I would like to share with you what I shared at the Rehearsal Dinner on Friday night just to let you know how special Kim and Blake are:
"Ecclesiastes 3: 1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…”
I would like to think that this verse means so much more to Kim and me than we can ever begin to tell you…
In a time in my life where I felt completely lost and all of my friends were getting married, I asked God to send me a best friend who was where I was in life…. In July of 2009, Kim moved about 5 doors down from me! I had met her a few times before through Emily, but never really had the chance to get to know her. When she became my neighbor, we immediately hit it off! We started going to SS together, laying out at the pool every Saturday morning, weekly dinner nights, etc. It got to the point to when people would see us separately, they would always ask- where is your side-kick?!
October rolled around and we had no idea, but God had big plans for the both of us! We had been attending SS at our church and I was on the lookout for Kim a man! If you know me, you know I love being a match-maker! One Sunday this tall, handsome man came in SS and we ended up sitting beside each other. It was one of those weeks that we had praise and worship music and he could actually sing, and it wasn’t off-key! I immediately thought of Kim! When I told her about him, she said she had been checking him out too, but she thought he had a g/f… well, being the forward person that I am I started investigating and figured out he was SINGLE! Therefore, I decided that Kim and I should host a “supper club” at my apartment and pick a few people from SS to come over! Of course Blake was #1 on the list! He came, we ate, they talked, that was about it… then the next week Blake e-mailed me and asked for Kim’s phone number. I couldn’t reply fast enough and immediately responded “what are your intentions? Break her heart and I’ll break your face” … and I wasn’t kidding!
To me, Kim is the definition of what a real friend should be….she is the kind of friend that is always there, no matter what. Only a best friend will sit in the bedroom floor and cry with you, even when you can’t remember the reason, stay late on a school night in B’ham to eat dinner with a guy you barely know, but you think you might like, share clothes, laugh with you, pray with you, always know that she is praying for you, lets you use her internet at 11:00 at night to check out a silly picture on FB, drives 3.5 hours to see you try on wedding gowns for 1 hour, gets excited and scared all at the same time when you tell her you might be moving again.
And when I see Kim and Blake together, I know that she has her new best friend!
As you can see, Blake didn’t break her heart and thankfully I didn’t have to break his face! Watching Kim and Blake’s relationship from the very beginning has been such a blessing for me! They were made for each other! I have never seen anyone who loves each other more than the 2 of you! Your love for the Lord amazes me and I strive to have that love!
I pray God’s many blessings on your marriage and your family together! And Blake, just know that if you or Brant ever plan to move us more than 3 hours away from each other, we will need 1 weekend every month to be set aside for a visit!"
