Bowling

A couple of weeks ago we went to Fat Cats and the Pizza Factory. It started out as a free showing of The Christmas Carol that my Grandpa invited us to then we ended up at the Pizza Factory for lunch with my brother and his wife and my sister and her husband and little girl. After lunch we decided to try out bowling with the kids. They had fun for the first couple of frames but then Preston and Rachel lost interest. About the 7th frame Zack kept asking when we were going to be done. We finally finished the game. Probably the funniest part about bowling with the kids was watching them try to carry the bowling balls. Especially when Zack picked up the 16 pounder! Anyway we had a good time but probably won't take all of the kids if we decide to do it again.
Thank goodness for this little contraption. Not only did it help the direction of the ball but it also gave it a little bit of speed. Otherwise we might still be there waiting for the ball to make it all of the way down.

Zack was trying so hard to get the ball to go straight.
This is what Rachel did for entertainment most of the time.
Jackson had a good time and even got a strike!

Waiting...
I did it!

There was a few close calls of Zack throwing himself down the lane with the ball.

Yum, Yum!

CELEBRATE

My little monkey just turned three. For Rachel's birthday we went to Denny's for dinner (we like Denny's because kids eat free after 4 on Saturday) where some of the employees sang Happy Birthday to her and gave her a free dish of ice cream. She didn't eat much ice cream but the rest of us did. After that we went home and Rach opened her presents. She got a new doll with a bunch of little things to go with it. I already love picking those up all day! The next day we had family over for cake and ice cream. Even though she's the only girl she doesn't let the boys tell her what to do. She is a good big sister to Lucas and will always find a binki for him as long as he doesn't touch her toys or her blanket. Rachel is finally potty trained. For good this time. Except at night. She takes after her brothers in size weighing in at 26 lbs (7%) and standing 36 inches high(21%). I love to hear her talk in her cute little voice. We love Rachel so much and are so grateful to have her in our family!

THE THINGS WE SAY

Lunch today-

Me: (talking to the boys) Stop talking and eat your sandwiches. Arrggg!

Rachel: (who had wandered down the hall) Eat your anich (sandwich) Arrggg!

Zack: Mom, how does someone go blind?

Me: I don't know.

Zack: But you said that you know everything.

Question of the Day

The winning question of the day is brought to us by Preston.

Preston - "Mom, is infinity and beyond minus infinity and beyond zero?"
Smart boy he is.

Me - (trying hard not to laugh) "Yes it is Preston."

Finally a question I have the answer to.

Love him!

Grandpa Chambers

My cute Grandpa Chambers passed away a few weeks ago. Growing up I always enjoyed visiting my grandparents and Grandpa always had a nice big smile for me and good, strong handshake to go with it. Even right up until he died if he got your hand in a handshake you were stuck. At the funeral, three of his sons and his only daughter all spoke to us about their dad. They each had a few stories to share but one thing that they each talk about was his testimony of the Gospel. A few years ago my Grandpa planned out his funeral and his testimony is what he wanted shared because that is what he wanted people to remember about him. He loved the gospel and he loved the Savior and he loved his family. I love him and will miss him. And look at my cute Grandma. Isn't she darling? My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last April. I hope Dave and I can be just as cute when we celebrate our 60th.

Family Pictures

A few weeks ago I had my sister take some pictures of us at Layton Park. I think she took about 300 pictures. By the time we got to the park to do the family ones it was almost dark and Lucas wasn't feeling to well so they were a little tricky. But overall we got some super cute pictures. I may put more on later but for now, Enjoy!

In almost every picture Preston had his hed tilted to one side. We had to keep reminding him to put it up straight. These are the best we could get with all of us together.

I think Lucas may have lost circulation in his arms from Jack and Zack holding on to him so tight to keep him from falling over.

Zack loves to pose for pictures.

If you haven't noticed, look how thick Jackson's hair is compared to all of the other kids. He got that from Dave (When he was younger).

I went to the park during the week to get pictures of all of the kids so of course I had to get in on a few of them. When Dave looked at all of them later he said it looked like I was single with 5 kids. Very funny Dave!

There's that head tilt I was talking about. I love his blonde hair.

My Rach. Loves to have her picture taken. Any time. Any where.

One of the few pictures we got of Lucas with a smile. I tried to put him on the ground for a close up in the leaves but all he wanted to do was eat the leaves.

Sick

Myself and all five of my kids have been sick for more than a week now. I hate being sick. So while I wait to see if the medicine will kick in and clear things up a bit so that I can sleep better than I did last night I thought I would share a few things.
1-I usually get depressed as I look around my house and see the lack of decorating going on but tonight I decided I am mostly ok with my decorationless house. I am not saying I wouldn't decorate if I found something I really like but for now I am ok. And here's why. I found an autumn table cloth in a drawer yesterday so I pulled it out to put on the table. When I finally got around to putting it on the table tonight it wasn't more than five minutes before the kids started fighting over it and one pulled it one way and the other pulled the other way. It wasn't until I threatened with bed time that one of them let go. I'm sure it will happen again tomorrow. I think this is why it usually stays in the drawer.
2-As I was sitting on my bed tonight watching tv I heard a little voice come over the baby moniter and it was Rachel in her bed singing Twinkle, Twinkle little Star and the ABC song. It sounds more like kinkle kinkle ittle tar. I just love her little voice.
3-One of my most favorite players got sent home from the Biggest Loser tonight. The black team sent Abby home. She was always so nice and positive.
4-As I type this I realize that I am not a very good typer. I think I hit the backspace as many times as I hit the space bar. Oh well.

Bedtime

I love my kids bedtime for two reasons. The first one is obvious-I get some quiet time. The second reason is that I love puting Rachel to bed. This is one of my favorite things to do. When we put her to bed she has to have her favorite blanket. And not only does she have her favorite blanket but she has to have it a certain way. She has to have the yellow side with polka dots and the ties down and the purple side facing up. Which to me is upside down but oh well. Most nights I put it on her the wrong way just so I can hear her say "Wa way ma." (wrong way mom) And then she laughs. Which makes me laugh. So I turn it over and give her hugs but before I can give her a kiss she gives me a kiss on each cheek and then on my forehead. And then I get to give her a kiss. No matter how the day has gone this is what I get from her at bedtime. I absolutely love it. Especially since the boys are not quite so easy to put to bed.

6 MONTHS

I can't believe Lucas is already six months old. He weighs 15 lbs 12 oz (17%) and is 25 and 3/4 in long (23%). Now I realize that might not seem very big to some of you but compared to my other kids he is actually the biggest at this age. Only by a few ounces but still bigger. I love this age. He is really starting to play with toys and anything else he can get his hands on. He is getting close to sitting up and crawling. He will get on his hands and knees and just stay there for a few seconds and then drop back down and roll around and just turn in circles. He is ticklish right up by his neck and loves to laugh when anybody tickles him there. His brothers also like to make him laugh and I just love to listen to them playing.

FINALLY!!

After two and a half weeks of not having a working dryer we finally got our new one delivered today. Yea! And since we have already fixed the washer once we thought we would just get a new washer as well. Yea! My aunt and uncle gave us our old washer and dryer almost eight years ago. We were so grateful to have them since we didn't really have alot of money at the time to buy new ones. I don't know how old they were but the dryer looked like it was from the 70's. They both served their purpose well and have now left us. And finally our new washer and dryer are here. We got front loaders and I just wish I could get them hooked up asap and start washing. I never thought I would be so excited to do laundry but since I have done as little as possible the last two weeks we have laundry everywhere. The day the dryer quit drying we started potty training Rachel. Not a good idea since she goes through three or four pairs a day. We also ran out of pull-ups for Zack and Preston to wear to bed so their sheets and blankets are all stinky. I did change their sheets once but Zack won't use any other blanket than his own so even though it has been peed on multiple times he still uses it. So hopefully today or tomorrow I will finally get everything washed and dryed and put away.

Wish I was sleeping!

It is 4:30 in the morning and I am up with Lucas. I thought we were done with this middle of the night stuff about 3 months ago. I guess one child up is better than 4 children up which is what we had yesterday about ten minutes to six. So I sent two of them back to bed and left Dave with the other two and then I went back to bed. Although I didn't sleep much after that. Oh well. It all comes with the territory of parenthood.

Really? Zackery? He wouldn't do such a thing. He never disobeys the rules! Ha Ha! So when I picked Zackery up from school today his teacher had to come and talk to me and she told me that Zack got in trouble because him and some friends were playing in line while they were waiting to go outside. When we got home I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was playing midgie and other people were wacking him in the head with their backpack strings which he was pretending were tree branches hitting him in the head. For anyone that doesn't know, midgie is when you pull your shirt down over your legs. As shown by none other than Zack himself in the above picture. Of course I thought it was funny but I couldn't laugh. I just told him not to do it next time. If this is any indication as to how the school year is going to be we are in for a fun ride!

The picture above is actually from the 4th of July when we were watching fireworks at Davis High and 4 of our 5 children fell asleep during the fireworks. Jackson who was the only one not asleep didn't want to be left out so he fell asleep on the way home.

Baby Lucas

For those who don't know baby lucas is now known as baby lu ha ha, given by his older sister Rachel. Since I'm too busy (lazy) to set up Bythewaybits again I am creating this blog to show pictures of our new baby lucas. First we will show a little vid just after birth.

Then just a few good looking pics of lucas
