I realize that I have a COMPLETE Angel on my hands. Adelyn is so sweet and loves to eat, sleep, and be her adorable self. Chad and I are SO in love with her and look forward to every little smirk in her sleep, kick, burp, poopie/pee diaper, and breath she takes. She is definitely loved by all who meet her too. I can't wait until my side of the family can see her. It's weird not to have them close by and only living through pictures but this is better than nothing.
Now that I've had a nap and Chad's holding our sweetheart, I can update our bliggity! :)
The LABOR!!!

Because Chad was going out of town the following week, we convinced the doctor to induce. Luckily, I was dilated to a one and 80% effaced. He told me that I would come in for them to give me cervadil to soften my cervix on Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning I would get my epidural and pitocin. The next few days, Chad and I were debating on what restaurant to stuff our faces at.. and Tuesday comes around. No restaurant picked. In fact... there wasn't a lot of noise going on at our house. We were quiet thinking about what we were heading towards starting that night. It was so exciting. Every once in a while, Chad would look at me and smile really big and say, "We're going to have a baby TOMORROW!!"
I'd smile back with excitement, but in the back of my mind I was a little scared of the labor process thanks to all the scary stories women like to share right before you pop. Thanks guys!!
Well, that morning I woke up feeling a little wet. I've heard of water breaking and was very curious. Was Adelyn deciding to be the "You can't fire me, I quit" type of girl? :) Just like Ashna would, I called a few of my sisters that I knew had their water break to see if that's what it was like and around noon decided it was best to call my doc. and I came to the hospital early to be sure. Right after my sweet husband gave me a blessing.
No water breaking. YES!!!! We can still eat. :) We chose based purely on dessert and chose The Cheesecake Factory and BOY did I feel full. Apparently everyone else thought so as well. Right when I walked in the restaurant and older woman asked if I was having twins. Gotta love that.
Then, when I arrived to the hospital, the woman taking my blood asked met he SAME question. Chad looked at me in shock on how people can be so rude. For the first time, it was me making him calm down. haha. Whatever... just get her out of me. I'm D-U-N done being pregnant. 7 lbs or 20 lbs... it's TIME!!!
They put the cervadil in (NOT a pleasant experience by the way) and I had until midnight to have last minute snacks and yes I was still full. Chad and I got ready to sleep for the night in the hospital and 4 AM rolls around and I'm starting to feel menstrual-like cramps and the nurse checked me after the cervadil accidentally came out and luckily I was dilated to a 3 so we didn't have to replace it. Thank GOODness!!
The next day, Dr. James (Grant and Lindsey James' Dad) comes in to give me the epidural around 10:30 and the nurse on shift at the time gave me some pitocin.
I keep dilating... 6... 7.... 7.5...
4 nurse shifts later we get our nurse again from the beginning. I'm STARVING and surviving purely on sonic ice and the epidural bubble bath feeling was beginning to subside.
**Click click click click click**
haha. Not really, but I did have a click it a few times to help my back and just enough to still move my legs a little bit. :) Finally, the nurse informs me that I'm a 9.5 dilated and 100% effaced. BUT she'd be back in about 15 minutes to give Adelyn a chance to get into the 2 position. EXCUSE ME!!! 15 more minutes?? UGH!!! You KNOW I was begging Adelyn to move and believe it or not... my little angel obeyed. The nurse came in and said it was time to push!!
Contraction 1: PUSH PUSH PUSH
Yes, it's just me, Chad, and the nurse.
I start feeling dizzy. I think I'm going to toss my cookies.... Breathe Ashna... BREATHE!!!... luckily it goes away and they put me on oxygen.
Contraction 2: PUSH PUSH PUSH
"Chad, you should check this out. Look at her dark hair!!"
Contraction 3: PUSH PUSH PUSH
Chad is being SO supportive (no pun intended.. haha) and I have my little cheering squad coaching me through.
Doctor comes in. Contraction 4: (I think) PUSH PUSH PUSH
"Um.. Chad, you might want to talk to Ashna after this. Look at ALL that dark hair." Haha
And Chad chimes in: "Ashna, it looks like you're having TRIP!"
Who's Trip, you ask?? Yes, that is their family DOG!!
The doctor laughs and then looks at Chad and says, "Uh, Chad. Man to man... It's probably would be best if you didn't say that." :)
35-40 minutes of pushing and our Angel is born. 8 lbs 13 ounces!! Rollie Pollie and BEAUTIFUL!! My emotions were high, I could breathe again and we were finally a family of three!!

Honestly this labor was a wonderful experience. Even in between pushes there were conversations, jokes and laughter. Just the way I would've wanted it. Thank goodness for EPIDURALS!!! It made this experience a piece of cake!! I've been SO blessed!!! I have an amazing labor coach/husband, a great pregnancy, a great labor, the most beautiful, healthy baby girl in the world, and a loving God to thank. Every experience and trial in my life has led me to this point. I'm one happy mama!! :)
