Preston's Birthday

2005
Preston loves to hear the story of his arrival. He was born 5 weeks early via c-section due to the fact that he was standing on his feet in my tummy instead of standing on his head. He tells me that he was ready to just walk on out of me. (if only it were that easy) He thinks that he is pretty cool because he is the only one of the kids that did that. This is not a birthday picture but Dave wanted me to put it on. As a baby, Preston always had his eyes so wide open. I think he is about 2 months old.

Preston was super duper excited for his birthday this year because he is finally 5! He can't wait to go to school at the end of the summer. We just love him to pieces and are so so grateful that he is in our family.

So far in 2010

I don't like how blogger posts the last picture first and the first one last. Anyway, this is our day today. Rachel just loves any picture of herself.
We have Eva over today so we get to listen to both of these little gems all day. Surprisingly they are both asleep right now. Yea!

I told Preston to put on a long sleeved shirt under his camo one so that he would be a little warmer. This is what he came up with. He calls his plaid shirt his work shirt because it has buttons down the front like daddy's shirts.

Lucas has found his tongue and loves to play with it and show it to everyone.

Dave played twister with the kids while I watched the Biggest Loser. I know I should turn the tv off and play too but we don't have DVR anymore. So sad!

Dave got a black eye from church ball. This was how he kept the ice pack on without having to hold it all night.

Lucas figured out that he can climb into cupboards now. He just cant get back out.

He thought he was pretty cool with his brothers head lamp on.

Is that talent or what? Zack was being a little creative during our Uno game. If you cant tell he is holding the cards with his toes.

Rachel made pudding muffings. She even put them on the cooling rack to cool off. She ate all of them before anyone else got one. I'm ok with that.
And it's only February!

GUESS WHO?

Well, nobody guessed the right kids in my little guess who. Some of you got one right, but nobody got two. Preston and Jackson were the two that cried because I pulled them away from the treasure box and Preston is the one that cried from Bountiful to Kaysville. It was such a lovely ride home. Better luck next time.

The Results are In

We got the results back from the lab yesterday and it turns out that Lucas has strep in his nose. Weird huh. So we are back on antibiotics (the same thing we had a couple of weeks ago) and we will just wait and see if this takes care of it. If not I guess we will have to look into other options. But at least he is happy while he is on the antibiotics. So there you have it. As for the guessing game, I will wait a few more days to see if anybody else wants to give it a shot. Good luck to all of you. I love being the one that knows the answer. Ha Ha Ha!

NOT SO HEALTHY

So I did my last post a day to soon. Lucas' booger nose came back. So I called the doctor this last Monday and he wanted to have a nasel culture done on Lucas. So yesterday I packed up all of the kids and headed to Bountiful for a 5 minute trip to the lab. Poor Lucas had to have a 4 inch swab stuck up his nose. He for some reason didn't like this much. In the meantime, the nurse was nice and let the other four kids pick something out of the treasure box. Two kids picked theirs out and were ready to go. The other two couldn't decide what they wanted and not wanting to stay their all day I gave them to the count of 5 to pick something. They still couldn't decide so I grabbed them by the arms and pulled them away. They both cried all the way to the car. One I had to drag behind me the whole way while carrying Lucas in the other arm. We made it to the car and one of the two cryers cried all of the way from Bountiful to Kaysville. I love my little ones. Now we have to wait for the lab results to find out if anything is wrong with Lucas. Now for a little quess who. Who were the two that were crying and which one cryed halfway home? Leave me a coment with your guesses and I might have a prize for anyone that gets it right. For anyone that wants to guess and doesn't know all of the kids names (there is only a few!) we have Jackson, Zackery, Preston, Rachel, and Lucas.

HAPPY BABY

This is the ledge just outside of our shower. And yes he is sleeping. This is when he was sick.

And this is when he is healthy and happy!

It's so nice to have Lucas smiling and laughing. He has had a cough and a runny nose since the beginning of October. At one point he had an ear infection so he was on antibiotics for that which cleared things up but as soon as he was done with the medicine all of the runny nose and cough came back. When we took him in for his 9 month check up and he was still sick the doctor wanted to try a stronger perscription so we did. He was happy and feeling better while he was on it (which was fabulous because this was over Christmas) but as soon as the medicine was gone it all came back. So I called the doctor again and got stronger antibiotics. A couple days after starting that he was so happy. He has been done with it for five days now and is still healthy. Yea! Now he plays by himself and laughs and gets into everything. I never thought I would be so excited about a baby getting into things and making messes and eating anything and everything that he can find on the floor. And he sleeps better. When he was sick and grumpy all of the time he would randomly fall asleep on the floor because he was so tired from not sleeping at night. Anyway, here's to a happy baby!

FIRE DRILL

Tonight we received an Emergency handbook (I'm guessing from the emergency response coordinator in the area) so I started reading it and I am very excited about it. Usually when I hear about emergency prepardness there is so much information that I don't know where to start. But this packet has forms to fill out, checklists to follow, what to do and when to do it. I'm excited to get all of this put together and talk to the kids about all of this and to jump start it we decided to have a fire drill (We didn't think to check the weather outside first, but it was snowing. Or raining. I guess a fire wouldn't really care what the weather was.). I'm embarrassed to say that we have never really discussed this with the kids so I didn't quite know what they would do. We thought they were asleep so we thought it would be a good time to see if they woke up to the smoke alarms. Turns out the only one that was asleep was Lucas. Jackson heard the alarm so he came running up the stairs and I told him to get his shoes and coat on and he thought I was joking. I told him to get his brothers and get shoes and coats on. Then he got excited and took of to get Zack and Preston and they were up the stairs quicker than I have ever seen them go. Then I heard Rachel's door open. I don't know if she heard the alarm or if she just heard me tell the boys to get shoes and coats on. She came out and asked me where we were going. I told her it was a fire alarm and we had to run outside to the mail box fast. She actually got a little scared. Anyway, we all got outside safely. Dave even got Lucas out of bed which I wasn't planning on. So over the next couple of weeks and months and hopefully on a regular basis we can talk to the kids about emergency situations and get things put together and in order so we can be a little bit better prepared if anything should happen.

YEA FOR SCHOOL

I love my kids but it was oh so nice to send two of them back to school this week. The noise level is so much lower with only three at home. I realize some of you are probably thinking that three at home is alot but three is less than five. And since Lucas takes a nap from 9:30 to 11:30 I really just have two to play with in the morning. You may ask what I do with my free time in the morning? The last two mornings I got to color with Preston and Rachel. If anyone needs artwork for their walls we have quite a selection to choose from. And today my morning was spent in the bathroom trying to convince a child that he needed to go #2. I think we were in their for about 3o minutes and he wasn't going to even try which is what he has done for days now so I finally pulled out the enima (not sure if that is spoeeled right but that is how it sounds). He didn't think that was a good idea but oh well. Anyway about 10 minutes later we had success. The job was done for at least today. If you call me tomorrow morning I may be doing the same thing. Don't you wish you could come over?! This might all be TMI but at least I will have it to remember.
