The pictures are all jumbled up but this is our Las Vegas Ragnar. Woot! Woot! We started out by driving down to St. George the night before. Had dinner, went to Walmart and then went to bed way too late. Van 1 got up at 4 am on Friday morning and drove another 2 hours to get to the starting point. And off we went! Chad started us off at 7:30 and we just kept on running for the next 32 hours.
This is Chad. Doesn't he look excited? Before he started his last leg his foot was hurting so bad that he could barely walk. He was a trooper though and made it through. A couple of weeks after the race he went to the doctor and turns out he had a stress fracture so he is in a boot for four weeks. The things we put our bodies through!
The guys totally killed it! I think Preston did 7 miles in 59 minutes, Dave did 7.3 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes and Micah did 4.8 miles in 36 minutes. The girls didn't do too bad either. I did 5.3 miles in 50 minutes and my personal best for 3.1 miles in 27 minutes. Everyone had awesome times but this is all I remember off the top of my head. Coming up to exchange 18 we had to tell Micah to slow down because the race officials weren't letting teams continue if they were ahead of their estimated time. He was pretty ticked but we made it work and they let us continue on.
Here we all are at the finish line. Good job team I'D STILL RATHER BE NARFING! More than anything, it's just fun being with family for two days straight. We encourage each other, tell jokes, share food and drinks, get a bit sarcastic, and of course their is lots of laughing! Everyone stayed mostly pleasant considering the amount of sleep we get during a relay race.
Hanging out at the starting line. We are getting excited!!
Who does this during a race? Apparently having 2 miles added to his 1st leg (cause he was nice and switched legs with his wife1) didn't bother him too much.
Way to start us off Chad!
This is the reason we did the relay in Las Vegas. The Saints and Sinners medal (the ones on the outside). If you do Wasatch Back Ragnar (which we did in June) and Las Vegas Ragnar in the same year then you get the Saints and Sinners medal along with the regular Ragnar medal. Totally worth it!
Here's Dan bringing us in at the end!
This was what we got at the 2nd major exchange. Pretty nice isn't it?! It was a great place to relax and get a little bit of sleep. Some of the guys took their shirts off and jumped in the pool for a bit. Jen wasn't on our team but we ended seeing her while we were at this location. And then at a few more exchanges.
