Last week of June 2020

Well there really isn't too much to report for the last full week of June and I guess that is okay! Just wanted to get a few fun pictures on here so that I will have them in my book. I think everyone had a pretty good week for the most part. (See pictures below!) Things are getting back to normal in ways and they are getting worse in other ways. We just have to do the best we can, stay positive that we will get through all of this and that life can be good again and that we will be able to enjoy the freedoms that we are used to. It is absolutely a given that life will not be the same ever again, but we will hopefully make it better! Masks are now mandatory in Oregon and our governor is watching our county here in Umatilla and also Union Co. We are two of the 8 counties being watched wtih possible restrictions to be put back in place if the number of cases of CO-VID don't go down. What a mess!!

Finally got to make this quilt for a young Mom who just had her second little boy on Father's Day!
Valerie  (new Mommy) is the granddaughter of Denny's cousin Sonja who lives in our ward.
I machine quilted on it and I think it is such a cute print and perfect for Brooks Michael Barton!
This was definitely something fun to work on and take to her along with some peanut butter cookies.

The last week of June, we had some very windy days and this house
caught fire on one of those days. Completely burned this house along
with two cars in the drive-way and a couple of nice motorcyles. It also burned
the side of the house to the left in the picture and blew out a window and did some
damage to the other house on the right of the picture. The fire dept. was spraying
water everywhere to keep homes around it safe. Still haven't heard what started the fire.

This house is just a couple of blocks from us.

Devin and Amy went camping up past Tony Vey meadows for a few days and found a nice spot
for camping. There was an old tub there that they actually used for a tub. Very clever son!

Unfortunately, Devin cut his finger really bad on some tin by the fire pit
and had to get back to town and had 9 stitches. Ouch- hope you heal quickly Devin!
That definitely puts a damper on a nice camping trip!

One of the beautiful sunsets that we see around here. We were on a ride
in the country when the sun was going down!

A little bragging about Derek!

I wanted to take a moment and really brag about Derek and the awesome job that he does with his company Poppy & Pout. Derek just has such a talent with his design work and really excels at thinking outside the box. He has always impressed everyone with his unique work and his bosses have always loved him. He is very sought after for his help and advice with design and marketing skills. I am so excited for Derek to start his new job for Chris loves Julia and really put his talents to work. Good luck with the move to Idaho Falls and all of your future endeavors Derek! Can't wait to see what you accomplish with your new job!!

Father's Day Weekend, June 2020

This past weekend was an eventful one as far as days to remember. My sister-in-law, Keri had her birthday on Friday the 19th. Happy Birthday Keri! Also it was 30 years on Sat. since my dear Mom passed away so that is always a rough day. Just can't even comprehend it in my mind that it has been that long already. Of course it is 2 1/2 years already for my Dad and that doesn't seem possible. We were going to go over to LaGrande and visit and go to the graves, but with all of the Covid-19 outbreak in the county we decided that we would just stay out of there until things settle down. It just isn't worth taking a chance. Denny and I still wear our masks, but we can certainly wait to do some of these things we wanted to.
Well I have to say that my eternal companion had a very nice Father's Day! He talked with each of our children, received many nice gifts and I do believe he is very much loved.  💓 I made Denny a yummy big breakfast and he had shrimp, coleslaw and beans for his dinner. He was so full from his breakfast that he didn't feel like eating too much later on. LOL Denny has been a terrific Dad and I know that our children look up to and respect him very much. Happy Father's Day dear!! Of course we think about both of our Father's being gone and all of those wonderful male role models that we have been blessed to have in our lives. We love and miss them all very much!
