Sick and Tired

That is the only way to describe Beau and me for the past couple of months. I haven't had anything really positive to post for the last little while, and couldn't get enough brain power going to make it sound funny instead of depressing, so I haven't done anything. However, today is Tax Day and that means that life can get back to normal. Well ... kind of. Here's a list of what has happened with the SLC Cartiers in the last month or so.
  • Allisun is sick with all day morning sickness
  • Beau begins to work later and later
  • Allisun is still sick, but works out a deal with work to come in two hours later to have more time to throw up in the mornings
  • Beau begins to work earlier and is still staying late
  • Beau's birthday is celebrated at Cafe Rio without any pregnancy problems
  • Allisun thinks that hitting the 13 week mark is going to be the beginning of the end of the pregnancy woes
  • Beau is really tired when he comes home because he gets up between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM to get in a good workout before his long day of working on tax returns
  • Allisun has fun hanging out with friends and family to fill the time that Beau is at work
  • Beau barely has time to email his family to let him know he's alive and he's really tired
  • Allisun starts to feel dizzy one Sunday night, throws up all night long
  • Beau has to go to work but wants to take Allisun to the doctor
  • Allisun and her mom go to the doctor's office, the baby is doing well (Allisun: "That's great!" then throwing up in the doctor's office. Doctor: "I'm sorry you feel so sick, someone will get a wheel chair and take you to the ER. I have to move on to other appointments." Allisun can't walk alone because she is still so dizzy)
  • Beau is trying to work on tax returns, but keeps getting updates about how Allisun is doing in the ER
  • Allisun gets diagnosed with Vertigo. ER Doctor: "You probably got a virus in your inner ear, even though you don't have any other symptoms. Try some of this medication to help with the dizziness, but there's nothing we can do to fix it."
  • Beau is really tired after a long day and comes home to and empty studio apartment
  • Allisun stays at her mom's house for two weeks (with brief stints at home with Beau)
  • Beau is trying to get as much sleep as possible, and considers sleeping at his desk to save time (ok we all know he wouldn't do that... I made it up)
  • Allisun has to be carted around, much like a small child who needs help walking, while her mom goes to work one day
  • Beau gears up for his last week of taxes (he really likes doing them, just not working the long hours) and can barely keep his eyes open long enough to drive home
  • Beau and Allisun close on buying the Korth home (in South Jordan). It was as short a meeting as possible for Beau and the lights were as low as possible for Allisun)
  • Allisun gears up to spend her birthday at the studio, not at the Korth/Cartier home
  • Beau gets up early on Allisun's birthday and gets ready for work while saying nice things to Allisun
  • Allisun is too sick to get out of bed for her birthday, but gets lots of nice phone calls
  • Beau and Allisun get to spend a lot of the weekend together because Allisun can walk on her own and Beau is not working as many hours
  • Beau puts the rest of the frozen carrot cake (from our wedding) in the fridge to thaw out in preparation for the Tax Season Ending Celebration
  • Allisun returns to work for a few hours after a two week hiatus (taking the bus because driving is not a really good idea when you are still off balance)
Tonight: Beau and Allisun rejoice because tax season is over and Allisun is getting better

We never know what life is going to bring, but I would like to venture that this has been the hardest tax season and will (knock on wood) be the worst of our lives. My motto for the duration as been (and will continue to be) "This too shall pass." That's the moral of the story folks, so live it up!
