles everywhere but at least we still have a home. I am so happy and lucky to be able to write this and say that everyone in our family is ok and that is the most important thing. I still am in complete shock and keep thinking that it is a bad nightmare that really didn't happen but everytime I walk into the kitchen the proof is staring at me and anytime I walk into the house I am greeted with the unpleasant smell of burnt plastic. I can't believe how heavy the smoke was after just a few minutes and how badly my lungs hurt afterwards. David ended up with a few burns on his arms but nothing worse than a cooking burn. I am glad that as scary as it was neither of us panicked and tried to pour water on it, although I am still not sure how either of us was capable of a rational thought at that moment. PLEASE PLEASE everyone invest in a fire extinguisher if you don't already have one, I know we will be. Of course noone ever thinks that something like this will happen to them, but it does and all it takes it one second of a distraction and then you are on a different path. My love to all and wishes for everyone's continued safety and health.
Abby's Bachelorette Party
Not to be outdone by the guys last weekend, it was the girls go round on Friday. We started the evening with a lingerie party at Abby's house and then we headed out to Billy Bob's in a limo. I think it is safe to say that a blast was had by all...I can't wait for the wedding next weekend!! (Abby, I promise not to post anything too embarrassing :-)
Valentine's Day Parties
So Friday was a busy day! The kids had their pictures taken by Ann Beck that morning, I cannot wait to see what she captured, she is so good!! Anyway, afterwards we went to breakfast/lunch with Ivy, Nolan and Hudson and then I took the kids to school so they wouldn't miss their v-day parties. It was Ryleigh's first so of course she had to be there :-). Next up, Abby's bachelorette party!!

Welcome Kendall Nicole!!
This beautiful baby girl joined the world on Saturday and I could not be more excited for her parents. Their names are Jennifer & Justin and I consider them part of my extended family. We aren't quite related yet but his sister is my brother's girlfriend (and they've been together for over 6 years) so at this point, they are definitely family. They are a very sweet couple and Ryleigh had the honor of being their flower girl. I couldn't resist doing her first photo shoot at the hospital...she was born to model!!

My first blog!
Ok, so we all know that I love to talk and share pictures so instead of always bombarding you all with emails, I thought I would give this a try. I have enjoyed looking at my friends' blogs, so I thought I would jump on board. I promise to do my best to keep this updated..we'll see!! I know that it is already February, but we have had a lot going on this year that I would like to share so I am going to date back to the first of the year so be sure to check it all out (it will probably get archived!)
Swimming in February
The kids were invited to one more party this week and it involved swimming!! Yes, swimming in February, but remember we are in Texas, and of course, it was an indoor swimming pool. Marianna is the little girl who was having her 6th birthday and she and her family live around the corner from us. They also have a son Max who is Brent's age. There is a new gym down the street that you can have your birthday party at and that is where we went. The kids all had pizza and cake first and then it was time for swimming. The kids were so excited since we normally have to wait about 4 more months before they can hop in a pool.

Grandpa turns 49!
My Dad turned 49 on Wednesday, but with David working 2nd shift, Mom decided to hold off on the birthday dinner until Saturday. We went to Texas Roadhouse and David's parents also went with us. When it was time for the birthday celebration, Grandpa was not about to get on the saddle but he actually was more into it than we expected (check out the vid below)!! I can't believe next year is the big 5-0!!! Better get started on that planning...
P.S. Happy Birthday! Thanks for the life that you gave me...I love you!

Madi's 9th birthday
WOW...another little one that isn't so little anymore...we have known Madison since she was 13 months old and her and Brent were running around in diapers together. They used to live next door to us and the two of them would roll down the hill all evening. Unfortunately, they no longer live next door but they are still very close family friends and have adopted Ryleigh! Even though she is 3 years younger than Madi, she and her sister Alix are always gracious enough to ask her to spend the night and also invite her to their birthday parties. We joke that sometimes we think Ryleigh actually goes over there for Dana (Madi's mom) though...the two of them together is something else! This year Madi is also turning 9 and her party was at Alley Cats. Rye was very excited because we rode in a limo! We had such a blast and love this family! Happy Birthday Madi!
