Nolan turns 6!

Ya know, these kids are really starting to make me feel OLD! Another year has passed and Nolan is now 6. Ivy had his party at her cousin's store which is called Play N Trade. They sell video games of all kinds, including old school Nintendo (don't think I wasn't all over that!!) and they also have a room in the back where you can have a tournament or birthday party. They have flat screen t.v.'s set up and you can play any system with just about any game. Perfect boy party right?!?! Brent was definitely in his element and Ryleigh had fun too playing Wii bowling with Ivy. I, on the other hand, found a murder/mystery game that I just may have to purchase for the Xbox 360 and I also went back about 20 years and played the original Mario Brothers. Of course this then inspired me to go home and dig out our original Nintendo that my mom bought when I was 7. Gotta say, that turned it into a fabulous Saturday night! Happy Birthday Nolan..thanks for taking me from semi-old to young again all in one day!
Rye was the only girl but I think she secretly gets a kick out of it! ;-)

Happy Birthday Lisa Loo!

I'm so lucky that I have been able to stay pretty close to most of the girls that I used to work with. When I worked there, they were my closest friends and family and it can be so easy to lose touch when you don't see them everyday. Luckily Ivy still works there so that definitely helps keep me in the loop!

Lisa's birthday was coming up and she wanted to do a happy hour so we met at this little place in Euless and boy did we ever make it a happy hour!! At some point in the night I bought Lisa a rose for her b-day and it then turned into our picture prop. We laughed, sang, talked, took TONS of pics and laughed some more. Overall, definitely a girls night for the books. Love ya ladies!!

Lisa didn't like her shot...

Field Day 2010

I was able to take off on Friday and spend the day at Field Day with the kiddos. I was really glad because this is their last one at the same school. Next year there will be no more being able to split time between them, fingers crossed that their activities are on separate days (which would actually make it better!!) Anyways, Eric was off also 'cause he and Ash were gonna spend the day together, so while she got a little extra beauty sleep, he came out and joined me. Since the weather ended up turning bad after lunch time, they weren't able to finish their activities, but we were able to go home and just spend a few quiet hours together. Work has been pretty crazy lately so I feel like I'm missing out on so much and I'm not able to do the things that I have for the last 5 years so I was extra grateful for that time with them.

Where does it go?

I cannot believe that this school year is already coming to an end. Soon enough my baby boy will be in a new school and my lil bit will be navigating this one on her own. He will spend his first few days adjusting to new hallways and changing classrooms and she will know a new independence of walking into school alone in the a.m.'s and waiting in the afternoons by herself. He will establish a new identity, seperate from his little sister and she will no longer be the younger sibling at school. He will create a new footprint for the both of them and eventually she will arrive there but not to walk in his path. That is the amazing thing about the both of them. Although he will always get to experience things first, she will always get there and make it her own. There is something comforting about being in the same school as your brother/sister but it is equally great and important to be your own person. It makes me so sad that they will no longer be together but also so happy because I know that they will flourish. They will part ways and have different things to talk about at the dinner table, never again to be reunited until he is a Sr. and she is a Freshman but always in each other's hearts.

Early Mother's Day gifts are the best!

Ryleigh just could not contain her surprise for me until Sunday so tonight so asked me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. When I opened them I had the following homemade card in my hands:

This is what is says on the front:
Happy Mothers Day
Dear Mom,
I love you so much. You are my favorite person in the world. I love you more than everything in the whole wide world, even infinity and beyond and more than 60 best friends.
Love, Rye Rye
The second pic is the inside left cover and has a picture of me & Ryleigh telling each other I love you. David saw it and said, "Oh look, yall are twins!" (Lol, she drew us exactly the same!)
And here is what the other page on the inside said:
You do so much for us so today is your day to relax. You're the best. Always, xoxo Ryleigh oxox you so much!
I just love my sweet baby girl.
