After a long and cold winter, we are finally seeing some lovely weather.
The past week has been warm and sunny, which was a nice change after almost 2 weeks of gray skies and rain. The daffodils are blooming and it feels very spring like. People are outdoors and doing yard work...love it!
In fact, was so nice last weekend, I took Beanie to the park on both Sat and Sun. She can now swing on her own without me pushing her! It felt so odd to finally be able to just sit and watch her swing. Also, she is now old enough to safely climb all the different ladders etc, so again no having to run after her. The park was busy both days since everyone was tired of being indoors.
In fact with the flu going around we curtailed our weekend fun quite a bit this winter. We mostly stayed home, often times because it was cold or raining, but equally because I did not want to go to crowded places. As a result, we have had a lot of Beanie-Mommy play time.
Today we finally ventured out to Wal.Mart and G.ap to outfit Beanie for Spring. Wal.Mart has some really inexpensive Capri which are perfect for school. We got a few dresses too which are super affordable, durable and cute. At Gap we bough shoes, an Ester dress, and a bunch of t-shirts. Beanie is into dresses, so this year I am only buying her a few t-shirts, and mainly dresses. She still fits into many of her dresses from last year.
Last weekend I did some pruning of my rose bush which is practically a tree now! And some odds and ends. I don't plant flowers until the and of March since we will get a couple of cold snaps between now and then.
Its just nice to be able to put away the thick coats and hats!
I dislike winter, so glad its over!

Winter Fun!
Before the sickness and freezing temperatures hit around the holidays, we were able to squeeze in some winter fun.
1. Snow Days!
This year we got not one but TWO snow days. The first one in Nov dropped almost 4 inches of snow which is the most we have seen. We tend to get snow every other year but about 1-2 inches, enough to ice over and cause issues. But this time we had a good snowfall in Nov. Beanie had a blast.
2. Nutcracker ballet
It was our first time seeing the Nutcracker. I was not sure if Beanie would be able to sit though it all, but she loved it. She still talks about Clara and how she wants to be a ballerina. She takes ballet classes which she enjoys very much.
3. Holiday Lights
We did the drive through holiday lights as we did last year. We usually go on a weekday when its exam week, so it is never busy.
4. School Christmas Recital
Beanie had her fist ever recital. It was hilarious. She was so excited to the lead up. But once on Stage she did not do much and looked like she was being held hostage--lol. She barely sang the songs and did not do the actions. Interestingly when she came home she was singing on the top of her voice - sigh!
5. Santa (of course!)
We did pics with Santa at our local shopping center. We did Santa pics and had a hose drawn carriage ride. This year they changed the timings from 12-2pm to 6-8pm on a school day. Bad idea! It was dark and freezing cold. Next year we may look at alternatives.
6. Holiday decorations
We were very efficient this year. We had our Christmas stuff out during TG! Beanie was a huge help and pretty trimmed did the entire tree herself except the top. It was such fun looking at the ornaments and explaining where we got each from.
7. Home Depot fun!
We have been doing this since the Fall. One of Beanie's friends Dad told us about the Home Depot Kids Workshop. It is a free event that occus once a month. It is super fun and we have been going since the Fall
