Goodbye Wyoming Dirt . . .

While there are things I miss about Pinedale, the dirt is not one of them! We lived a few miles down a dirt road (that was sometimes very rough to drive on!) and the cars were always filthy. I don't know how much $ I spent on car washes because it was so constantly being done (and nobody could ever tell) but it probably should have had it's own line item in the budget ledger! This was our first Saturday morning in Fruita--Burke couldn't wait to blast the tar and dirt off of his truck and then he wanted me to help him clean mine-- so focus on the mud you can see under the vehicles on the driveway pavement--it is all good old Wyoming dirt washed away . . .The pics don't really do it justice there was SO much dirt!

Mr. Independent

Warning: This is not to be construed as cool fashion tips!

I have said many times to myself that if we are not about to have family pictures and it is not church this child can wear what he wants how he wants. I do have to say I am getting some strange looks about what my little Preston decides to wear these days!

Rebekah

Does anyone else find it hard to believe Rebekah is 5 1/2 months old?! I cannot believe how fast it has gone for me this time. She is so fun. A few milestones she is hitting: Experimenting with pitch and very noisy "telling stories" whenever she is awake. Her two bottom teeth I can feel (though I cannot see them yet!) She is also perfecting the roll and scoot so she gets around the room pretty well. I have seen her try to go up on hands and knees a few times. She really wants to move :) She has also been very giggly lately. There is nothing as wonderful and sweet as a baby laugh. Here she is with her two new loves: The Johnny Jump up (Preston calls this a "Johnny Bouncer!") and the pacifier . . .

I know all the baby books say wean the baby from the pacifier at 6 months-- Rebekah decided she liked it at 5 months! What do you do?!

The Zoo

While we were in Idaho awaiting the Andrus Family Reunion, we needed something to do-- so we went to good old Tauphus Park in Idaho Falls. My Mom kept Rebekah so Preston could have a little one on one time with me. It had been a long time since I had done anything with just him and it was good for both of us. I took Preston, Brittney had little Anilyn, and Brittany and cute Whitney. We really had a great time, but I kept putting my camera away when the animals did anything exciting (Like when the monkey jumped at the window right in my face and I screamed!)

Preston loved feeding the goats in the petting zoo. He thought we should have done that the whole day!

Cousins! This was a cute little rest area with a chicken, a nest, and an egg that the kids played on. Preston's little cousins are so sweet and cute!

We've moved!!!

We finally made it to Colorado! It became a long drawn out process with closing on the new home pushed back, but we are finally all together again and getting a bit settled. Thanks to our many friends (old and new!!) who helped us so much. I was feeling basically useless in Idaho while Burke and many good people moved our things from Pinedale to Fruita. We were apart for about 2 weeks and the kids and I were so excited to be together again. We stayed in Idaho long enough to go to my family reunion and then we made the long trek home on Sunday.
Then I got to see our new house for the first time ( I love love love it!) and I have ventured out into the neighborhood to check things out a few times. I am pretty excited to have moved back to civilization again. I have already been to Walmart twice in the last three days! Here is a picture of the best part of being in CO: help putting the kiddies to bed! Here is Burke taking a break from dressing the kids in pj's (aka a wrestling match at our house) and reading the kid's "Little Women" Hmmmm. I better find the children's storybooks box soon!

Scare-Do

Okay, I have a very beautiful little girl, but she has the scariest hair I have ever seen! These snarls I actually had to cut out (they came from screaming and rubbing her head back and forth in her bed when she was having a bad day --week-- and wanted to be held all the time!) So I promise to post some pretty pics of her, but I seriously need advice. Burke's sister who is a very talented beautician who's opinion I trust and respect told me to shave it so it can all grow in evenly-- but I cannot imagine my little girl with a bald head :( I know hair grows, but I am not sure I am brave enough. I did shave Preston's when he was about 4 months old and I loved having it all come in evenly (plus he seriously had old mad hair with the bald spots on the side of his head!) Burke shaved Preston's hair a few weeks ago and I literally cried. So what should I do? Tell me your experiences growing kid hair!

YeeHaw! Ride 'em Cowboy!!

Again, fuzzy photos, but too cute not to post! This is Preston the self made cowboy! I guess we didn't get out of Wyoming without a little of it rubbing off-- This was a few days before we moved-- we had gone to a couple of rodeos which Preston was very impressed with. Here he is riding my huge duffel bag (handles make great stirrups, pull strap makes a great bridle) and wearing his potty chair (no it has still never been used!) for a cowboy hat. I laughed until I cried when I saw this . . .
