Mollie's other gifts from Sunday's party

The camera battery died on Sunday before I could take pictures of two of Mollies other gifts. One was the Little Mommy Baby that crawls and "talks." Caleb and Micah gave Mollie this baby. She has had a blast watching her crawl. Ellie ended up using her own money to buy a baby just like Mollie's. So, we now have a purple one and a pink one. Fun, fun!! The other gift that Mollie received was her own easy chair from Pottery Barn. Mom & Papa got it for her. Mollie absolutely loves it! It is pink and has her name on it.

Bye Bye Spring Break

Today was the last day of Spring Break. This is the week we have waited for, for what seems like forever! We were all very ready for a break. However, I think we're all getting the sense that it's time to go back to our normal routine. We didn't do anything overly special this week. Monday was spent cleaning the house (kuddos to my kiddos for helping me keep the house cleaned up!). Tuesday, we went to Wal-Mart and the kids played with Blake Segars while I worked at my dad's office (thanks Britt!). Wednesday, the girls went with me to work; and Ellie got to go to Chuck E. Cheese despite the fact that she swore that she'd never go back (thanks Lesa & Mrs. Edra!). Thursday, we had to cancel plans to go play at Rock Creek with Noah and Mandy b/c our van had to go into the shop. Fortunately, Mimi was able to come over while Brian and I ran to his parents to borrow his mom's car. We did manage to squeeze in a quick trip to Target.

Today, we were suppose to go to Rock Creek with Noah; but Noah has an ear infection. Poor Baby!! (He had to have shots today for his ears. They will find out in April if he has to have tubes. Please pray for the doctor to know exactly what to do for Noah.) Since we didn't get to go play, the girls reminded me that I had promised them that we would paint. So, it was off to Michael's we went. Ellie picked out a box, and Mollie picked out a cross. I thought we had washable paints at home. However, we did not! So, we used acrylic paint. The girls did an awesome job! I have to admit that we had a really good time!

Mollie painting her cross. She couldn't stand getting paint on her fingers. We went through a ton of wipes!

Mollie was the first to finish her project. She ended up laying with the package of brushes and the plates we used as paint trays.

Happy Birthday Mollie - Celebration #1

In a few short days, my baby Mollie Ruth will turn 2! It is hard to believe that it has been 2 years since Mollie joined our family. I definitely could not imagine life without her. She is such a joy. We celebrated Mollie's birthday with my family on Sunday at our family lunch. We had an early celebration so that Micah and Kelsey (aka Bubba and Dunna) could be there. Caleb had to leave early Sunday morning to get back to College Station. Mandy, Josh and Noah were there too along with Mom and Papa. We had her party at Mimi and Papa Jim's. I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time.

Mollie loves Winnie the Pooh. So, we had to get her a Pooh cake. Her cake was awesome. It was from Maggie Moo's, a great ice cream shop here in LR.

Mollie wasn't quite sure what to think when we all started singing. We had to relight her candles because Ellie blew them out the first time. :)

Mandy, Josh and Noah got Mollie a Snow White Barbie. Mollie loves Snow White!

Mollie shows off her new Winnie the Pooh from Dunna. She also got the cute dress on the table.

We got Mollie her own washing machine. She loves to do laundry!

Mimi and Papa Jim got Mollie a Dora bike/big wheel. She was thrilled!
The camera battery died before I was able to get a picture of Mollie's new chair. I'll have to take her picture tomorrow. Mom and Papa got her a chair that is a little larger than the one Noah got for Christmas. Mollie thought it was way cool and tried to get Noah to sit in her lap while she sat in the chair. It was so cute! She also got a Little Mommy doll that crawls. Caleb and Micah got her this. She said, "My baby!" when she saw it. After we finished with the presents, I caught Mollie singing, "Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to me!"

Oh, Mollie....

A little Mollie update....Mollie is very much into dressing herself and trying to prove that she can do it. "I do it" is a very, very familiar phrase in our house. It typically means that a shirt ends up around her waist or her pants are on but with both legs in the same pant leg. On this day, it meant a onesie over her pajamas. It is important to note that Mollie had an audience. It's amazing what a little encouragement will do. :)

We spent the last week with a sick little Mollie in our house. We aren't quite sure what was wrong with her, but I assure you that I hope no one else gets it. Mollie was so sad. She ran a pretty high fever. We were up for about 3 nights, I lost count. Her fever spiked between 1 and 2 am. It was like clockwork. We started her on amoxicilin on Thursday. Dr. Ledbetter gave it to us in case she didn't get better. A fever of 104 to me meant that we weren't getting better. It eventually seemed to do the trick. By Friday night about bedtime, she seemed better and slept all night long!! Saturday night, we had a family dinner before Caleb left to go back to College Station. Fortunately, Mollie felt up to hanging out with everyone.

The cutie pie after getting her pjs after family dinner.
When I was getting Mollie into her pjs and Mandy was getting Noah into his, we made a very interesting discovery. It was the first time we had seen the two of them together in just diapers. Mollie's skin is super fair and Noah's skin is so olive! I'm very jealous. Check out Mandy's blog to see the difference between the two cousins. By the way, the two kids have started communicating in their own "language." It is so funny to listen to them!

Ellie's simple request

Every morning, Ellie and I have the same conversation. I ask if she wants to wear a headband or a hair bow to school that day. Her response is typically a hairband, as she calls them. However last week, she wanted neither one. Instead, she wanted to wear a clip like Mandy does. Now, I have to apologize to Mandy because I know I didn't do as good of a job on Ellie's hair has she does on her own. That is a given! Mandy always has her hair done so cute. I was having a few issues. Nevertheless, this is how Ellie wore her hair to school. She was thrilled which made me a happy camper too!

Ellie shows off her hair for the day. By the way, Ellie had an extra spirit day last week to show support for the boys basketball team as they played that night in the state championship game. Yes, they brought home the 3A State Championship! Go Eagles!!!

Catching Up....Weekend in Fayette

If you read my blog, you know that I'm typically never this bad at getting it updated! Forgive me. I'm very far behind. Hopefully, I can catch up. We shall see....

Weekend before last, we packed up the trusty Dodge Caravan and the 2 angels and headed to Fayette. It was a belated visit to Brian's Mamaw's house to celebrate her birthday. The girls were anxious to see her. They hadn't seen her since Christmas. We all enjoyed some R&R. It rained all day Saturday which meant that we just hung out in the house. It was fine with me. Mollie and I were able to get in a good nap - always a plus in my book!

During our visit to Whitehouse in January, we discovered that Mollie does an excellent job of sleeping in a sleeping bag! This was our first trip in probably 3 years that we didn't travel with the pack 'n play. The girls were super cute sleeping side-by-side in their Disney Princess sleeping bags.

Mollie and Mamaw just before we hit the road to head home to Little Rock.

Ellie didn't want to take a picture unless she was "posing." It's interesting to note that this blanket on Ellie's head was accidentally left at Mamaw's. We didn't realize it until we received a call once we were about 20 minutes or so down the road. Yes, we turned around and went back to get the precious blanket. :)

The only downside to going to Fayette the weekend we went was that we had to miss the celebration for Papa's (my grandpa) birthday. I hated not being here in LR to celebrate with everyone. Fortunately, Micah, Kelsey and Caleb were here in LR to add to the celebration.

You've come a long way babe!

When school started this year, I quickly found myself watching Ellie face her fears and challenges in ways that I could never have imagined. It has been incredible to watch Ellie grow and mature. Today, Mrs. Laws reminded me of how far Ellie has come. Mrs. Laws had to leave school unexpectedly this morning to go see about her daughter and son-in-law (pray for Jason he has a kidney stone). A substitute was quickly brought in to take over the class. Normally, a sub would send Ellie into a tizzy because there would be unknowns and in the words of Ellie, "they just don't do it right." God is so good. Ellie handled the transition beautifully and was very obedient. She had a great day! Mrs. Laws was able to come back to school for the 2nd half of the morning. She reminded me today that she had told me months ago that we would get to this point. She said, "Look how far Ellie has come." God is good!

Go Papa Jim!

While Brian has been out of town, the angels and I have been having dinner at Mimi and Papa Jim's. Tonight after dinner, the girls decided to use Papa Jim's legs as a ride. The laid on his legs and got him to lift them into the air. You should have heard the giggles! The girls were more than delighted! I was impressed that Dad could lift them that high off the ground. The girls had a wonderful time.

Are clothes really an option?

We've been "fighting" an ongoing battle with Mollie the past several weeks. She is under the belief that clothing is really an option. I will have my smallest angel dressed in a super cute outfit (most days) complete with matching bow and shoes. Then, it never fails. I will go by her class at First Kids Day Out (Mother's Day Out at church) only to find her with her pants off or around her ankles, her hair bow out and her socks and shoes off. Ugh!! This past week or so has been especially exciting. Last Sunday, Mollie wore the cutest black velveteen coverall outfit to church on Sunday. When I picked her up, Mrs. Vivian looked at me and said that she had tried all morning to keep Mollie buttoned. My only response was, "Trust me I understand." You see if Mollie is in overalls, she unbuttons the crotch. It doesn't matter where she is, she'll undo the snaps. It's an ongoing battle. At dinner the other night (same night that I took the pics below) she took her pj's off at the dinner table! I guess this is what I get for all those years of laughing at Caleb when he was little....

Notice Mollie's pants.....

Here's a bitter glimpse....you would think she's wearing a dress!

Bath time is her absolute favorite! Clothes aren't needed or wanted!

I know that of all the battles we have in our house this one is not a major one. It's just funny and very frustrating. Oh, well. Thanks for letting me share. :)

Taste of Spring

Spring is on its way which in our house means the kids are heading outside! Yippee!! The girls spent about 2 hours or so in the backyard this afternoon. Of course, chalk was on the to do list. However, there was not a goal this time of turning the deck pink. After the girls got tired of the chalk, they played with bubbles and had a little girl talk at the picnic table. I think they had a great time. After a much-needed bath, Mollie crashed!

You can't see it; but when Gidget came in from outside, I discovered that the area just above her left front leg was PINK! Poor Gidget! She stayed inside with me for a while.

Brian and his girls!

What a week!

It's finally the end of the week. However, I must admit that today finds me a little nervous about tomorrow. For tomorrow, we go on Day Light Savings Time. Yikes! At our house, the time change typically means that one or both girls choose to change their sleep habits and someone always has trouble staying asleep! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this time change won't be that bad. It's also a struggle to get Miss Ellie to go to bed when it's still light outside! Fortunately though, this battle will only be important for the next 11 weeks (as Mrs. Laws reminded us this week in her weekly update on Ellie's class). Summer is right around the corner! Slightly frightening! This means there is LESS than 11 weeks until Annie arrives! So much to do!

We had a pretty good week here at the Bennett House. Brian had to work two nights this week which is always an adventure. Monday night, he had to wait until midnight to begin his work (Verizon policy). I tried to be the good wife and stay up with him. However, I only made it to 11:15 pm. I was a little tired.

Tuesday, Ellie had casual spring pictures at school. I have to admit that everyone around here was holding his/her breath in anticipation as to whether or not she would actually let them take her pic. She looked so cute. Mama bought her the cutest black and white dress at Target. It has huge flowers with yellow centers. We completed the outfit with black leggin's and a white headband. Yes! According to Mrs. Laws, we finally got a good picture of Ellie! She was very cooperative and let them take her pic. I think she felt really good about herself on Tuesday b/c she prissed around everywhere. :)

Thursday after FKDO and E got out of school, we headed to Mimi's for lunch with Mandy and Noah. The kids had fun playing until it became quite evident that the Bennett angels were in desperate need of a nap! That afternoon, Nannie and PawPaw came by to see the girls updated rooms complete with new furniture. The girls haven't had much time with them lately, so everyone was very excited! They even stayed for dinner. The kids loved having them here. Ellie put on a little show for PawPaw. She said all of her pledges (to the American Flag, Christian Flag and Bible) complete with the songs they sing with each. We even got her to read for us. Yes, she reads! It is so awesome but a little scary! :)

Yesterday was errand day at our house. Mama and I took Mollie to get some new tennis shoes. Turns out, her size 5 Keds were WAY too small. She needs like a 6 1/2. Yeah! I'm mom of the year. Oh, well. After Ellie got out of school, we ran to Kohl's. For some reason, Ellie has begged all week to go to Kohl's. Who knows!??! She is my shopper! We finished our day with dinner at Mimi and Papa Jim's with Mandy, Josh and Noah.

Brian went to Searcy with his dad (aka PawPaw) to watch the AB Eagles defeat LaFayette County in the State Basketball Tournament. Tonight, the guys play Earle.

Not a very exciting week, but it was definitely busy! So, happy Day Light Savings Time from the Bennetts! May you all find a way to make up the hour we lose.

An evening at Mimi's

Last Saturday night, the girls and I headed to my mama's for some Chinese food and hanging out. Josh, Mandy & Noah joined us. We had a great time just hanging out and watching the kids play. Ellie sat with Mandy for a long time reading and laughing. In case you are wondering, Papa Jim, Brian and Micah were all at our church's Hunt Fest.

Mandy and Ellie doing a little reading. Ellie thought it would be great if Mandy tried on the fun glasses.

My baby brother and his baby boy. I love my brother and love my nephew. Isn't he precious!??!?

Once again, Mollie was naked. At least she has a good time wherever she is. I'm pretty sure this photo was compliments of Ellie.

Another weekend at the Bennett's

It seems like it has become the story of our lives recently. We spent the weekend moving furniture! With Baby Annie's arrival getting closer by the day, we are trying to get the older girls settled and have their rooms set up perfectly before May. So this weekend was the great furniture swap - take 2. We moved the beds around in December and now it was time to move dressers and nightstands. We moved Ellie's dresser, mirror and nightstand into Mollie's room; and we bought new furniture for Ellie's room. Fortunately, we found the perfect furniture to compliment her big iron bed. Ellie was thrilled! Praise God! Mollie was thrilled too. I think she feels like a big girl now. Josh came over for a couple of hours and helped get furniture moved into the house and rearranged. The girls love it when he comes over.

Ellie was super excited about her new furniture! She said that it makes her room sleep better. Not quite sure how that works, but we'll take it!
