When Lincoln was 3 years old his right eye started crossing and he was diagnosed with Accomodative Esotropia. Over time the crossing has gotten worse. Last October he got glasses but even with stronger and stronger prescriptions his poor little eyes continued to get worse. He has been such a champ about the discomfort and I am so proud of him. In June we went to Doctor Bardorf at Children's Eye Physicians and he found that his eyes were getting much worse and that surgery was necessary. He said without surgery his right eye would be blind by Christmas. So, on June 28 he went in for surgery at Colorado Children's Hospital in Aurora.
He was very excited for his surgery, not knowing how awful it would be. He couldn't have been sweeter about the entire process. We waited in the room with him and then went back with him which was extremely sad. As they put him to sleep he was very concerned but everything went great.
When we went back to get him after his 45 minute surgery we could hear him from down the hall saying he wanted to go home and was ready to leave. He couldn't open his eyes and he was so sad.
He was so sweet when we got home. He refused to try to open his eyes so he kept asking if the street lights were on yet and if it was time for bed yet ha ha. I think he was tired but refused to take a nap!
It took 3 weeks for his eyes to lose the redness and where he finally felt better. He talks about this surgery alot and how scared he was when he woke up. I'm so proud of him for going through all of that. We had to give him eye drops twice a day for a week and it was torture ha ha. You would have thought we were pulling teeth!
So grateful for modern medicine and that they were able to fix his eyes. He is so happy his eyes aren't crossing anymore!!
1. Surgery.
2. No more crossed eyes!
3. Still handsome as ever in his glasses.
