13 Months Old

Yesterday was Samuel's 13 month birthday. He continues to change so much every month. Here are some of his new tricks this month...

- He takes a few steps (one or two at the most) when he doesn't realize you have let go of him. He's pretty stable at walking holding on to one hand, but doesn't have the confidence or desire to go it alone. He's getting closer though.
- He gives high fives and shakes your hand.
- He's starting to blow kisses, but it takes quite a bit of prompting still.
- His 9th tooth came in last week.
- He blows on his food when it's hot.
- Still jabbering, but no definite words. He makes lots of sounds, but I can't tell for sure if he connects them with their meaning. He's experimenting a lot though!
- He does "so big" and lifts his arms up in the air which makes for some cute pictures :). This might have been from last month... I can't remember.

Eating with a Spoon... kind of

Samuel has begun to try to use a spoon when eating. He hasn't quite figured it out yet, but he's trying really hard!!

My favorite part is when he tries to use the spoon as a straw at the end of the video.

P.S. Please ignore the TV in the background... it's a little loud.

Forget the spoon... hands are easier!!

Meeting up with Family - Part 2

Here are some pictures from our trip to Indianapolis last week. We took Samuel to the Children's museum, which was GREAT!! I would go every day if we lived there :).

Playing in the "under 2" area!!!!
A fun picture with Great Grandan...

This is a tree at my grandparents house that we used to always climb. I fell out of this tree one time and chased my sister around showing her the blood because it grossed her out (that would be the doctor sister :)).
The water trough at the children's museum. They had these great aprons so the kids clothes didn't get wet. I wish I had one of these aprons for our sand/water table at home!!
No, Sam's not the center of attention...
Samuel's great aunt and uncle and cousins on the Pfister side of the family...

Meeting up with Family - Part 1

Over the past week and a half, Samuel has met/visited with a lot of family... 5 Great Grandparents, 7 Great Aunts/Uncles, 7 Second Cousins, 3 Aunts (we missed you Lauren), and all 4 Grandparents... plus Aunt Holly (the dog)!

We took a trip to Florida for Great Grandpa Copella's funeral (as referenced in a previous post). While we were there we got to meet up with a lot of the Lutz side of the family (as represented in the pictures below). Then we (Sam and I) headed up to Indianapolis, with a quick stop in Nashville on the way, to visit with the Pfister side of the family (pictures coming soon). It was a busy couple of weeks and I'm glad to be home, but it was so good to see a lot of our family again!!

Samuel with Great Grandma Copella...
Samuel with Bud's cousins (I guess they would be Samuel's second cousins. I'm not sure how all that works)...

Samuel with Great Grandma and Grandpa Lutz... This was the first time he got to meet them.

A cute picture with Great Grandma's walker. He loved pushing this around :).

A New Wagon

We got Samuel a new wagon for his birthday. I wanted the same one that we (Bud and I) had as a kid, so that's what we got. Samuel loves it! He just sits there and watches the world go by, looking like the little prince that he is :).

Great Grandpa Copella

Bud's grandpa passed away Monday morning. He was a very kind, active, fun, Christian man (as you can see in the picture above). The above picture was taken in October when he first met Samuel. He loved to make Samuel laugh and would kiss his picture every night before he went to bed. He will be missed! We are comforted in knowing that he is free from pain and suffering and will be with us in glory. We appreciate your prayers... especially for Bud's grandma (Emma) who will be settling into a new routine without her spouse of almost 63 years.

Samuel's Birthday Party

The sand and water table was a BIG hit! We've already spent a lot of time out there and it was great entertainment at the birthday party. We had planned on swimming, but a big storm rolled in that morning.
Now that he's one he wants to play with the big kids :).
And, of course, the cake! He wasn't a huge fan... again. He'd been sick all week and really didn't have much of an appetite. So, he swirled around some icing and then just started flinging icing on the floor, wall, and anything/anyone else that got in his way. I really don't think he ate more than a couple of bites of it. I guess it's a good thing that he doesn't have a sweet tooth! Bring on the veggies!!
