Kyle is 7

It is hard to believe, but Kyle turned 7!

He had a fun birthday.  He took treats to school earlier in the week because there were 3 birthdays in his class that week.  He didn't seem to mind stretching out his festivities for more than a day.
He got a lot of fun gifts.  Most of them had to do with Legos.  This was a good thing.

Kyle's reacation to this gift cracked me up.  We ordered some books for Kyle out of his school book order.  They hadn't come yet, so I wrapped up the book order form.  Kyle was so confused and thought he'd been gipped out of a gift.  We all had a good laugh and then I explained that he was getting the books he'd circled in the order.

Ashley made him a cape.  Now he is Super Kyle!

He was thrilled to get this clone trooper costume that used to belong to his cousin Braden.  It's hard to see in the picture, but he's giving it a thumbs up.

Kyle requested a Lego Ninjago cake for his birthday.  Pinterest provided some great inspiration as usual.  I was grateful that Kyle chose the simplest of them all.  This cake was definitely within my skill level!

About to make his wish...

Happy Birthday, Kyle!  We love you!  (And your cheeser grins!)

Tied and Dyed

Last month my friend Amy decided her kids needed some new tie-dyed clothes.  Being the awesome person that she is, she decided to include as many as possible of her friends in this crafty pursuit.  I think around 30 of us tied and dyed with her over several weeks time.  Port Orchard will be seeing it's most colorful summer ever!

I love, love, love how Kyle's rainbow shirt turned out.  I let the kids pick their colors and was so excited that he picked rainbow.

I chose pink and purple for Emma.  She's pretty happy with it, can you tell?

Sarah chose blue, green and purple.  This color combination looks great.

Aaron chose red, white, and blue.  His shirt has more white than the others because I was trying really hard not to let the colors bleed into each other.  We ended up with very little of the muddy purple, so I'm happy with the results.

I wasn't sure about Chloe's color picks, but her shirt turned out fabulous!  (Work it, Chloe!)  Sarah also ended up with a shirt in these colors because all of the YW made one for camp this summer.

Cute and colorful!  Thanks Amy!!

Kyle is Terrific!

Kyle won a Terrific Kid award from the Kiwanis Club this year.  Terrific stands for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.  He definitely is all of those things!  We are so proud of him!  He loves school and all of the things he learns.  Science and PE are his favorite subjects.  He enjoys telling us what games they've played in PE and really looks forward to those days.  He also has done a great job in science this year and can tell us lots of facts about insects, rocks, and the other things they studied this year.  Kyle was very excited and proud to win this award.

Our camera isn't super awesome, so this is the best picture we got.  Kyle is in his EPO sweatshirt.  Behind him in the striped shirt is is super cute teacher, Mrs. Horne.  She has really encouraged him to learn and try his best.  Kyle has really enjoyed being in her class this year.

The other teachers are Mrs. Possanza (in the middle) and Mrs. White (on the left).  Sarah had Mrs. Possanza when she was in 2nd grade and just loved her.  Mrs. P is a very enthusiastic teacher and is always so friendly towards our whole family when we visit the school.  Mrs. White is one of our most favorite people ever.  Anyone who knows her feels that way.  She has an almost magical way with children, probably because she loves them all so much.  We also know her from church, so sometimes it is tricky for the little kids to remember to call her Misses or Sister, depending on the situation.  Mrs. White taught Chloe when she was a first grader.  Any kid would lucky to have one of these ladies as their teacher.  Our family has been blessed to work with all three!

I Had a Birthday...

... shout, "Hooray!"  Brad and the kids took good care of me for my birthday this year.  I got artwork and cards from everyone.

A couple of new Willow Tree figurines.  Brent and Ash gave me one also.  I've wanted this one with the birds on her arms for a while now.

I got stuff to help me around the yard.  Hoses, watering nozzles, and an awesome gardening book.

And of course, a super delicious birthday treat!

Here's a close up of that chocolatey, cheesecakey goodness.  Have you gotten one from Costco yet?  You should!

Ash also took me out to lunch and Mary babysat so that I could go without kids in tow. I don't have any pictures of them, but here's one of Brent. He's the life of the party, that guy! ;)
