11 Months!

Amazing!  I am fast running out of time to call Beanie an infant!

The past month there have been small subtle changes that tell me she is well on her way to toddlerhood.

Here is the list of new things that have occurred the past month:
  • Standing without holding! She is getting better at it and is able to go for almost a minute at a time now. While standing she is usually looking around or dancing etc so her balance is pretty good. Wonder if she will walk by her 1st birthday?
  • Babbling a ton which is so cute. It like she is having a conversation about things and responds so well. Still mainly saying "okay" and "there" which is her favorite word when pointing at things. No mama yet, but lots of "dada" which is what she calls my Dad.
  • She understands all sorts of complex instructions now. She also knows body parts like nose, eyes, and can point to it on my face and her stuffed animals. She tried to put on her own socks yesterday - lol!
  • She is beginning to copy things, so if I clap she does too, or if I touch my head she will touch hers. When I ask her to brush my hair, she will pick up her hairbrush and bring it to my head. The other day I had taken her temperature and put down the thermometer, so she picks it up and raises it to her ear.
  • She has cut her two upper teeth and the one next to it, so three in the past week!
  • She is super cheeky and knows when she is doing something she should not and gives this cute cheeky smile. She is always smiling and laughing which I love!
  • She also sat on her first shopping cart this past weekend!
Food wise we have had no luck the past month with  finger foods or anything other than baby food. I gave her Mum Mums and she just holds it and plays with it. Its amazing, she will put everything in her mouth except food. Her pincer grasp is fine since she can pick up the smallest pieces of lint off the carpet. Well, I guess eventually she will be eating normal food!! I will just keep trying.

Sleep is hit/miss. When she is well we get some good stretches of sleep, but when she is unwell it all gets messed up. I know that when she is ready she will sleep through the night as she did a few weeks ago.

Her morning naps are getting longer and she sometimes drops her afternoon naps which is not the best simply because she cannot go 6 hours without one. The daycare is not good about putting her down for the second nap so its messing up our evening routine a bit, since she naps later at home and dinner gets pushed back. But those are things that come with the territory of daycare I cannot expect them to devote 30 minutes to putting her for a nap. So we manage by her sleeping an hour later in the evenings, which the past few days has been a later wake up in the morning - yippee!!

All in all she is growing and meeting her milestones and is a happy baby which is the most important thing. I cannot believe that this time last year I was 4 weeks away from my c-section!

Happy birthday, my sweet Beanie! I love you so much!

Go Canada!

Congratulations, Canada, on the hockey gold medal!

I actually was able to watch the last 20 minutes of the match and I can see why hockey can be fun to watch. Not to mention the cute guys ;-) Beanie sat on my lap during the medal ceremony and was quite intrigued by it all.

I cannot believe its been almost 2 weeks since I posted. Time is flying by with just too much happening.

We had sickness again! A cold for Beanie with one night of high temps. We seem to be at the pediatrician almost every 2 weeks - ugh! I am hoping things improve with Spring since this is driving me bonkers, not to mention its costly to keep paying copays each visit and the worst is watching poor Beanie suffer.

After one night of her hacking all night I decided to pull her out of daycare, but then in talking to everyone it seems it will make no difference. Her pediatrician said that from 6 mos on babies do get a lot of colds and its worse for those in daycare of course, but even at home with them putting everything in their mouth. Now that she has been through the winter I suppose its pointless taking her out now! I am gong to start her on probiotics since she is older now.

She does love it at daycare and can roam free without the million "no's" she gets at home because even though things are baby proofed, she still wants to get to stuff she cannot touch.

She is doing so much more nowadays which I shall save for her monthly birthday post.

Yesterday I went for a facial which was nice, but was feeling unwell since Friday and ended up with a temperature. Its the cold from Beanie, although I am happy to report that even though she has got several colds since Nov, I was able to avoid getting sick for 3 mos.   This time she had slobbered all over her hand and was running it all over my face, but she had a raging fever that night and it was making her laugh, so I let het do it!

What we will do for our babies!

My heating system got installed last week. It had an issue so I had to call them back but its fixed supposedly.

The new nanny starts this week. I am not looking ffd to getting Beanie used to another stranger. She has just got comfortable with the earlier one. Beanie has separation anxiety and my working from home does not help since she will see me and start crying. At daycare she is fine since she does not see me around.

Well hope to get some sleep. Beanie is sleeping better now with the cough gone, but I am up with a dry sore throat.

So it continues....

Need to book a mammogram this week and get my tax papers together. This year I will have an accountant do my taxes since I will have to change my status due to Beanie and I don't want to miss anything.

Oh we did go to Tar.get today and Beanie got to sit on the cart (with our cart cover). She enjoyed the experience!

R&R and other updates

I started last week completely exhausted and sleep deprived.

Beanie was waking super early, as in 4:30am, and refusing to go back to sleep or taking proper naps. She seemed congested and ended up with pink eye on Monday which caused a lot of additional sleepless nights with multiple night wakings and sitting up with her due to her coughing. Also, it got me back to feeling horribly guilty about sending her to daycare!

So as this weekend approached, I was literally running on fumes. But luckily I have managed to get some much needed R&R.

On Saturday I decided to stay home with Beanie. We played all morning and I napped when she did during the day. The weather was awesome, so we went for a leisurely walk after lunch. I then had a massage, while my Mom came over to watch Beanie and later we went to my parents to hang out in the evening. Beanie enjoyed herself immensely. She slept really well that night and in fact went a whole block of 6 hrs without waking which is rare and woke at 7am on Sunday - amazing!

On Sunday, after a nice hour long nap in the morning (when I snoozed too) we went out to lunch and shopping with my Mom. Beanie was very well behaved during lunch and all smiles and chatting. When we got home and we both took a nap, so I am happy to say that I actually feel rested for a change as I look to anther work week!

In other news, I cannot wait for winter to be over. We really enjoyed this weekend with the mild temperatures and I am looking forward to more walks with Beanie.

My nanny, who just joined about a month ago, is moving away so I have to look for someone else. She feels badly about leaving me in the lurch so is helping introduce me to a friend who also nannies. I will also go back to the website and seek out some of my other choices. Just when we had our routine all set and Beanie has got used to her - ugh!

My heating system downstairs needs to be replaced so that is one big expenditure coming up. Luckily I can do it through home warranty so its not fully OOP which helps.

Beanie is getting so smart. She understands everything. It is amazing how much she has grasped in her little brain. She can now follow complex instructions. This morning she was on the bed playing with my flashlight. At one point she has tossed it aside so I told her "go get the flashlight, Beanie, now turn it off and give to Mommy".  That is three actions to be performed, and she did it!!!

More snow/ice is expected this week. Hopefully it will not interfere with our lives too much - did I say I cannot wait for winter to be over??
