Today is Brad's birthday. He is officially old. Okay, not really, he's only 31. Speaking of ages and being old, Sarah said to me the other day, "I know that Ashley is old because you say that you are old and I know that Ashley is older than you!" How's that for childhood logic? I guess we should quit saying we're old. Another 40 years from now we'll look back and ask ourselves, "What were we thinking? We were spring chickens!" At least we can hope for that!
Brad is currently outside working on tearing down some more sections of our fence. He was going to install a light in our bedroom since we haven't had an actual fixture since we moved in a year ago. We went looking at Fred Meyer and then Home Depot. We found one that we like okay, brought it home, unpacked it, and ... discovered that it has a bunch of dents in it! Aaaaarrgh! Not that Home Depot is forever away, 15 minutes, but he was definitely not in the mood to hop right back in the car and make another trip. So he's out working on his default project, the fence. He's always happy at the end of the day when he's had the chance to work on a project or two.
After Sarah gets home and Kyle wakes up we'll give him his gifts. This year he's getting a Sawzall, an angle finder, and a space heater. All to help him along on his projects. He's also getting a date with me for tomorrow. I'm taking him to the Museum of Flight with Brent and Ashley (Brent's b'day is on Sunday). Ash and I have been planning this for a few weeks now. We think we have fooled the boys, at least we hope so. Brad has only been once before and Brent's never been. We thought this might be something that they would really enjoy. Then we are taking them out to dinner at P.F. Chang's. The best chinese restaurant ever! Tonight though, we are having chicken curry. Another tradition. Brad's had that for his b'day dinner for several years now.
On a sad note, my sis-in-law Jill is going to be having surgery in a few days. The doctors think she may have a tumor on her colon, although we are all hoping that it is only a perforation or some type of benign growth. Sue is going to fly to Colorado to help take care of them during her hospital stay and recovery at home. We are all praying for the best.
