Children - A Necessary Evil
So... after almost 30 friggin years, I've finally come to accept that children may not be such a bad thing after all. Friends all around have started popping babies. And every guy I've met so far seem intent on populating the world with their seed. How else should I respond?
I've always argued against kids but shall we look at the pros of having children?
1) You learn to be a better person - patience and character development. You learn how to nurture and teach another human being good values. Perhaps your children will fulfill your unfulfilled dreams.
2) Your relationship with your partner can progress to the next level and you will still have something you both share when you are old and wrinkly.
3) Your children are the legacy you leave behind. They are the part of you that will remain in the world after you die. Your contribution to the world.
4) Your life will not be so boring or lonely as you will have company even if your partners passes on before you. Also there will be someone to care and provide for you.
5) You can dress them up in funky clothes.
6) You can make funny faces when you are bored and watch their confused expression.
Okay, I've run out of ideas...
Stuck in Sheraton Istanbul
2 days in Istanbul with nothing to do. Arrived in Istanbul this morning and was going to go to Taksim Square on the 1pm shuttle when the boss called to inform me that there was a bombing in Istanbul and that we are advised not to go to town. I guess that means - no turkish bath for me...
At least the hotel is nice and there's free breakfast (although I am getting quite sick of the same stuff) and free internet access. We've got 50% off room service too. Perhaps tomorrow. My room overlooks the sea and hotel pool. Was planning to take a dip in the pool but my skin is getting so dry that I'm itching and scratching all over. Must remember to bring more moisturizer on my next trip.
There's a crappy mall next to he hotel and I dropped by earlier to pick up some fruits, beer and chips. Plenty of food options but I wasn't hungry coz I just had a ginormous breakfast. Forgot to get moisturizer :o/
Just consumed a big bag of chips and a bottle of their local beer (Gusta) for dinner and am thinking I should probably visit the gym and run it off... later...
Been swimming the last two days (in Dubai) after sunset (temperature is about 37 degrees at the coolest time of the day) and realized how nice it is to be immersed in water in such hot weather. Swimming as a cardio option is pretty relaxing too - but not necessarily a walk in the park.
The others are meeting by the pool at 9pm for jazz and drinks. Chillout basically. Am still undecided whether to join them but I'm leaning towards a pass. Not in the mood to entertain although I would like to listen to some jazz. I can probably just open my window to enjoy the music since I'm staying at L2. Also, most of the others are pretty hardcore drinkers and I don't fancy having to drink so much.
Have been listening to sermon cds, doing spanish revision, watching whatever's on tv and reading the last couple of days. That's what I do these days when i don't go out. Am adding korean revision to my list. Wanted to watch some dramas online but the connection is too slow...
I'm just ranting in case you still can't tell. Enough for now...
