Obviously not "SUPER MOM"

I have to say that my original thought that keeping up the blog would be such a piece of cake was way overstated. I am entirely envious of the women who seem to be able to blog daily/weekly or even monthly for that matter and manage small children, do crafty things, keep their homes neat and tidy and cook delicious meals. Obviously -- I missed the "EXTRAORDINARY POWERS" line on my way down to earth. What a slacker I am. However, I do have some catching up to do so before my list grows a hundred times longer of things to post -- please enjoy the extremely lengthy posting.

EASTER:
For easter the boys enjoyed their outdoor hunt for eggs. They all look so cute. Feel like such a slacker that it took so long to get these up.

CRAFT TIME: I've decided to set aside one day a week where I can focus on a single craft to accomplish or work on. The boys know it's mommy's time and whomever wants to come craft with us can. It's nice because at least one day a week I feel as if I can actually get something finished...and it's my estrogen outlet! Craig wonders why all of the sudden I've gone all domestic...sewing, crafting and now a new hobby -- Cakes!

BOYS UPDATE:
The boys are growing up way too fast for me. Corban is now crawling and absolutely into everything. I have to keep a super sharp eye on things now. Caleb is growing super fast as well. He loves to be mister helpful and keep us all in line. Right now he is super absorbed in swimming and watching out for tornadoes as we had to retreat to the basement for our first sirens since we've lived here. Kind of scary. Caleb calls them toe-may-does. They are scary and we have to hurry to the basement is what he'll tell you.

MOM / DAD UPDATE:
Things have been busy for Craig and I too...both have new callings that are time intensive and seem to find ways of filling up our calendar within minutes. Craig is the Elder's Quorum President and I serve in YW as the Personal Progress Advisor and Camp Specialist.

Craig is now home for the summer...but his HONEY DO list is quite long. I am very excited about the furniture he is building for our bedroom. He just started, but it looks awesome and I can't wait to get it up to my room. It will be fantastic.

I, of course, am still learning how to say "NO" to people so that I can enjoy my family. Not very good at it yet, but I am trying. I love being home with the boys. It is definitely a trial of patience some days, but it's the best blessing ever. I definitely miss family and friends. I look forward to every opportunity we get to spend with them.

Happy Happy Birthday, Husband Dear...

So for a few months I have been planning this birthday cake for Craig. With the help of a good friend that dream finally became a reality. She taught me so much and helped me make my very first cake!!! We surprised Craig at work and had his students join us! It was great!

While I had to do a lot of lying to sneak this surprise... it was fun. And even though Caleb spoiled the surprise of the cake itself -- telling daddy over and over again -- "Mommy made your yellow car!" It was still a great shock to see it in person. Craig liked it - even though he won't admit it.

Enjoy the pics!

To Appease the Gods

So since the birth of Corban, I have been absolutely terrible at keeping up on the blog. Once you get behind it's even harder to stay motivated to catch up. But here are are few pics to catch up on at least Christmas and our most recent Blizzard.

And for additional details to catch up on... Craig is now the EQ president. I was released from Activities Chair to be called as the new Camp Leader. Caleb is in the throws of potty training and doing pretty well. (Although .. I think there should be a service you can hire out for this sort of thing:) Corban is growing like a weed and was 14lb 8oz at his 4 month check up and 25 inches tall. That's about 50% --which is much bigger than Caleb ever was. Corban's head however was 17inches around which is HUGE!!! (and that's with a flat head, heaven forbid it was rounded out)

Craig is still enjoying teaching. He's been able to start teaching more of his specialty classes. I have been able to do a little more web work and have started the CRAFT COLOSSEUM. I have really taken to doing home-made gifts. Which is what I did for Christmas. The families seemed to like them. I am currently working on (hold your hats everyone) Christmas for 2011 right now. It's going to be homemade again. I've even joined a Quilter's Guild to help learn new skills. Lots of fun. I'm really enjoying the time I have to play with my boys and to craft away at tons of different things.

I'll try to keep up better now... enjoy the pics.

New Addition!!

Corban has been a sweet addition to our family. He loves to sleep! He has also found a fun new past time of peeing all over anyone - the minute the diaper comes off anything is fair game!!! An experience we are not quite used to. Needless to say we are going through far more diapers than we did with Caleb at first. We are still working on helping reduce his jaundice ... but other than that he is a very cute and healthy baby boy.

Mom is still trying to recover - mostly just very tired. Caleb has been an absolute angel. Anytime Corban cries Caleb comes over and tells him "It's okay Corbin!!!!" and repeats it over and over. Pats his head and tries to pick him up. He also tries to give him a bink! It's so very cute.

Even though he is just a week old...we thought everyone might enjoy a few more pictures of Corban -- and of Caleb!

Random Thoughts

I know I am slow to update things as of late.... my brain seems to be malfunctioning. However, here are a few pics of some of our latest adventures.

Zoo Escapades
--Caleb loves to go to the zoo to see all the animals. For member night he was able to get up close and personal with several animals. A blue tongued skink, a possom, and a turtle. He also loves to pet the goats and pigs. We also got a chance to feed the birds...Caleb was a little afraid of them, but it was way neat to do!

Curtis Orchards
-- We took a trip out to Champaign to an orchard and bought a bushel of apples. While there they have a little area for kids as well. Caleb thought feeding the goats was very cool...however he didn't want them to lick his hands so he would throw the food at them. We took all the apples and turned them into to apple pies and apple crisps we put in our freezer.

Lake Evergreen
--This past week has been hard as my grandpa gardner passed away. Being far away and unable to go, my wonderful husband decided to take us out for a little drive to just get away from everything. So we went to a little fishing lake that is only about 20 minutes away. It was peaceful and very beautiful. Caleb loved looking for fish in the water! We ate a nice little dinner and walked around. It was wonderful. Thank you honey!

Scattered Moments

Things have been uneventful and busy all at the same time! We are enjoying summer and having daddy home. Just before summer started we did swim lessons for Caleb. The university where daddy works does them for free. The water was so incredibly cold. They keep it cooler for the swim team. Thank goodness daddy is such a good sport. There was no way I was going to get in. Caleb did okay for the first few weeks, then the water was just way too cold for him. We finally gave up on the rest of the summer lessons. We have taken him to the public pools a half a dozen times at least and he is such a fish. Loves to play and go down the water slides!

We thought it would be fun to try out the local things to do since we can't do a lot of traveling. There was a church carnival with rides and a petting zoo. We thought we'd go and see how caleb enjoyed it. Unfortunately all the rides were geared for older kids. The ones that he could go on, he'd have to do alone and he just isn't quite ready for that. We did a tea cup ride first. That went ok. Then I took him on the tilt a whirl. Poor kid was screaming all done half way through. It went a little to fast for him. Then daddy scared him on the ferris wheel. The only ride he enjoyed was the merry go round. Poor kid. Guess we just have to wait a little while longer till he's older. Either that or he's just too much like his daddy!

All of our hard work and effort of building our garden is starting to pay off. Our tomato and broccoli plants are huge. We've never seen such great growth. It's exciting. We got our first fruits of fresh broccoli last night! Oh was it delicious. So much better than what we bought at the farmer's market! We have a fresh zucchini too! So exciting. Can't wait for the rest of the produce!

This is just a cute picture of my boys lounging in the grass! I love moments like this!

As part of our summer we've been doing some redecorating I guess! I have kept daddy out in the garage building furniture and I've been using my cricut to decorate with vinyl in the basement. We put up ABC's, numbers and shapes! The yellow color is a little faint, but it's fun. Caleb likes pointing out the letters and numbers. Not sure I'm in love with the way the shapes are on the wall...I may have to fix those. We also finally got my awesome Mexican art framed and hung after like 5 years. And my sister made this awesome name picture for me for Christmas. (HUGE as it may be) It looks great in our family room in the basement. She's so talented!!

Craig built the craft desk first! It is wonderful. Plenty of room for me to work on everything. Next he built the computer desk. Still finishing up building the file cabinet drawers for the bottom and the drawer faces, but it is really nice. The desk alone replaced three pieces of cheaper furniture. It is great.

That's it for now!
