I thought this was blog worthy. Sorry no pictures yet (my last few posts haven't had pictures - buy hey, at least I'm posting). Brad doesn't have the camera, we do. Anyway, most the family have read this because I sent it out in an email today, but thought I'd get it in here too for journaling purposes.
Okay, so to preface... he is fine. (Emphasis added for the Brown/Elg worriers. We love you!) And in case I've forgotten to tell you he's in San Diego - not here - I forget to tell people sometimes because he goes so frequently.
Brad was hiking yesterday evening and fell near the end of his hike. Unfortunately it was on a fairly rocky trail. So he was pretty scraped up and bruised and thinking he broke his left index finger. Off to the emergency room he went (he drove himself). No break. They cleaned him up the best they could and bandaged him. He says his hands look like a boxer's, all wrapped up and stuff. Anyway, they told him he should take a couple of days off from work.
But this is Brad we're talking about... hey, his brain still works... so he went to work this morning. He'd already talked to his supervisor last night, but they were still surprised to see him there and more surprised to see what he looked like (I wish he had the camera with him!). Anyway, he was basically told that with doctor's orders to not work, he couldn't come in for a few days for liability reasons (and because he really did need to rest and recoup a bit!). So he has the rest of the weekend off. He has to go see the nurses tomorrow to have everything redressed and checked for infection. On Monday he has to go to the Navy doctor people to be assessed as to whether he can be functional there or not. So he may be coming home next week if his assessment goes poorly. We're both not sure which outcome we're hoping for. It would be great to have him home. But we were also looking forward to the bit of extra money that comes with travel duty. By Monday, Brad may have a stronger opinion about which he'd prefer though as well.
He is resting, has food, cable TV, baggies and scrunchies to cover his hands for when he bathes, and has PROMISED that if he goes walking somewhere for fresh air that he'll do it somewhere flat and with a lot of people around. He's currently only taking ibuprofen (and says that's all he needs right now anyway) for the pain. They gave him some stronger stuff, but neither of us can remember if it's the same stuff that made him a bit loopy and whacked out after his hernia surgery so he's hoping he won't need to take it.
So that is our news. I had a great visit with my mom and nephew. They were here for a week and just left yesterday. Today I was going to get more done cleaning wise than I have, but I've been a bit distracted. Besides, the kids don't care, so it's not that big of a deal, right? Brad, I hope you don't mind me telling everyone and I hope all who read this are doing okay and avoiding your own accidents!!

Keeping busy
So my sis-in-law was asking how we've been since she hasn't heard from me in a while, and after typing a huge long email to her, I realized I could post it to my blog... so here it is...
We've been really busy which I both love and hate at the same time. Brad is leaving tomorrow morning to spend the next month in San Diego. Mom and Kaven are going to come out on Tuesday and spend the week with us.
We've moved the girls downstairs to the big room and remade their little room upstairs into the office. It's repainted and all done, but we still need to do their room. We told them they could each do their half for their "dream" rooms. Sarah's is brown and blue/teal/lime circles and Chloe wants zebra stripes with hot pink bedding and walls. Boy will it look a little crazy down there! I'll have to send some pictures when it's done.
We've been working hard outside as well - but nature is fast outrunning us. I've got my 2 little garden plots. About half of what I planted is doing well. The other half, not so much. It didn't help that we had such a cool cloudy spring. I think everything was a bit starved for sunshine. Brad is halfway through the new retaining wall in the backyard, so that will remain unfinished for another month. We did get our new shed built and so we were able to get all the yard things out of the garage. We added some storage shelves in the garage along with a big freezer. Anyways, I've also been busy with Primary (church) stuff.
The girls are enjoying summer. Sarah is enjoying time with her friend Lexi, and has been a big help with Aaron. Chloe is outside as much as she possibly can be. Kyle is potty trained and wearing underpants now. Aaron just learned to sit up last week and is doing great with that. He still can't roll over, but he hates being on his tummy so maybe that is why? He gets REALLY excited to see the cat though. I think if anything persuades him to roll, it will be because he's trying to watch the cat walk around.
It seems like every day is go, go, go and then at the end of the day I still feel like there were a million things I couldn't get done! But I'm not one to give up much on my sleep. The blog has definitely taken a backseat. Maybe someday I'll be able to have 4 kids, a busy life, take pictures, and then blog about it all (like Brad's sister does - I've had to take a hiatus from reading her blog because it makes me jealous) but for now I'm just busy and trying to enjoy the kids as much as I can. We had a great 4th of July weekend with friends and some time with just us. It will be nice to send Brad off knowing that we got to spend some good time together before he's gone.
