Color me beautiful

As the girls sought to fill their time today while I finished working this morning, Mollie decided that today was the perfect day to play with markers. She found a box of markers in the drawer of "stuff" I keep for the kids. She grabbed some paper, and while I worked, this is what she did....
She said she wanted to make a hand print. So, she colored her hand.

Her beautiful art work

So we left to go home, it didn't dawn on me that it was super hot outside (I mean, I'm trying to forget that it's 100+ degrees outside) and that Mollie might get sweaty. This would lead to her needing to wipe her forehead....

Hmm....So this is why she wanted a wipe while we were in the car. Her forehead, nose and upper lip were all blue.

Our friend Ramona keeps telling me that before I know it I will look back and long for these days. Right now, I'm not totally convinced of this fact; but deep down, I know that she is right.

To Do Lists

This afternoon, I took the girls with me to Wal-Mart. I knew when I decided to go that it would cost me. The girls talked me into letting them pick out a toy. I had told them that they would get a prize when VBS was over as a reward for being so easy going and obedient while things were wild at home. So, this was my chance. They could pick out their prize, and I would be done and off the hook.

At first, Mollie picked out an Ariel doll for the bathtub and pool. Ellie found two Barbie phones that she wanted. One was more like a Blackberry and the other was just a cell phone. She was immediately distressed that she could only get one. To make a long story short, Mollie decided she wanted the one that Ellie didn't pick. Before we left the store, we buzzed by the watches. Mollie saw a Hannah Montana watch and immediately wanted it. Ellie decided that she wanted to work and earn the phone. It sounded good to me until Mollie decided shew anted the phone and not the watch. So, I told the girls that Ellie had to earn the phone and Mollie had to earn her next toy.

I was working on the blog when Mollie ran in and said something about emptying her drawers and working on her room. I told her she had to clean it up. However, I had no idea that this is what she had done....

Mollie had emptied 2 of her drawers. I couldn't quite figure out what made her do it. I should have known!

Apparently, Ellie decided that it was time to get to work and start earning that phone. Well at times, Ellie is more of a delagater than a workaholic. Ha! So, not to be outdone and to sort of "payback" Mollie for picking the phone, Ellie created a "to do list" for Mollie.

It took me about 2 hours to clean up the mess and to get it all sorted back out. Oh, well. At least it gave us all a good laugh, and Mollie was able to say, "Cleaned out my drawers - check!"

So, we haven't blogged in a while...

Yes, I know. I've done it again. It has been maybe 2 months since I blogged. Yikes! I have to apologize to friends and family who rely on the blog to keep up with the angels. Unfortunately, life has gotten the better of me. So, enough of that and on to what we've been doing....

Annie is on the move!
Watch out world! Annie is into EVERYTHING!! She is hilarious. As of today, June 8th, she is crawling, pulling up and taking 6 or so steps at a time. She is managing the stairs very well and is almost able to go down them by herself without giving me a heart attack. Ha!

So, here's where we were in mid-April....Annie discovered the drawer with the Zip-loc bags. Yikes!!

Did I do that?

The evidence...
Spring at the Bennett's
Brian and I spent time (at different dates and times) this spring working in the yard. I was thrilled to get to see the plants I transplanted come up. Our yard was so beautiful this spring. It was a reminder of God's goodness.
I love our azaleas! I am so thankful to have such mature bushes.

Annie's Ears
Throughout April, Annie continued to battle ear infections. She had one around Noah's birthday that would not go away. She fought it as I finished up tax season and as we moved toward the end of the month. I finally had to take her back around April 15th and have Rocephin shots. That was awful. However, the results were great. She stayed ear infection-free for about a week. :(
Waiting for Rocephin shot #2

After A got another infection on April 26, Dr. Feelbetter said enough was enough. So we went to see Dr. J.J. Miller at Arkansas Otolaryngology. A got her tubes on May 13th. This was her before they took her back. She did great and was back at MDO within an hour.

The Luttrells came home-for a visit!
Right after April 15th, Karen & Robert and the kids came to visit. It was such a great weekend! It always does me good to spend time with friends and just chill. It was fun to watch Annie and James interact. As always, the big girls had a great time. We didn't tell Ellie and Mollie that Haley and Kasey were coming until they pulled up in the Segars' driveway. It was so fun!!

I love the look on their faces! James wasn't too sure what to think about Annie.

Brian and Blake had a great time playing Wii. Too bad Brian didn't win. :)

Blake, Ellie and Kasey - such awesome friends!
The Zoo
The end of April was the reminder that the end of the school year was right around the corner. Ellie's class took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the zoo. It was an amazing day, and the kids had a blast!

It may be hard to see, but one of the big attractions at the zoo was the baby gorilla. The poor mama about had a stroke when she saw all the kids we had with us! She grabbed up that baby and did her best to hide that baby. :)

Class Project: Band Auction
This year, I served as co-room mom for Ellie's class. Our class submitted an entry for the high school band auction. We called our basket, "A Night At Home." The kids got a big kick out of having an entry that was from them. Our basket sold for $75, and our teacher will get 1/2 of that to use in her room.

Mimi's Birthday
While she never likes to have her picture taken or to be the focus, the end of April in our family means it's time for my mama's birthday. We had a big family lunch the Sunday before her birthday. Mandy and I (have I mentioned lately how thankful I am for her and for how she helps me when it comes to taking care of my mama!) cooked the side dishes for lunch, and our family had the traditional fried chicken meal. It gave mama a bit of a break and took the responsibility for lunch of her shoulders. We had a great time!!! It's always fun to watch the kids get so excited for someone else. :)
Mandy put the candles on the cake, and Josh carried it into the dining room for us.

Noah wanted to help Mimi blow out her candles.

Grandparents' Day
Each spring, Ellie's school (ABSS) hosts Grandparents' Day. They present a short program, and the grandparents get to go to the classroom to see what they have been working on all year. The girls were both excited! After the festivities were finished, Mimi and Papa Jim took the girls to breakfast at McDonald's. It's always a very big deal for my girls to get to eat inside McDonald's. They were going to play on the playground, but a daycare showed up. So, Mimi took the girls to rent movies at a the local video store. They were so excited!!!
That afternoon, Nannie and Pawpaw picked up the girls and took them to the Museum of Discovery. The girls were so excited. The entire place is hands on and is made just for kids. They stopped by Baskin Robbins on the way home for a special treat. What a fun day!!

We went to the beach!!
We took a brief family vacation to Sea Grove, Florida, with Brian's parents, grandmother, cousins and their kids. We had the best time! Watch for more details in a separate post.

Annie turned 1!
We celebrated Annie's first birthday on her birthday, May 11th. We had supper at my parents with my family. Everyone was there except Caleb and Stephanie. They were about 3 days out from Caleb's graduation from Texas A&M.

Madelyn's Party & Goodbye to a friend
Ellie's friend Madelyn moved this past week to Birmingham, Alabama. We are so sad. However before she left, she had her birthday party at Pink Bliss (A boutique/party place made for just girls. They get to dress up, have their nails done, get their hair fixed, etc.). What fun!! Ellie was nervous, but she was able to relax and have fun with her friends. We are thankful for Madelyn's friendship and are praying for great friends and church for their family!

Kelsey's 1st Shower
Kelsey's first wedding shower was on May 16. The shower was hosted by two of Kelsey's bridesmaids/high school friends and their moms. It was a beautiful shower! We've talked about this wedding for so long that I have to admit it seemed a little surreal that was time to start celebrating Micah and Kelsey with a shower.
The food table was so pretty! They used Kelsey's colors (chocolate brown and pink) beautifully!

It has been a good but very wild few weeks around here. On top of all of these events, Brian has been traveling quite a bit. He has had a 2 very big installations in Chicago and Indianapolis. He also went to Dallas for a few days for meeting with a vendor. Next week, he heads to Miami for budget meetings and team building. I have to admit that I'm a little jealous.
I've been focused on VBS since we got home from the beach. I work with my friend Lora on decorations for the church. I also am responsible for creating different decorations and printing them on our plotter. I love the work, but it has been very tiring. We began VBS on Monday. We were pleasantly surprised to have 303 kids pre-register and to register about 85 kids the first day. It has been amazing to watch God work! Since VBS is so early,I am looking forward to having the summer with my girls. I won't have to work as much since VBS is this week! (watch for pics) It' going to be a new adventure for us, so stay tuned!!
God is working on us and through us. He is teaching me incredible lessons. So good to be back in the blog world!
