Dr. Dad...not so much
Where to start...let's backtrack a couple of days. Ryleigh was complaining of a bellyache and so I went to the cabinet for the children's Pepto (of which we had 3 full bottles about a month ago, apparently I kept stocking up on it). The one time I actually needed it though, it is NOWHERE to be found. Where 3 bottles wandered off to I have no idea, but isn't that how it always is?? Anyway, eventually her stomach felt better so we didn't worry about it anymore. This leads us to today...she came in complaining again that her belly hurt so I called David to ask him to pick up some Pepto for her. Then I started thinking that maybe her problem is that she actually NEEDS to go to the bathroom, considering that at 6 I don't monitor her bathroom breaks :) I asked her some questions about this and of course, she has no clue. So I called D again and also suggested he pick up something for that particular problem. When he showed up, I was on the phone and, being the good Dad that he is, he went into the kids room and administered the medicine. It wasn't until he came out, with Rye in tow and said, "Of course, now her belly hurts.." that I realized what was going on. So with a confused look on my face I said, "Well, of course it does, she's the one that's been complaining about it.." (can you guess where this story is going??) If you guessed that he gave the medicine to BRENT instead of RYLEIGH then you win!! Yes, he went in and gave Brent a laxative strip (for kids of course) and 2 pepto pills and what did B do, he took it!! At this point what can you do except laugh and hope that B doesn't end up in the bathroom for the rest of the night...my poor baby.

Another day, another fight
So, I'm not entirely sure what they were fighting about but as I sat here blogging this is what I heard in the background:
R - "Brent, you know, I try so hard and all I want to do is always play with you but you just keep being mean to me" (exits stage left as she stomps to her room and slams, I mean closes, her door)
B - "Whatever Ryleigh"
(door opens and now with a cracking voice) R - "You know all I ever want is to be a nice sister, I don't like having to be a mean sister but see what you do to me!"
B (in a I'm your Dad voice) - "We are NOT having this conversation!"
At this point, Ryleigh closes his door and against his wishes, they DID continue to have that conversation. Poor Brent, he has no clue what he's in for...

Time with family
The rest of the weekend was full of time with friends and family...I know you're thinking we're are usually always with friends and family on the weekends but this was on a more laid back scale :-). Friday night I went to dinner at Los Vaqueros with my parents, Eric and Ashley and all of Ashley's family. We had such a good time and of course the food and margaritas just made it better. I wish I had taken some pics because Landon was hilarious with the mariachis and everytime they would go away, he would yell, "Come back here, come back!" I think little miss Kendall enjoyed herself too! I am so glad that our families mesh so well because I truly love them and have a blast hanging out with all of them. On Saturday, one of the neighborhood boys had a birthday party so I took the kids for a while. His parents had rented a huge water slide that looked like SO MUCH fun, I think we need to have an adult party and rent it! It wasn't the typical climb up and go down slide, it was more of a slip and slide on a much larger scale! Anyway, once the kids were worn out we came back home and then Shane and Kim came over. Shane is David's cousin who is in the Navy right now and currently living in CA. He had to have surgery on his shoulder recently so he was able to take a small leave and surprise everyone by coming home. Unfortunately, David had to work Sat. night, but I was so glad that S & K didn't mind hanging out with just me!! They stayed until D got home and then Lucas and Carl even came by later...of course it was another night that we stayed up WAY too late, but I figure I can sleep when I'm dead, right?!?! I had planned on having Sunday as a lazy day, but I ended up going over and painting my mom's kitchen and bathroom with my brother. She had someone come over a couple of weeks ago and get rid of the wall paper and texture the walls. Only thing is, the first paint color she picked was entirely too light and just looked white. So Eric and I headed over there and went back over it and it looks really good now, I'll have to take some pics to post later. Whew, I'm tired now just rethinking of everything, but you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.
Lake Granbury
Oh to have a house on the lake...we hope to one day! The amazing memories we would make there would be well worth the second mortgage, all I have to do is figure out how to pay for it :). Anyway, they have an area out at Lake Granbury that has a little beach area that Ivy had taken her boys to a couple of weeks ago, so when she called and asked if we wanted to go, I knew the kids would love it! True to form, they initally all got in the water and then slowly Nolan and Hud migrated out to the sand to play with their diggers, Brent wanted to be buried in the sand and Rye just wanted to hang with the girls and listen in on our conversation (we kept having to shoo her away :) They also have just a small water area that the kids had fun running around in. After we finished there, we went downtown to buy some dip mixes and then to a bbq restaurant. If you happen to know my son, he is quite picky. Of course, there were no chicken strips on the menu so he just had a bag of chips but kept saying he was fine. The thing that made me laugh was when we were leaving, under his breath I heard him say, "You know, a pizza inside of a Little Caesar's box sure sounds good right about now..." Right! Better luck next time buddy (and exactly who was he talking to?)

Oh no you don't
It's time to re-check the parental controls on the kids tv...Brent just came in and asked me if I had ever seen the show, "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant", of course I IMMEDIATELY told him that he is not allowed to watch that because it has adult content. His answer? It was Ryleigh that wanted to watch it...of course it was, I swear there's a 40 yr. old actually inside of that little body..remind me to buy a house with a basement to lock her in.

Another one bites the dust
Scott is officially 30!!! That's right, he joined the club on Friday and his party was on Saturday night. Ivy threw him an always perfect house party complete with shots and guitar jammin' with the birthday boy himself. We were a little late because of the wedding and reception, but no worries, we kept him partying until the wee hours of the morn. It is so weird for everyone to be getting older but I think deep down we are all getting younger and lovin it. I have said it so many times before but we truly are blessed with the group of friends that we have. It is such a great crowd with a mix of people and it's especially fun that the group just keeps growing. It was another great party and a night we won't soon forget. Happy 30th to my second husband, you know we love ya!

Meet the Jackson's
On Saturday afternoon, Miranda and Percy got married! They are friends of my brother who have become really great friends of ours and we were so happy to be able to share in their moment. It was a beautiful ceremony held at a Catholic church in Arlington and then followed by a reception at the Hilton. Miranda was glowing and Percy was all smiles. You could feel the love in the room between the both of them and especially their families. His brother Charles gave the best man speech and I don't know if there was a dry eye in the house, guys included. These two are really great together and I wish them a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter. Congratulations you guys!
NKOTB, oh how I love thee..
And no, I am not afraid to admit it!! I was SO excited last year when they announced their plans for a reunion tour and you better believe that I was online the moment the presale tix went on sale trying for great seats. With that said, you can imagine how I felt when they ended that tour and went straight into a second tour called the Full Service Tour. I know I am a 29 year old mom of 2 but the sight and sounds of these 5 guys can send the 10 year old in me straight to the surface and make me miss my NKOTB bedding set, pillows, buttons, dolls, posters and tapes. Friday night was so much fun with my girls. We headed out early for dinner and then a little tailgaiting and singing in the parking lot. Finally it was concert time where we all sang at the top of our lungs and screamed like school girls! It was one of the best nights ever, especially since I came home with a GIGANTIC beach ball, and only got better when after the show Donnie hosted an after-party at the Ghost Bar (yes, the same place I had been the night before...I couldn't miss it though!). Donnie, Joey and Danny were there and Donnie got up in the dj booth and sang so many different songs, he really knows how to get a crowd going. I am so glad that Ivy was able to come to the concert after all because it just wouldn't have been the same without her. Tannie of course was in heaven and we all know that when you get me and Ash together, you better watch out, there is never a dull moment between us :). I love you gals, thanks for being there for the memories!!

Danny Wood's Party at the Ghost Bar
On Thursday night Tannie and I headed out to Dallas for a good 'ol club party! Danny Wood from NKOTB greatness hosted a party at the Ghost Bar in honor of his mom that passed away from breast cancer. Now, I am a complete sucker for anything and everything New Kids related but I completely melt at anything that has to do with a son loving his mother and not being afraid to show it. We all know that it is a simple fact of life that more often than not boys grow apart from their moms and start their own families, a fact that makes me so sad. Not that I want Brent to be a mama's boy AT ALL but I do hope that he will still want to be around me and maybe even hang out with me sometimes :). So it of course pulls at my heart strings when grown men do anything that has to do with their moms or their memory. Tannie and I had such a great time and she even got a hug from Danny. And the absolute best part was that ALL of the guys were there!!! This way the best way to start off my NKOTB filled weekend...more on the way!!

70's Disco Derby
Staci, you're the next contestant on the Crew Turns 30! Her husband and best friend threw her a really fun birthday bash on Saturday at the Skatium and it was 70's themed. At first I had no clue what I was going to throw together but alas, Goodwill came through! After I found these ridiculously perfect shoes, I headed to Target to complete the look. Everyone's outfits were so great and we had tons of fun skating and trying to not bust it. Happy 30th Staci!!
Chi-town bound
Thursday morning we packed up and headed out. Our only stop along the way was Chicago...after going to the Arch, we definitely couldn't pass up the Sears Tower which is double the height. I also have a friend that I went to high school with that lives there so it was really good to get to see her for lunch and catch up a bit. After lunch with Jess, we wandered the streets like the true tourists that we were and took in the sights. It was a beautiful day and I really think the best ending to our family vacation. I had so much fun just spending an entire week with them and am truly so blessed. Can't wait to figure out our adventure for next year!!
