Scared out of my Shoes!

Unique Wake-Up ALARM

So, this morning I went into work when it was still dark out. In my own little morning world I stepped out of my car and headed across the parking lot. I got about 5 steps from my car and hear this deep man's voice right next to me.
I rarely get startled enough to jump let alone gasp, but in 1 second every horror movie I have seen, every scary story on the news, flashed through my mind. His voice was there and I couldn't understand him because I was panicking. I turned to find the man and he was about 20 feet away in the parking lot. "what is he doing here?" Then he kept talking and my eyes adjusted to see a man about 60 years old, in his walking suit. He was asking me something about the high school, but it took me a minute to process what he was saying because I was still processing the fact that I was alone in a dark parking lot, long before the rest of the world was even thinking about waking up.

I don't really know what he was talking about, but I quickly realized he saw me pull in and began walking over to share his concern about the high school.

Just a cute old man walking in the morning.

But, the realization hit me, I need to be more careful and I need to buy some mace!

My hands shook for about 20 minutes. I am embarrassed it scared me so bad, but reality is, it could have been bad.

So, BE CAREFUL!

It's My Birthday!

I am not one to toot my own horn, but I love celebrating my birthday! And I love celebrating it with others! I guess I just love having an excuse to celebrate anything. And I love eating good food with great people!

My family does a great job of letting me know that they are happy I was born and still alive to have yet another birthday celebration!

So, let me share with you my festivities. Last Friday, Carissa was moving back to school (NY) and so we decided to have a family dinner together. Almost everyone was there, but we missed Jared, Alli and Merritt. :(

We ate the most delicious dinner! Mom made a roast to die for, it was soooooo tasty! Renee made her famous salad that I couldn't stop eating, some rice from Jenny's kitchen. Oh, and don't worry, just in case we made 6 trays of rolls. Miscommunication! So, we had plenty of food (especially rolls). Thanks Matt and Jenny for hosting, yet again!

BUT WAIT....... as many of you know, I don't like cake, so Tessa made a beautiful ice cream buffet. Complete with fruit, snickers, toppings, whip cream...... I felt like my stomach might explode. And it came pretty close to it while wrestling my nieces and nephews. They really wanted to be spun around and around! I was exhausted! And quite DIZZY! I really enjoy being with my family! It really helps that they are my best friends!!! We sat around and told stories (of course, most having details slightly altered or exaggerated). But the best stories always are!

Talked a bit about my sister-in-laws bumpy road into our family (no you are not a "hussy"). I love them as my sisters (forget this 'in-law' stuff) they have been there for me through a lot. Talked about my fun times with a broken body and my mom making my sisters sit with me after school. You know you loved it!! GO "LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE"

It was a good night until we had to say good-bye to Kiss until Christmas! Blah! :,,(

She will be missed! Especially as my bike climbing buddy up Little Cottonwood Canyon! GO US! Record time!

Then Tessa and I headed out to a 'Crepe Party', more food! That was fun to see friends and catch up, but by the time I got home I was exhausted (probably because of my nieces and nephews). I tried quickly to make it to bed because Jenny and I were meeting up early for a long bike ride up Emigration canyon the next morning. Which by the way we KILLED!!!

Ok, you surely don't want to know all about my weekend. What is this a Journal, ha ha.

my birthday... day

For those of you who are unaware, I teach Early Morning Seminary too. So, my day started out really early! But if you have to go to work on your birthday, it's great to go where you love and with people you love. My students brought cupcakes at 6am) and sang to celebrate my birthday. It was so nice they remembered (I only reminded them 3x's :) And such a happy morning with them!

My other classes remembered too and my co-workers. So, I heard 'Happy Birthday' and ton by 7:30am! HaHa. We had a nice lunch at work, taco salad and pie with ice cream!

And guess what? My sister Tessa brought me flowers! So surprised! I loved them, they were 'so me'! Cute and smelt sweet :D Thanks Tess, it made me smile every time I saw them!

After work I headed to the temple. I figured that a great way for me to celebrate my life is to help the dead! I didn't realize how tired I was from the night before until I almost fell asleep during initiatory. Who does that? Who can do that? Apparently me, since I am a year older.

Later that evening I went to Matt and Jenny's for Jambalaya and Corn muffins! My favorite! But the best part was the dancing after! I might of got a little queasy from the spinning and grooving, but oh so worth the giggles and tickles! It's amazing how much fun one can have to Hanna Montana!

And then a little late night chat with my sweet roommate!

The developement of the Church in Ukraine and the building and dedication of the Temple, seems comparable to the 2nd coming. The preaching, preparation, excitement. Building a place for the Savior (Temple-Earth). Turning hearts to the Fathers... to the children , and children to the fathers (Malachai 4) (Elijah D&C 110)

We need to prepare the earth for the coming of the Savior, like the Ukrainians prepared for the Temple to give place for the Lord in the Ukraine.

What are you doing to prepare a place for the Savior in your home, community, family?

I would like to know.....

The Lord is my Light

"THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; WHOM SHALL I FEAR? THE LORD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY LIFE; OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID?" (Psalm 27:1)

I have just been thinking of all the recent events that have caused so much suffering and saddness. And I would just like to say how grateful I am that I have the Lord in my life! Having a testimony of Jesus Christ is so important, but also so wonderful in times of distress! He truly does give light in the darkness, and He truly makes our burdens lighter. If Christ is on our side we need fear nothing, He overcame all and can help us!

I LOVE YOU!

"I LOVE YOU"

Three very powerful words when put together and sincere!

I have a student who, every day he says, "Sister Dahl, I love you!" and just in case I have forgotten he reminds me every 5 minutes. If it's quiet he will say, "Sister Dahl, I love you!" Then very innocently he says, "Sister Dahl, do you love me?" And I can sincerely say.. "I love you!"

Remember, it's powerful to hear those magical words and it changes you when you share them.
