our story
I was scheduled to be induced and got to the hospital at 6 am to start antibiotics because I was strep B positive. I was hooked up to an IV around 7:30 am and then Oxytocin about 8:30am. The pit took a while to get the contractions going good. They would come really consecutive, then slow down, then come back really strong.
I got my epidural around 11 am, which made me super sick and dizzy. Then the Doctor broke my water about 12:30pm. I was not really changing and it took forever to get to a 5. I went in at a 3 and it took most of the day to get to a 5. After I hit 5 1/2, an hour later, he was born within 2 contractions.
We thought we would be able to go home the next day and do the 24 hour stay, but with the strep B, they like to keep the babies at least 36 hours, plus we had to wait to get the circumcision done till the 2nd morning. When the DR came and checked him out, he found a heart murmur and a hip click. He ordered an echo-cardiogram, so we had to wait most of the day for that to get done and the ped. cardiologist to read it. Not only did he have the murmur, but he also has a little pin hole in his heart, which they said was really common, and he should grow out of it. Hopefully, they will be right. :)
We finally got the ok to go home that afternoon, and have loved being home ever since! He is a pretty good sleeper and an excellent eater. This nursing momma loves that because the baby weight comes off faster that way, so bring it on! He eats every 3 hours, not a minute later, or he'll lets us know he's starving.
We have really enjoyed having a baby in the house again, all their little sounds and noises they make are so cute! He loves to snuggle, so he obviously sleeps in our bed most nights. I don't really mind because I get to smell his clean, lotioned little body all night long. :)
