Tender Mercies...

Today I received a pretty great spiritual dropkick in the face.

I needed it.
And on the way home from Institute, Mark pointed out something on my side of the road. Guess what it was?

Yup, a llama. Four actually. Well, technically three and a baby llama. And guess what I did?
Cried. Bawled, actually.

Why? Well Elder Bednar, in the October 2005 General Conference, explains it best:

"Recall how the Savior instructed His Apostles that He would not leave
them comfortless. Not only would He send “another Comforter” (John 14:16), even the Holy Ghost, but the Savior said that He would come to them (see John 14:18).
Let me suggest that one of the ways whereby the Savior comes to each of
us is through His abundant and tender mercies.
For instance, as you and
I face challenges and tests in our lives, the gift of faith and an
appropriate sense of personal confidence that reaches beyond our own
capacity are two examples of the tender mercies of the Lord. Repentance
and forgiveness of sins and peace of conscience are examples of the
tender mercies of the Lord. And the persistence and the fortitude that
enable us to press forward with cheerfulness through physical
limitations and spiritual difficulties are examples of the tender
mercies of the Lord." (Bold and italics added.)

Llamas, as silly as this sounds, are a tender mercy for me. See, I love llamas.
  • My brother, John, gave me a paper mache' llama for Christmas one year and it one of my most prized possessions and whenever I would see it, I would smile because of the hard work that he put into it for me. Someone loved me enough to make me something that was a labor of love, and it meant the world to me.
  • Llamas are rare. I've only seen a handful in my life and to see these llamas, on a day where I had just received a testimony of something that I needed to receive was ... perfect. A tender mercy.
Thanks.

Needs...

I need a girls night out with people that aren't my roommates so I can discuss ... stuff ... that is going on with me. I'm thinking dinner at some place SUPER yummy and then ice cream and a jaunt through the park.

Any takers?
