1-2-3...FREEZE!

This was the perfect end to Leap Day for me. I saw this on a friend's blog. Loved it. Had to share it. Thanks Lindsey.

Chives, Roses, Keys and Capris....

...and Happy Leap Day to you too!

So far, I:

1. received roses from the teachers at school after the monthly luncheon involving the chives. (It was the ever-popular POTATO Bar) I guess I am appreciated after all.

2. came home from that and changed into capris and a short-sleeved shirt. Welcome to YOU Spring...we thought you'd never come.

3. managed to lose my keys while I was cleaning up. (Or Kyle did....He was trying diligently to help.) Doug came to rescue me, the 2 rag-muffin children, and the many coolers and leftover cake.

What else interesting is going to happen on this once-in-four-years day?
Can't wait to find out.

Grand Central

So, we're feeling better around here, thankfully.

Well enough, in fact that this past Sunday we hosted a "Farewell Open House" for some friends who are moving. I don't know when there have ever been that many people in my house at the same time. If the Fire Marshall had come by, we probably would have been fined. I would guess there were easily over 100 people here.

It was a great time sharing food and good company with so many from our ward and stake.

We should do it again sometime (when it's not Raining and/or Dark) and we can let the kids go outside!

a picture's worth...

a picture (of medicinal disarray) is worth...
1000 words
(or tissues, tears, requests for vallium, etc.)
# in household = 7

# with infirmities = 7

we like to be 100% around here.

clearly.

The season(s) roll on...

As in...
basketball and flu.

The game today had to roll on, even without the coach (Doug - in bed sick-like) and two of the players (Tate and Bret) while they go on with the incessant

cough, cough, sniffle sniffle....

(which brings out the best (?!?!) of my patience and the ensuing, "USE a tissue!" "Don't wipe that on there!" "Cover your mouth!" and so on...)

I took the girls (who are well for the time being) outside
for a little basking in the beautiful weather.

I had plans on stopping at Walgreens for DayQuil, since we're out, but didn't want to make an extra stop after Costco...so, while there I had no problem justifying the jumbo-tron package. Let's hope we don't need to use it all.

mary...i want summer in february too....! no fair.

Running in Organic Country

I ran the 5K as part of the Sedona Marathon on Saturday.

As you can see, the scenery was breathtaking. I wish I'd taken my camera along for the run to document just what I got to look at while I trudged through. My right knee is really giving me grief lately...

Hence - I'm not terribly proud of my time...AND I didn't prepare myself adeuqately for the rolling hills of Sedona.
But it was fun, and Denise agreed to come with me, so it was even better.
As an aside, we did have access to all kinds of organic fruit and vegan snacks.
Gotta' love Sedona.

mincing words...

You may remember Tate's concise, yet meaningful choice of words in THIS post.
Last week, he brought me the following letter, sealed in an envelope, addressed to "Scholastic Books."

Dear Scholastic,
Me and my brother have been working on a book for almost half a year now. My brother Bret and I were wondering if you could publish our book. Are book is called Guardians of Ka. We are still working on it though.

Sincerly,
Tate & Bret

He has such a way with...getting to the point.
