Snowed In!

We had our first significant snow fall this week. Samuel wanted to go out in it immediately. It took us forever to get him dressed and it was dark by the time we got out there. So, we didn't stay out too long. He was not thrilled about going back in, but I bribed him by offering him hot chocolate. :)

All bundled up...
For some reason, he wanted to lay down in the snow...
His first hot chocolate...
He liked it... :)

Christmas #2

Santa Clause came...

Buzz had to join us in opening presents...

Emma pretty much slept through the whole thing...
His stocking is as big as he is :)...

Samuel enjoyed celebrating Christmas with the Lutz grandparents and as a family of FOUR! Merry Christmas to everyone!

Christmas Eve

Decorating cookies for Santa... or, enjoying some icing! :)
Taking a break for some Egg Nog...
Dressed up for the Christmas Eve service... Emma did great during her first time at church!
He's still not too sure about holding his sister...

Grandma and Grandpa Lutz were able to celebrate Christmas with us this year. Samuel's not going to know what to do with a quiet house this week! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming, celebrating with us, and helping us out! Again, we are so spoiled having family that is able and willing to come help us adjust to new baby. Grandma and Grandpa let us sleep in, helped in the kitchen, cleaned, and did our laundry. Thanks so much!
Opening his fire truck ornament...
He immediately had to run and get his fire hat...
Emma and Samuel in their Christmas PJ's (well, Samuel got a robe this year, so I guess that's not technically pjs)...

Christmas #1

We celebrated Christmas with my parents last weekend. It was so good to have them here again. Thanks Mom and Dad for making the trek again!

Three generations of Jean's... Emma's middle name, Jean, has been passed down for four generations!
Mom and Dad got Samuel a bunch of fun costumes for imaginative play. My favorite...
Samuel's favorite was the fireman hat which was worn with every costume he tried on... :)
Samuel also got to meet Santa at a local restaurant (and Mama and Papa didn't have to wait in the ridiculously long line at the mall :)). He really was oblivious to the whole Santa thing this year... he thinks Christmas is all about "Christmas trees," "lights on,
and "star on top."
Here's how we spent much of the weekend, thus the lack of pictures... Bud playing golf on the iPad, Mom and Dad watching Emma sleep and Samuel entertain (when they weren't cooking, cleaning, and serving us), and me resting.
We slept in ('till 10AM one day!!), went out to eat a few times and a light shopping trip, and Bud and I went on a date (car shopping, but still it was nice to be just the two of us since this process is pretty impossible with two kids). Mom and dad took care of everything else... including cleaning the whole house, doing laundry, and watching Samuel while we slept in. We really appreciate their help the last few weeks while adjusting to life with a new baby! Thanks Mom and Dad!

First Bath

Emma is so easy going! She really enjoyed her first bath. She just kind of hung out...
And, then loved snuggling with Papa...

Reject Pictures

I always enjoy posting the pictures that didn't quite make the cut. There really weren't that many this time though!

He had been refusing to hold her, so we tried laying them next to each other while sleeping. Good thing he didn't wake up! :)
First reaction to her being in his arms...
I love this one!

Photo Session

I finally was able to take some pictures of Samuel and Emma together... with no tears from either of them! He wasn't so thrilled about holding his little sister at first. But, we powered through. We started by taking pictures of Samuel alone...
He posed perfectly, then asked to see the pictures...
Then, some pictures of Emma alone...
She pretty much slept through the many position changes...
Then, we moved to him sitting behind her...
Pointing to body parts...
A kiss...
And, finally, in his arms... Ahhh, success!

He is getting a lot more comfortable with Emma sticking around. He loves to help with diaper changes, read the letters on her shirts, or bring mommy pacifiers/blankets/etc. She sleeps through all of his ruckus and admires him lovingly when he gets close enough for her to see him.

Siblings

I've heard a lot of people say Samuel and Emma look a lot a like. What do you think?

More Pictures!!

We are home and Emma is doing wonderfully! She's a very easy going baby, so far. She sleeps a lot and only finds the need to be fussy between 12 and 3AM... of course. :) Although last night, she slept from 12 to 5! She has already gained all her weight and some back over the past four days.

I'm doing pretty well too. Recovery with the second is a lot more difficult. My mom has been a great help this week, cooking, cleaning, and taking turns with the kiddos. Samuel has had a difficult time with Emma's arrival and has required a lot of attention. He'll come around though.

Now for the photos...
My favorite so far. Possibly part of her birth announcement...
Heading home...
Right before he pushed her off his lap...
Gigi and Dodo were able to be here for her arrival and help out with Sam...
Samuel enjoyed my hospital food and the buttons on my bed...
This is what Sam thought about taking a picture with Emma... Even candy didn't make it better!
