MY THREE SONS....LIVIN' IN TEXAS

4/26/2011

Bluebonnets

I took the boys in March to our regular bluebonnet field, and there were too many bees and people there. So the next day, I decided to try a new field, and we were thrilled to find that we were the only one there and instead of bees, there were ladybugs and butterflies everywhere. The only bad thing about that, is that I couldn't get them to look at me, they were too busy looking for ladybugs to hold. That's ok though, I still got my pictures of my boys in the field of Texas bluebonnets. Love them so much!!

See, here is Austin just after we got out of the car with the first of many ladybugs on his hand.

Look Mom!! Butterflies!

Easter Sunday

Ok, so the pictures in front of the flower cross were actually taken on Monday, hence the non Easter clothes. There are just always too many people around to take these pictures on Easter Sunday. Anyway, the boys brought flowers from our yard to Sunday school, and helped decorate the flower cross with their classes. Isn't it beautiful?

Getting all three to look at me and smile was just impossible, but hey, I did get all three IN the picture right!?

After church on Sunday, we went to our cousins' house for swimming and BBQ. Luckily Pops, Uncle Ben, Grandpa, and Aunt Lisa could join us too!

Less than a week after Braeden's swimming lessons (he had only practiced 5 days), and look at what a pro he is!! I am so proud of him!

We always have to get the kids with the confetti eggs. It's just fun!

Before we left to go home, Hope played a song on the piano for us. It was beautiful!

Random Love

What's random love? Just a bunch of shots of the boys loving each other, or shots I love, or shots that say I love you....

I love the way you can see Austin's motion riding behind Braeden here.

I do have to tell you what this one is. It's the opposite of love. Colton does NOT love potatoes.

Yep, a handful of grub worms.

Braeden's "artwork" - that's what he called it.

Shadow play

I am in a group that practices the photography skills we learned in class, and the challenge assignment we had was to play with shadows. So we literally decided to play with our shadows, and it was fun. I like these pictures, they are different.

Louisiana tradition

We went to our annual crawfish boil/ family reunion in Louisiana the day before Easter Sunday. I think I can count on one hand how many times I have missed this tradition in my lifetime. It was bittersweet this year, and I will honestly say that I struggled not to cry. I have the best picture of Mom and I last year with my big pregnant belly right next to the big tree we hang the pinata from. I think it was our last picture together. I found my joy though in watching my boys do the things I got to do as a kid. The pinata is always a favorite.

Braeden got whacked in the face by the pinata.

And Austin gave the pinata a pretty good whack!

The best part!

Pinatas are fun even after you have all the candy out of them.

Just about half of the kids this year.

Swinging!

Sweet boy's first time at the reunion. Next year he will be eating crawfish too.

Both boys picked up crawfish, and within one minute both boys got pinched! That was their first time to get pinched. I remember learning the same way. After they got pinched they would only pick the crawfish up in cups.

Easter School Parties

Grandma kept Colton for me so I could go to the boys' Easter parties. It can get a bit tricky when both parties are at the same time in different areas of the church. I was so glad that I wasn't having to push the stroller back and forth to each party, and I was able to see both Austin and Braeden go on their egg hunts.

Here is Austin's class getting the directions. Their eggs all had numbers on the (1-6), and they were only allowed to pick up one of each number. It was a great way to make sure that everyone got the same amount, and it made the kids think. The funny thing is that all of them wanted to pick the eggs up in order from 1 to 6, so it took a bit longer than planned. They had a great time!

Ready, set, go!

Here is Braeden's class getting the instructions. They were told just to pick up 6 eggs so they just practiced their counting. It was great. Braeden did a good job counting his eggs and put back the couple of extra that he found.

Super fast!

Commando boy!

Well, just like the other boys, it takes me writing on the blog that they aren't crawling and then, wham, just like that they start crawling. We have another commando crawler here. Braeden crawled the same way pretty much until he walked. Colton has shown some signs of crawling up on his knees also. He can do it, but if he really wants to get somewhere quick, he flops down on that big belly and takes off! He also has a tooth that has poked through on the bottom. That's why near the end of the video you see the lovely slobber. I can feel the other bottom tooth almost poking through, so he should have two teeth to take a picture of soon.

I can't believe he is already crawling. It is more difficult this time to protect him because pretty much every toy the boys have is not safe for him. I've got a rocky few weeks ahead as I figure out how to baby proof again. :)

Swimming with Ms. Glendy

Braeden did better on the first day of swimming this year. He was nervous, but he did a great job!

Day 1

The end of day 1, and already swimming on his own.

Day 4

I wish I had video of him on Easter Sunday just two days after this one. He was swimming all over the pool on both his back and on his stomach. Glendy has a true gift from God when it comes to teaching these kids. It is so hard to believe that when we started lessons (day 1) it was only 4 days with her before he "had" it. I am sooooo looking forward to spending lots of time in the pool with my boys!
