playing catch up

* Before Christmas we had snow! Not like some places had it, but enough to cancel church after sacrament meeting. We had hoped for a white Christmas, but instead of snow we had an intense hail storm and then thunder and lightening (with no time in between). She's been in snow before, so it wasn't new for her. She wasn't interested in playing in it, but she liked to look at it.
*So, she's sick again. There were lots of kids around for Christmas and everyone of them got sick, but not all with the same sickness. We thought she had Hand, Foot, Mouth again (yes, it can happen) but did some research and it's not, it's just similar. She is miserable. I think I've heard her say "my throat's hurting" 400 times is the past couple of days. When you see it with a flashlight, you can understand why she's saying it. Hopefully, it goes AWAY and stays away.
*One of her favorite songs to sing is
"I love daddy he loves me
He loves mommy yeseri
She loves us and so you see
We are a happy family"
*Very rarely does it get sung like this. She LOVES to add different names. Just last night we sang about Rachel, Ron, Summer, Tyler, Josh, Bryan, Heather, Brandon, Hayden, Ethen, Devin, Lexi, Grandma, Grandpa, Sweetheart, Granddad, Blane, Jenette, Jalen, Kaden, Dallen, Landen, Darren, Heidi, Kjersten, Scottie, Ben and Katie. I think the most impressive part is that she sings about 1 family at a time and knows who belongs to which family. Don't feel bad if you are family and your name wasn't mentioned. It has been in the past, just not last night. We had to stop somewhere.

rock star

One of her favorite things to do is play the guitar and sing "In the Jungle" in the "microphone". She drags the guitar and stand all over the house so she can serenade us. Sometimes she wants us to join her.
-"Mom, you play the guitar and I sing in the micowave"
-"You mean microphone?"
-"Ya, micophone"

Christmas Cards

Here are a few of the Christmas cards I made this year...

I also took a family picture for my brother's family. I was afraid it would be really hard with four little kids, but everyone in their family is so photogenic that is was easy to get a good picture. There were lots of great shots, but this one was by far the best!

Wango Tango

I just want to preface this by stating some of my beliefs. I think the majority of people have at least little bit of WT in them. Some more than others. I'm definitely WT in my own way. I think a good burp is quite funny. You should see my back yard. I still wear my HS freshman P.E. shirt.
This weekend we went to a Christmas party and had so much FUN!
Here was the invite. I came up with a design idea for my outfit, but didn't realize it would take soooooo long to make.
Some other white trash ...
more WT...
and the biggest hussy of them all, (not me, her). Doesn't she look awesome! I think my shoes really tie in my outfit well.
Notice her black eye. She's also wearing a broken hand cuff.
We had a gift exchange with a few contests interspersed. Here is the beer belly contest. I smeared the faces to protect the innocent.
Here is the winner of the spit wad contest
One of the presents, The Journey CD, was wrapped with spray adhesive, she had the hardest time getting the wrapping off.
her is another featured gift exchange gift
Who can pass up a nasty wife beater?
Obviously, something about this shirt makes you want to flex. This guy won the burping contest, only because he accidentally spit out the root beer as he was trying to burp. Gross, but very funny.
Luckily we didn't get an back cleavage in this picture.
After the exchange, James (on the right) asked if he could challenge Aaron for the Journey cd. After that there was 3 great arm wrestling contests.
It was a super fun night. The front porch was decorated, the house was decorated, and the food was great (corn dogs, tater tot casserole, generic soda pop and lots of other yummy stuff).

christmas cards

I wasn't sure it was going to happen this year, but it did. Yesterday afternoon I finally mailed off my Christmas cards (well, not all of them, but most of them). I love Christmas cards. Before I went to the post office I checked my mailbox and found a stack of them. I wanted to bawl like a baby while I opened them, but I didn't have time, so I just let a few tears fall. There are so many wonderful memories attached to the people in those pictures. I love Christmas time. What a great time to reconnect, even through a small card! So, for those of you whose address I don't have, Merry Christmas!

sleeping beauty

Sunday afternoon nap...she had slept long enough and we were getting ready to go play games with my family. I don't like to wake her up (because she's grumpy if I do) so I decided I would opened the door thinking that would wake her up. Nope. I turned on more lights....turned on the bedroom light...started singing....turned on some music....took flash pictures.....she was zonked.

boots

I boughts these boots last year for this year. She discovered them in her closet this weekend and fell in love. Do all kids love rainboots? Sadly, I over-guessed the size and they are 3 sizes too big, but she doesn't care, she still loves to clunck around in them. As for the shirt, it lights up. So did her face when I showed it to her. She quickly started stripping off the clothes she was wearing and told me she wanted to wear pink pants with her Frosty shirt. How am I going to keep up with this girl?

We had a wonderful ward party last Friday. We are very lucky because
Santa Claus has come to our ward party the past few years.
The is what Her cousin and the other kids thought of Santa.
This is what she thought of Santa...

Christmas Portraits

Just in case you've ever wondered why most of her portraits are of her serious face...

I love this girl.
Today, I woke up to her screaming and hitting the wall. She had a blowout, out the front of her diaper. She screamed while I changed her and put her in the bath. She got happy when I told her Granddad was coming to visit her while she was in the bath. I tried to take a cute Christmas picture of her, she was a pill, but funny. After church I locked her in the car in the church parking lot. Her dad stayed and tried to entertain her while I drove another car home, got the keys, and came back to a livid little girl. I'd have to say today wasn't one of my glory days.

out of control

I feel like life has spun out of control and I can quite get it back together. This pictures was taken Sunday. The plant sat in the sink for 2 days. There are eggs in the pan, they were there for over 24 hours. My wonderful husband cleaned things up while I took a nap Sunday afternoon. It's only Wednesday and my kitchen is messy again. My house is usually neat and clean, but 'tis the season for tornado's in my house. At least the laundry is clean and put away, kind of.

Sunday

We said goodbye to my brother.
Played the chimes for prelude in Sacrament meeting.
My husband got a new calling.
The girls in my family sang "Were You There?" in Sacrament meeting.
I forgot to bring the music for our pianist.
YES, it's true! When I saw him stand to go play, I realized I didn't have music, he didn't have music, no one else would have the music. Luckily, he is a musical genius, literally. The only thing different about his accompaniment was the intro wasn't as long. I was so close to tears the whole song because I was so thankful he saved me and because I felt like an idiot.

sick babe

If you haven't noticed, I've been running a little behind on my posts. This one is written for me. Read on if you want to or just look at the picture.

I hate it when my babe is sick. Hate, hate, hate, when there is nothing to do to cure her and make her feel better instantly. Since the beginning of November she's been sick with a cold and then with Hand, Foot, Mouth. Two weeks ago Sunday she complained that her mouth hurt and she needed ice. We thought her mouth might be sore from eating too much popcorn. For the next two days she winced and cried every time she ate and sometimes when she swallowed. We then thought she might have a sore tongue, but couldn't see anything. We finally got her to open her mouth and noticed a HUGE canker sore on her soft palate. Kids shouldn't get canker sores so young. The next day we looked again and she had sores all over her soft palate. Thankfully, my husbands assistant, Keri ,had just gone through the same thing with her daughter and said it was Hand, Foot, Mouth. A couple of days later she developed the blisters on her feet. It was a LOOOOOOONG week filled with lots of yogurt (the only thing she could eat), medicine, and a very needy little girl. We gave her so much stinken medicine she started telling us when she needed Tylenol and ibuprofen. I am so glad it's over.

It's over!

Our Christmas program is done! Yeah! Last year was the first time the program was actually good and this year it was even better. Are we amazing? No, but for a bunch of monkeys, we put on a pretty nice little show. My favorite part was my mom and her whip (well, no, my favorite part was seeing my babe sing, but my mom was pretty funny.) It's nice when your hard work pays off.

Birthday Party

The Monday after her birthday we had another family party so her little cousins could celebrate with her. Before the party my parents took her down to their house. When she walked into their kitchen she saw her birthday present sitting on the counter in a box (they didn't have time to wrap it yet.) I wish I could have seen the look on her face. She got so excited that they took the doll out of the box and gave it to her. When she got back home, she was so thrilled with her new baby.
After the family arrived we had a great time watching her open all her other gifts. The presents were wonderful, but the interaction between all the kids was priceless. I'm so glad I was able to video it. Next came the cake. Because her 1st birthday cake was a major bomb, I decided I would let her have her very own chocolate birthday cake this year. She was willing to take a picture with the cake and then pushed it away, pointed to a cupcake and said "I want that." Oh well, at least I tried (I'm so glad I failed too, a cupcake was a much better size.)

Birthday Girl

These are super late, but better now than never.
