Paks in Action!

Paks is the official name for the soccer league that Mason is in. I think it stands for something very original like "parents and kids" or something like that. Anyway here are some photos of the little guy at work. They played alot of games to learn new skills and really had a good time. A couple of Mason's favorites was red light, green light, where they practiced dribbling and stopping the ball. And then the kicking contest, to see who could kick the ball the farthest. I think he had a very good time! And he has a pretty darn good kick, if you ask me!

Mmm Mmm Good!

Well, Becky, after seeing your rice crispy treat creation on your blog, we decided we had to try it! Being that peanut butter and chocolate is the supreme combination, I used chocolate and peanut butter chips on top of the rice crispies and then topped it all off with chopped Reece's Peanut Butter cups. Here are the results! Very Yum, by the way.

Saving for a Rainy Day!

Mason is having a Skittle feast! But he must be worried about a shortage as I see that he is putting some away for later. After a long morning of grocery shopping, we are having some down time, 'cause I don't know how it is with you and your kids, but a shopping trip with Mason is exhausting--for us both! So, after eating lunch, we are now winding down with a movie from Red Box (we love that old box!) and, of course, some skittles. This was just way too cute to pass up, so I had to get a picture of it right away.

I am secretly hoping that I have tired him out enough that he might actually have a nap. But who am I kidding? That hasn't happened for a very long time! Oh well! Can't blame me for trying, right? At the very least I can hope for a few minutes of peace and quiet, those are rare moments around here! I'll take what I can get! I need to "put away" a little energy to get me through the rest of the day. Won't be long before the rest of the boys will be home from school, and then....... well, you know what!

Destination Imagination!

This weekend was the culmination of 3 months of hard work for Matthew and his Destination Imagination team. Destination Imagination is a competition which combines creativity, teamwork and ingenuity with technical, engineering, and problem solving skills. There were several different "challenges" to choose from incorporating all of the above. Matthew and his team chose a challenge called "Obstacles, of Course". Yes, it was an obstacle course, but with a unique twist. They had to build a vehicle (7"x 5" or somewhere close to that) that could maneuver an obstacle course, which they also created. And while someone drove the car through the obstacle course, the rest of their team had to do a skit relating to overcoming obstacles (acting, but no talking)! It was quite a feat! And they did a spectacular job, if I do say so myself. They used a circus theme, which they really had a lot of fun with. They came in first place in the competition, they were very excited about that, and have the opportunity to go to Knoxville, Tennessee for the national competition in May--If they can raise enough money to go that is!

Soccer Monster!

We decided to sign Mason up for a parent/tot soccer league this spring to get him ready for fall soccer. Saturday was Mason's very first soccer game, and he was so excited. He got his very own soccer ball and t-shirt, which he wore non-stop for 3 days! I missed getting to watch this week, because we were in Ashton watching Matthew's DI competition (more on that later), but Darrell went and played with him and they really had a good time together! You can bet this soccer mom will be there to cheer him on this week! I'll try to get some good action shots!

Fast Asleep (posted by Sterling)

On friday me, Jared and my mom stayed at a hotel. We went to my brother's DI contest in Ashton, Idaho. Matthew stayed with some of his team in a different hotel. This is a picture of Jared and I sleeping at the hotel. Matthew's team got first place (they were the only team in their age division, but they did a really good job). I got to make a sculpture from milk bottles and then during the awards ceremony, I got to go up and tell everyone about my sculpture. We also did letter boxing, which was kind of like a treasure hunt where you had to solve clues and collect stamps from each location in a book we made. It was really fun. We watched several of the contests, including Matthew's. It was a long trip, but it was fun. We were very tired when we got home.
