Before bedtime tonight, we were watching the San Diego Zoo Live Web Cam.
We watched the elephant cam, giraffe cam, penguin cam, tiger cam etc which was really fun because we got to see the animals awake and moving about, since it is 3 hour earlier than our local time.
Finally, we looked at the Baboon Cam.
We saw this magnificent ape sitting on the ground eating grass. We watched as he picked out the green shoots of grass, tore the long grass into smaller pieces collecting it in his right hand and the stuffing a handful in his mouth.
Beanie was quite entranced and immediately said - "He looks just like a person the way he is using his hands".
I told her "Yes, humans evolved from apes, so a very VERY long time ago we were like them but then we started walking on two feet, and using tools and got smarter and were able to build homes and get jobs ".
She continues to look at this ape thoughtfully...
..and then asks me..
"So, were you like him?"
