THE DIRTY DASH (with lots of pictures)

Last Saturday we headed up to Soldier Hollow for the first ever Utah Dirty Dash. My sister was planning on doing it with some friends so some of my brothers thought it would be fun and talked Dave into joining their team of 5. The first order of business was to eat some breakfast.
Don't they look excited? They all had their matching shirts on because the boys were doing a mini race after the big one.

Before the race.
L to R: Kevin Crandall, Jordan Chambers, Dave Bytheway, Chad Chambers, Ryan Crandall.
The race was a 10K with obsticles through out the whole thing. It started out with everyone running up a mud hill and then during the course they had walls to climb over, tunnels to crawl through, tires to step over, a ravine to go down and back up, a bunch of switch backs, a few hills, a slip and slide coming down the last hill and of course they ended the race with a big mud pit that you had to crawl through.
I think Dave is at the top of the mud pit going under the flags.
The after shot.

Dave totally dove head first into the mud pit. He said it was actually pretty fun.
Then after the 10K they had a one mile Piglet Plunge that the boys and two of their cousins ran in. They were pretty excited about their tatoos. After running up the mud hill and back down, Zack just looked at me and told me it was lame. After the mud hill they ran up to the top of the slip and slide and came down that and then finished off with a dip in the mud pit. I'm actually surprised that none of them lost a shoe or got stuck themselves. Preston was smiling the whole time that I could see him. And Zack even cheered when he finally climbed out of the mud pit.
Dave was such a good sport to go along with them after he had just barely gotten cleaned off from his own race.
Preston told me it was awesome. I think Jack liked it. And all I ever got from Zack was that it was lame and he wished he had just stayed home by himself all day.
Preston asked me if I wanted a hug. I think I will pass!
Apparently the water was freezing. The boys wouldn't get under the shower so Dave was just trying to splash it on them. He did the best he could and then we just changed them and headed home. They were all pretty worn out. Lucas and Rachel were so good just hanging out the entire time. But Lucas was asleep before we even left the parking lot and Rachel wasn't too far behind him.

It was a pretty fun day. When we got home, everyone showered, ate dinner and then we headed off to the circus. Needless to say, we all slept in the next day.

ALL GROWN UP!

My little Lukey Bug is growing up! He went in for his 18 month check up yesterday and he finally passed the 20 pound mark. He weighs 20 lbs 7 oz which is in the 3% and he is 30 inches tall which is the 1%. At least he is on the charts. With the new baby coming we thought we would try Lucas out in the toddler bed. He does fabulous at night and doesn't even get out once. Naptime is a different story. Since I am not ready to give up his two, two hour naps, we will be sticking to the crib for now. Doesn't he look so cute in his little bed? And here he is enjoying a peanut butter bar that my brother made. I don't think he actually ate anything but the chocolate on top but he had a lot of fun playing in it!

Dave was the lucky one that got to clean up this mess!

FINISHED BASEMENT

In June we finally got the rest of the basement finished. It is so nice to be able to just send the kids down there to play. Lucas just goes down there any time he wants and I don't have to worry about him falling on the cement or getting into stuff that should not be gotten into. It wasn't finished for very long before the boys got it broken in. In fact most of the time the bathroom stays locked just so they don't play in the water and get it all over the floor including on the carpet. Someday we may even get a shower curtain hung and rugs put down so we can use more than just the toilet. We have actually gotten a mirror since I took this picture so one thing at a time I guess.
This is the only reason I am excited for winter. I can't wait to use the fireplace. Since we finished it in June we haven't really used the fireplace yet. I hope it works.

And someday we may get furniture. But it is also nice to just have it open for the kids to run around in. They love it and I love it. And I have to say, Dave did a pretty good job. He did all of the work except for the dry wall. It looks fabulous. Come by and see it any time!

And because the toy closet got finished we didn't need the bedroom as a toy room and because we have another baby that needs Rachel's room upstairs we redid the 2nd bedroom downstairs for Rachel. It used to be all blue but I of course wanted to make it girly. So I found the bedding and then let Rachel pick a color from it for the walls. Since her favorite color is purple that is what she picked. I added the trim on the wall and re-painted my old bed from growing up so that it would match the blanket. I love how it all turned out! And Rachel loves her new room and bed. She likes her blanket but doesn't actually use it. She still won't use any blanket except the one that her Grandma gave her when she was born.

I AM SO READY!!

Tomorrow I will be 35 weeks and I was ready to have this baby yesterday! I had a doctors appt yesterday and even though I still have 5 weeks until my due date I was really hoping that he would tell me I was way dialated and ready to have it right now. Much to my dismay, I did not have it. Oh well. Just more time for the baby to grow, right? I am dialated to a 1 though so there is something going on. He told me to just to take it easy for the next couple of weeks. I took that as no housework. Yea! Dave didn't hear the same thing.

But I am very ready to see my little girl. I can't wait to dress her up in all of her cute clothes. And I can't wait to give her lots of hugs and kisses. I am ready to be done being pregnant. I do love to feel her move but I am ready to have my body back. I realize that I don't get a very big belly when I am pregnant but I am still very uncomfortable. Zackery tells me I don't ever help with cleaning anymore. I told him to put a basketball up his shirt and then try to bend over. He just gave me a dirty look.

So I have another appt. in a week and a half. We will see what that brings. Until then, I will endure the sleepless and uncomfortable nights, using the bathroom all day long, tucking and retucking everything in all day long and especially everytime I bend over. And until then I will love my other little ones before they sadly get pushed aside.
