Memorial Day Weekend 2014

So we flew in on Saturday and lucky for us, Neil came in with us. We had SO much stuff- there's no way I could've done it all myself! Bear and I are basically done in Denver, so we were bringing back as much stuff as possible with us. We had 6 suitcases and Barrett's big carseat.

I had a good idea to load my old phone with just stuff for Bear to use on the plane and I bought him his own headphones too.  He's always good on the plane anyways, but he really liked having his own things.

Sunday, we went to have dinner at Jill's house.  Barrett has been in heaven since we got back! He has been having the best time with his cousins!

I had these cute stickers made on tinyprints.com.  I don't know what we're really going to use them for, but I thought they were cute so...

I can't believe how hot it is here already!  As I mentioned last week, Denver is still having crappy weather and we've only had a handful of nice days since we've lived there, so we are not used to heat yet!  It's nice, but it'll take a bit of time til we're used to it I think.

It was great to be here for Memorial Day.  Jill and her family went to get some flowers from Grandma GiGi's house to take to the graves.
At Grandpa RJ's grave.  Max wore a suit so he could "pay his respects"  He is so great.
We put some flowers on my cousin Ben's grave and my cousin Sayler's grave too.

We had to check out the horses too.

Off to get some sodas.
Bear was thrilled about getting a lemonade.  Unfortunately it was strawberry lemonade and got all over his white shirt.
It also stained his face, but whatever.  It all washed out eventually.

At Grandpa Denny's grave.

And my Uncle David's.
We had an afternoon BBQ at Shelley and Sean's.

I seriously haven't seen him this happy in weeks!  He belongs with his cousins.

Crazy Weather

We've been having crazy storms here this week.  Lots of thunderstorms, hail storms, and tornado warnings complete with funnel clouds!  We've actually been really lucky and have only had to deal with rain and wind at our house, but all around us has been a mess!

Somebody sent this picture to Neil, the building under the funnel cloud is his building.  He only works a few minutes away from our house and luckily was home for lunch during the tornado alert.

First and Last Day at Our Pool

We haven't had too many really warm days here and while I normally wouldn't call 77º "pool weather," I decided to take Bear over to our pool since we'll be leaving Denver very soon.  I put Barrett's swimsuit on and we went in his closet to pick out a shirt to wear over to the pool.  He first picked out a collared shirt and then immediately decided he needed his red sweater/jacket instead.  Fine by me!

So we walked across the street to our pool and basically had it all to ourselves!  He liked these cute little chairs and tables.

It ended up being a pretty good temperature too!  Outside wasn't too hot and the water was a nice temp too.  Surprisingly, it really wasn't that windy either (I swear it's ALWAYS windy here!)

It's supposed to storm the rest of the week though, so I don't think we'll get another chance to swim here.

Peanuts and Cracker Jack

Yesterday we went to a Colorado Rockies baseball game.  We totally lucked out with the weather too.  It was pretty warm, 82˚, but it was overcast so we didn't get too hot sitting in the sun.
We definitely spent more money on snacks than we did on our tickets to the game!  I think we bought one of everything they had!  On round 1 of snacks, Neil came back with 2 hotdogs, a drink, nachos, and chocolate covered bacon which Bear requested.

On round 2 of snacks, Bear was asking for popcorn and ice cream.  We nearly went around the whole stadium looking for popcorn- not kettle corn- and then Bear spotted some!  He had his eye on the prize!  He was SO happy about his popcorn!
We sat and ate our popcorn and ice cream for a while and just watched the game on the tv.

When we went back to our seats, some really obnoxious frat boys were behind us, but they were nice enough and gave Barrett this little purple Rockies finger.
The craziest thing happened when we were walking from our car to the stadium for the game.  I ran into an old friend from jr. high!  His name is Brad Bullough and he lives in Steamboat I think, but that is 3 hours away from Denver!  What are the chances!?  After we walked away from them I thought I should've gotten a picture with him. Oh! and he just barely got married and his wife's dad's name is Barrett!!  So random!

For Fun

Neil's been out of town for a few days so Bear and I have been looking for some fun things to do.  Just the other day I discovered that Park Meadows Mall had a pet store in it!  I haven't seen a pet store in a mall since I was way little!  I was excited to take Barrett to see the dogs there.  He loved it and was really having fun looking at all the dogs!

Today we went down to Colorado Springs to play with Tyce and Rylee.  They also have a membership to LifeTime Fitness, so we went there to swim.

It was a little chilly, but the kids still had a blast playing outside.

They even got to paint!

I think Bear and I will both have to get used to this- he loves picking up sticks and rocks and just today he got about 7 slivers in his hands from all the sticks!

Memories

Just a few things Barrett has said/done lately that I want in his book.
I'll often look at him while he's eating and he'll just have the biggest smile on his face and be in his own little world.  I always wonder what he's thinking about.

The other week, I called to Barrett to come eat his dinner and he said, "Do you have a roll?" I said yes and he said, "okay, I will."  He loves rolls!  Who doesn't though!?  That's what he asked for for breakfast this morning too actually.

He is kind of obsessed with saying, "On Sunday, we go to church, on Sunday."  I think he's probably trying to remind us!  I may have written that on a post before, but he still says it all the time.

I showed him Finding Nemo for the first time last week and it's his new favorite!  Granted, he's only seen like 4 movies.  Anyways, the first time I showed it to him, on the part where Nemo is swimming out to the boat, Barrett was totally yelling at the tv, "Don't get on the boat, Nemo! Come back, it's too dangerous! Nemo, you can't touch it!"  He was so worried!

He always says wee-haw instead of yee-haw.  I don't know why that's really even a part of our vocabulary, but apparently it is.

For a long time, he's being saying something about his sister coming on his birthday.  I have no clue what he's talking about when he says that because I am not pregnant.  If he tells you that, I'm sorry but don't get your hopes up.

I put him to bed and then was going to get in the shower.  Right as I was about to start the water, I hear him on the monitor saying, "I wanna go pee and poop and toot" so I wrap a towel around me and go in to take him potty.  When he looks at me he says, "What happened?"  I say, "What happened to what?"  And he says, "What happened to your shirt!?"

Conversation with a bunny on the grass:
Bear: Hi bunny.
Bunny:...
Bear: Good, how are you.
Bunny:...
Bear: I'm just walking home.
Bunny:...
Bear: Okay, sure, if you want, bunny.
Bunny:...

This is my favorite!  When he asks a question, he adds "huh?" at the end of it.  He'll say, "where's my soccer ball, huh?" or  "Where are we going, huh?"  I love it when he says it, I think it's the cutest.
I know, I'm the mom so I'm super biased, but I just can't get enough of this guy!

He learned how to count to 30 a couple weeks ago too.

Mother's Day

On Friday, I received flowers from Neil.  Actually, they were supposed to be delivered on Thursday but since we live in apartments, sometimes things get delivered to our door and sometimes they get delivered to the main office.  These got delivered to the main office and they didn't bother to bring them over or let me know they were there to pick up, so I didn't get them til Friday when they hadn't been fed or in water for a day.  They were still really pretty but definitely thirsty!

Barrett's been waking up really early since we got back from Utah over a week ago, like 5:30 early! I don't know why because it's not like there's a time difference or anything.  Anyways, he's very tired by nap time and wants to sleep forever.  I often have to wake him up from his nap at 3:30 so he'll still go to bed on time and he's always super cuddly when I wake him up.  It's pretty great.

Sunday snowed ALL DAY!  I took this picture around 1 or 2 pm probably so we got a lot more snow after this picture too.  I took all my winter clothes back to Utah thinking it was going to be spring!
Probably the best part of Mother's Day was when Bear woke up at 5:30 and I just got to go back to sleep.  Actually that might've been the 2nd best part of the day.  I think the VERY best part was when Bear ran up to me, gave me a hug, and said, "I love you, Mom" totally on his own.  He rarely says I love you unless I ask him to, so that was pretty wonderful.  Or it could've been when he woke up early from his nap and he was crying and still very tired so we went and cuddled on the couch and had a nap there instead.  It's hard to say which part was best- we had a pretty great day.
I wanted to take some pictures with Barrett after church but he just wanted to play.
I kept trying anyways.  I bought myself this new dress for my Mother's Day present. Thanks to Neil for paying for it though!

I posted this picture on Instagram.  I really like it.

This was this morning.  It snowed all night and guess what, it's still snowing!  I think it's supposed to finally stop sometime tonight.  Definitely doesn't feel or look like spring around here!

Here's a nice picture of my mom and grandma at the Mother's Day party at my mom's house.
