Carolyn's April Shoe Box Project

My friend, Ada, provided me with the bird house template and I used it for my project for Artistic Souls Circle of Friends. With spring trying so hard to reach our area, I thought the timing was perfect to use this design and the stamps from Scrolls Work seemed perfect, too

April Shoe Box Card - Merine

Yesterday I mentioned that I wanted to recolor the flower for this card as the one I made at club didn't quite match the cardstock. W E L L . . . the original stamp was more attractive than the one I used, and I didn't have the right colors either so I improvised. Isn't the original flower more elegant looking?

April Shoe Box Card - Barb

It is not unusual for me to mess up a design. This card has multiple sheets of beautiful papers on the inside to coordinate with the front; and, the ribbon was to be inserted between the various papers front and back to tie the card closed at the blank area near the right-hand side.

You guessed it ... I glued down the layers before I inserted the ribbon so I had to improvise and run mine down the fold.

NOTE: I have one more card to upload but I need to change the color of the flower to better match the cardstock first. I'll finish it up in the morning.

INSIDE - Flip Flop Booklet

Here is a photo of the inside of the booklet - view one. If you flip the center panels you view another set of Alice in Wonderland images. It was a clever project.

Alice Flip Flop Booklet

At the local Artistic Souls, the circle of friends present shoe box projects and I didn't finish the one Inka introduced which was a flip flop booklet. I cut out the panels and stamped the outside card but I wanted to take mine home and use the Alice in Wonderland images from Scrolls Work for the center panels. This photo is of the closed booklet. I will scan the inside soon.

Altered Design HOUSE MINGLE

I joined the "house" mingle wherein we were to prepare two house shaped projects for trade. Rather than design them in the same fashion I made one similar to Steampunk and the other oriental.

Michelle Zindorf Class

Approximately a year ago, I found out that Michelle Zindorf was coming to Boise to teach classes. I have wanted to attend one of her classes for a very long time so I signed up for the beginner class held last Sunday. Now I wish I had signed up for both classes because the one I attended was above and beyond what I expected. I can't wait to try it on my own. These are two of what she called "practice" cards that we made in class. Aren't they just stunning!

Crafters Cafe Digital Contest

Sue over at Crafters Cafe is sponsoring a contest to create a sheet of small collage images that can be used in small pendants like the ones she sells on her site. The goal is to help support a local Family Crisis Center.

You can read all of the details and view the entries on her blog.

Let your digital art friends know that they could participate in this event to help families in need and be in the running for a great prize.

"Stay the Course"

At the March Divas meeting, Ada presented a clever accordian folded booklet project with several different themes we could use. I elected lighthouses and this is a photo of my finished booklet. Note the closure -- the brown wrap-around slide that keeps the booklet closed. Below is a view of the booklet opened. This design has oodles of possibilities and the club members enjoyed the project. Thanks, Ada.

TGIF - Altered Designs

The ATC theme this week for TGIF at Altered Designs is "masculine." While I was at it I made three variations. The middle one is out because the metal brads don't show up when uploaded.

Which card, either #1 or #3 should I post for the swap?

Beauty of Spring

SPRING, my favorite season!

Easter sneaked up on us and I believe Mothers Day in the USA will be the same so I put together a few cards using some of my favorite floral designs from Scrolls Work. I used alcohol markers, foil and chalks to create these cards.

Fabric Art - my first

Judy, a member of "circle of friends" at Artistic Souls, presented the March monthly project and introduced us to Shiva Paintstiks and fabric ink pads to create designs on fabric. We experimented with a black square of fabric and our final piece was a silk scarf, all of which turned out beautifully.

As part of my resolution for 2010 I told myself, "You must finish what you start." and, this is how I finished off my black square. The bird image was transferred to a silk-like fabric and I used my sewing machine to attach it along with the other elements. Sewing layers of fabric together was a little tricky and you can see not centered perfectly but I am still proud of the fact I completed my block. It has left the house as a birthday gift for a treasured friend.

Scrolls Work Stamps - Design Team

No one was more thrilled than I when Jacque decided to assume the Inka stamp line and renamed the business Scrolls Work Stamps. She has already added new images and has a fun blog. And, now she has put together a Design Team which I am honored to be a member. You can read all about the team and follow the links to their individual blogs. This is an exciting time for all of us at Scrolls Work Stamps. Thanks, Jacque and Inka for making this possible.
