Bear's Blanket

My mom made Bear this little blanket, and he just loves it. It even has his name embroidered on it. Thanks mom!

More of the weekend

We got some other little house projects done while my mom and dad were here. We took down a cabinet in the kitchen and hung some open shelving, and my mom finished up some curtain projects. I can't get any good pictures of the curtains, so you will all have to come over to see them.

On Saturday, both of my sisters came over and we went to the Young Women's broadcast together. It was fun to be all together

All tuckered out on the couch...mom, Ashley, Bear & Cheesepuff (that's the stuffed dog next to my mom.)

Here we are working on the bathroom. Bear wasn't the best helper, but he sure wanted to be in on all the action.

Upstairs bathroom remodel

We remodeled our upstairs bathroom. Last week I painted the cabinets and added hardware to them. Then earlier last week Caleb got all of the tile and backer board off of the tub surround. It was a big mess. Then, while my mom and I were doing little projects around the house, my dad was re-tiling our upstairs bathroom. Our new bathroom looks fantastic! Everytime we go in there we say how great it looks. Thanks Mom and Dad for all your help. We couldn't have done it without you.

Making Monday: Fabric Panels

This last weekend, we were lucky enough to have my parents come in to town to help us with some house projects. One of the projects my mom and I did was make these fabric panels to put above the washer & dryer in the laundry area. I didn't like seeing the pipes and plugs behind the washer & dryer. So we made these panels. We took 2 pieces of plywood and covered them with quilt batting. Then we covered them with fabric. They hide the ugly stuff behind the washer & dryer, and you can tack things up on the boards with pins. I think it really pulls the area together and makes it feel more finished.

Making Monday: Bathroom remodel

It's Monday again already!! This week I have been remodeling the downstairs bathroom. This has been a slow process. When we moved in, the bathroom looked like the photo on the left of the before pictures. It had wallpaper, brass faucet and one of those light fixtures that is just the bulbs in brass as well. We stripped the wallpaper, tiled and painted it a neutral color just after we moved in. It looked like the picture on the right for the last two years. This week I have finally been putting some finishing touches in there. I painted the cabinets red. Caleb wasn't sure about this, but I think he likes it now. We painted the walls a light tan color, put some new accessories up and I made curtains for the window. It also had an old frosted glass and brass door that we took off of the shower. Now it just has a curtain. It feels better now...cleaner. I am really loving the red cabinets. I think that's my favorite part.

Making Monday: Baby shoes

I am going to start a little thing on my website called Making Monday where I show something that I made during the week...could be a sewing project, recipe, craft...anything really. It could also be something I wish I could make. Since I have a little more time at home, it's been fun to be able to do these kinds of things once again.

These are some little shoes that I made for a friend who just had a baby. I got the patter from Little Stitches for Little Ones by Amy Butler. This is such a great book. It has a lot of fun projects in it.

State Fair

Ashley and I went to the Utah State Fair today. Caleb didn't want to come because he says the Idaho State Fair is way better, and he would rather go to that one. I do have to admit...he is right. But it was worth going to. We saw a lot of animals...the bunnies were the cutest. We also saw this guy....in his gold shirt and gold shimmery hat.

And there was an awesome Bear show. The bears did tricks.

A fair wouldn't be complete without a ferris wheel.

Bear in the bathtub

So, Caleb and I have been doing some home improvement projects this last week. Bear has been very curious about what is going on. He's been trying to eat screws, gets in the saw dust and barks at the drill. We were putting the cabinet doors back on the vanity in the bathroom and he kept getting in the way. So, I put him in the bathtub. He still wanted to be part of the fun. So he stood on his little back legs and watched us from the bathtub. So cute!

Blame it on the Tetons

Last week one of my favorite bands came to town, Modest Mouse. Mindy, Ryan, Bev, myself and Audre went to the show. It was a great show and we had fantastic seats. Mindy got some pictures from the night.

Mel, Ben & Oliver visiting

Last Sunday Melanie, Ben and Oliver came to visit us. They have a fantastic garden and brought us these vegetables. They also brought us some canned goods Melanie has been canning. They are beautiful. Oliver loves coming over here because he gets to play our video games. We sure enjoyed having them here and are so grateful they live so close to us.
