Lets Play Catch Up

Confession: I am hanging my head in shame as I type this next sentence. It has been nearly 6 months since I last blogged and I am sorry I have been such a bad blog friend to you all. But alas lets try to let bygones be bygones and I will happily catch you all up on a few things.

First BIG and I mean BIG event, Mike came home from Afghanistan!

Adia and I waiting for Mike to arrive

A long awaited embrace
Meeting Daddy all over again
Daddy's Girl

Family is complete!

The banner I made for Mike to show him how proud I am of him, or maybe just to embarrass him a little bit

Adia and her Daddy playing for the first time in months!

It was an amazing experience to see, hug, kiss and introduce Mike to his daughter again. The deployment was long, grueling and at times unbearable but we did it.

Second thing, Adia mastered crawling, got some new teeth (4 to be exact), learned how to walk and run, oh and she also talks now. Crazy what kids can do in 6 months eh?

See the teeth! :D
Run Adia run!

Third, we moved to El Paso, Texas and have been here about 4 months. We bought a house and I have yet to post pictures on it anywhere so I think that may have to be a future blog post to show off our new digs.

Fourth, Adia turned one year old! Amazing how fast and slow that year went. We had a very small birthday for her. It was just Mike, myself, Adia, and of course the pets. I baked her a pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing and we let her dig in.

Fifth, we recently went home to Utah and Boise to visit family. It was the first time in nearly 2 years that Mike had been home so it was a much needed trip. We got some pretty snazzy family pictures done but Adia was not having a good day and was acting like a turd (a very cute turd) and the pictures turned out less than ideal sadly. But the pictures are still gorgeous and we are very grateful to have any of the three of us since we have very little of all three of us.

Lastly, no I am NOT pregnant again yet. Eventually we will jump on that baby bandwagon again but for now it is fun not being a walking talking incubator to another human being.

I think that is about all for all the big main events. Again I am sorry for being such a slacker I promise to be a better blogger friend. Until next time y'all!

An Opportunity

I am sitting on the back porch listening to the London Metropolitan Orchestra. It is nice to be alone with my thoughts and fabulous music.

It is getting near to the end of our deployment and I cannot wait to have my husband home. The nights are lonely, and the weekends can be extremely lonesome but it is a small price to pay for being able to rest my head on my pillow each night knowing I am safe because of the sacrifices my husband and so many other men and women make for our country.

Adia is growing up so fast it is incredible. She isn't crawling yet but getting very close.

She has no teeth yet but those puppies are working on popping through. I think she has inherited her daddy's teeth. Which means essentially this girl is going to be best friends with a dentist her whole life if she grows teeth the way her daddy can.

Chief is well the same; loud, fat, and cute as a button. I can't want for him to wrestle around again with Mike. I know Chief could use some good old fashion rough housing.

I guess I could talk about myself in my own blog? Okay here goes....

I have started running again. It is a slow process getting yourself back into the shape you were before you had your baby. I run slower, have more "extra" skin and lets face it I hate how winded I get so fast. But alas I am pushing on, I try to run 3 miles every other day and I am slowly increasing my speed. I try to trade off days of treadmill and jogging outside with Miss Adia. And seriously running outside is tough because it is so flipping hot so fast here in Texas.

I mean here it is 9:30 pm and it is 93 degrees outside. Ugh. So in order to get a reasonable jogging temp in that means I must be up by 6 and hitting the pavement by 6:30am and that my friend takes dedication. Something I seem to be lacking since most often I am clocking my miles on my Ironman treadmill.

I talked Mike into running a half marathon with me and Adia in October in El Paso. The date is looming over my head and I think about it daily. I really need to get in shape and I want to run a half marathon by Adia's 1st birthday and run one every year from then on. Crazy right?

Well that seems to be all that is on my mind. Until next time.

5 Generations

While I was in Utah I had the opprotunity to visit my great grandpa. We call him Honkey, he is a sweet old man and still has a sense of humor. He is 100 years old and he told my dad that he wants to make it to 101 but that is it. Silly Honkey, doesn't he know I think he will make it to 105?

We were able to get a few picture with him and Adia after all how many kids get an opprounity to meet their Great Great Grandfather?
Adia with her Great Great Grandpa Honkey

We also took a picture of all 5 generations.

Great Grandpa Honkey, Grandma Spurier, Dad (Rodger), Myself (Candi), and Adia.

Adia's 1st Easter

So I am late blogging about the most recent holiday. (no surprise there) My camera lens is seriously out of whack and I am too cheap to drop some cash on a new and better lens. I think I am going to bite the bullet and order it this week.

Are you ready to embrace the blur wth me? Lets go on our journey.....

Since it was just me and miss Adia for Easter it was a quiet and simple day. The best part of the day was when we went outside to snap some pictures. Adia loved two things, easter grass and the lawn.

She wasn't after the eggs, just the pink grass inside
Infatuated with the Easter grass
And even more infatuated with the real grass.

I am excited for next Easter when the three of us will be together and maybe Adia can even hunt for eggs.

Just Sitting Momma

Adia is growing up so fast. Today while playing in the kitchen and after making banan walnut muffins I decided to put Adia on the counter to see how well she could sit.

Well, she shocked me to say the least. Thankfully my mac was near so I could capture the moment.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter is an amazing sound
It is even more amazing when coming from a baby

Adia is laughing at my friend Debra's dogs who were playing with each other.

Adia laughing at me of course because I am hilarious
